Most importantly, the sound when an enemy is attacking you from behind is simply not there alot of times. Then there is the issue of completely dead silent horde waves sneaking up behind you while you are occupied with a bunch of stormvermin or a boss and dont have time to constantly check your surroundings while blocking and dodging backwards. I have died so many times to silent hordes like that. Specials also lack call-outs or even their own unique sounds from time to time. Not fun getting janked by a packmaster around a corner you never heard or have been warned about. And no, im not listening to music or have my game sound turned down.
Most of the time I get the attack-incoming sound but 90% of the time I hear no footsteps from unarmoured foes. The silent hordes are nonsense too (which again adds to the fact that there’s no footsteps coming from regular foes.)
At most you might hear the horde-ish ‘‘stampede’’ sound but that is missing plenty of the time as well - and when we report this we dont mean the ambushes because those have their ambush sound just fine a lot of the time. The hordes are silent.
Yup. I got used to the incoming backstab sounds and now that they are missing i get downed by the most stupid stuff.
Sound for me has generally gone down since the 22gb beta and live branch. While there’s tons of performance fixes in areas, there’s also new issues that arise such as the fog for me. I have tried switching audio quality ingame around to see if there was any difference but despite having it on High it manages to skip a lot of crucial sounds such as specials announcing their newly-spawned presence. It used to be worse in beta because then I wouldn’t even hear audio from incoming hordes or boss music. Hotfixes might’ve helped this, I’d need to dig to see just why this occurs. Let me know if you people find any solutions. My equipment isn’t the best and I believe a dev said they couldn’t guarantee support for everyone back at launch since they seem to have moved certain Low options graphically to Medium or as Off/On.

Came back from work. Ready to wind down, relax and finally do something fun. I launch vermintide to play some legend with my friend. First map loads in, ‘Oh nice, it’s against the grain, i like that one’. Proceed to first open fields, start fighting some chaos raiders. Suddenly I’m jumped by a gutter runner that played his spawn sound a good second after he jumped me.
I’ve never quit playing a videogame, that i was looking forward to playing, this quickly before.
