This is my attempt to making this weapon make more sense and add a decent combo.
The sad fact is that Ogryn’s Mk VI cleaver special attack does not chain / combo into the strongest third light attack. Instead it combos into the 1 light attack. Special attack staggers elites, so its fairly logical it should open up into anti-armour combo, as limited as it is.
This would also make blessings like Tenderiser (power on special hit) and Bash (crit on special hit) MARGINALLY more useful. This seems to be an oversight on the Fatshark part.
Please @FatsharkStrawHat pass this on to the whoever is capable to assessing this and pushing as a change.
I start to think we might need class advocates who are going to push for some class / weapon improvements. Something beyond “why I dont kill everything with 1 hit” crowd. I would really like to see more Ogryn weapons and weapons in general have their moveset more fleshed out and added MORE purpose to some attacks.
Yeah I’d add a strikedown heavy that can combo off that stab…not having it is a huge dealbreaker. Make it like the Karsolas pick.
Another candidate for a moveset overhaul for me would be Mk2 Brunt’s Special. As a result of numerous elite enemy stagger buffs the punch is useless, so that should have ‘ignore stagger reduction’ flags added. I would completely reverse its current light combo on top of that though. All of the clubs currently do 2 crowd swings of varying quality before the branching of movesets occur. The Special is the only one without immediate access to strikedowns.
A lot of weapons could use more interesting, larger movesets, not just the Ogryn. Whilst having a weapon role is fine, all of them should come with some sort of combo which allows them to act in other roles too: if a weapon is focused on horde clear, give it a combo for armour damage and vice versa. Those don’t need to make insanely good damage, but at least serviceable and have a purpose.
