I don’t know whether this is actually the case or just my imagination, but it feels like the game’s performance suffers when I enable mods. There seem to be some dropped frames or something similar. It’s especially noticeable when I’m cutting through a horde with the Bone Saw.
It actually feels like there are some dropped frames even when the game is running without mods, with toggle_darktide_mods disabled — but only slightly. However, when mods are enabled, it becomes more noticeable.
Because of this, I’m wondering: is this really the case? And if so, which mods affect performance more than others? Or do DML + DMF reduce performance on their own, even if the mod_load_order file is empty?
Animation events, i’ve heard its performance intensive, and its only a requirement to track the amount of times enemies have been staggered in a match with the scoreboard mod, not very important information imo
Games shows poor performance for me, with or without mods doesn’t matter. FPS drops two times in 1.5 hrs of playing it, same issue reported by many other users. Also constant memory-related crashes.
Scoreboard mods and PowerDI are known to affect performance, but I assume PowerDI is actually disabled in your case. I don’t think anyone is going to give you a definitive answer. The game is really CPU and GPU heavy. If you are experiencing fps drops, and suspect mods, disable ALL mods, and enable them one by one until you identify the culprits.
I’ve a pretty good PC, Ryzen 7800x3d, RTX 4080 Super, 32GB RAM, a M.2 drive. Even myself I can feel the game stuttering at times, especially after patches. I bet NVIDIA and Microslop DirectX might be too blame too, even if NVIDIA GPU drivers situation is still far better than with Radeon GPUs.
I assume you tried optimising your graphical settings, checking GPU drivers, deleting shader cache, setting the shader cache to “Unlimited”? I heard game crashes can apparently corrupt shader cache creation, so doing this from time to time might be a not bad idea anyway if you crash. I wouldn’t close the game using Alt+F4 also. It’s enough the game often does NOT close correctly by itself…
