Massive FPS drops on a good rig

Hello I have been having massive issues with fps drops in the game. I have a 2k 144hz monitor and I have my worker threads at 21. 64 GB of 3600MHz ddr4 Ram, AMD Ryzen 9 5900x, and an Asus 3090 TUF GPU. The game is running on extreme settings (I even tried lowering the settings but the drops still happen).

I go from upwards of 160 fps down to 40 or lower. It’s usually in a horde (sometimes literally nothing happens) and the fps will stay dipped at 60 or lower post horde or even in calm areas. Some interesting things I found is that when I die my fps shoots up almost instantly. Same for when I pause. It doesn’t matter if it’s mid horde it will still shoot up. The fps sometimes like instantly shoots up to 100+ randomly even mid horde and dip again shortly after.

I tried swapping back and forth between dx11 and dx12 to no avail. My cpu and gpu NEVER thermal throttle and their temps never go above 65ish. This doesn’t happen in other games. I tried testing Cyberpunk on Ray Tracing: Ultra settings and I get an average fps of 65 in combat with auto dlss. This is also very stable with +/- 5fps

I have attached my dxdiag for reference.

There are some other solutions here that may be worth exploring. Recently, mods have been causing some problems: [PC] How to Improve Your Performance in Vermintide 2 – Fatshark

There’s so many variables involved in identifying what causes performance issues, so it’s usually a process of elimination to determine the cause.

If you’re still out of luck, it would be appreciated if you could add your experience to this post, where we’re collecting information from players with performance issues: Patch 4.4 Performance Issues/FPS Drops

Have you tried lowering your worker threads? I keep mine on like 4 or 5.

My rig is CPU bottlenecked, so this may not help you, but I’ve always found the shadow settings to have the biggest impact on my frame rates. It may be worth turning those specific settings down significantly and seeing if it helps any.
