Massive FPS drop after entering inventory

Issue Type (Required):

Performance

Issue Description (Required):

I get massive FPS drops into the 10’s after entering inventory, Hadron, or the havoc menu. I find this most often happens after finsihing a game but can happen on a fresh start. Sometimes the FPS will recover to normal, but often times I will stay at ~40 FPS (compared to the usual ~90 FPS) until I restart the game. And if it does recover to normal, the game will hitch a lot during gameplay.

I have tried disabling mods, verifying game files, uninstalling the game and deleting the Fatshark folder in /appdata/roaming folder then reinstalling, disabling Steam overlay, disabling steam cloud for fresh settings, updating to the latest Nvidia driver (wiping previous driver with DDU), and reverting to driver version 566.36, but the bug is persistent.

[PC] Do You Use Mods? (Optional):

Yes, and I’ve tried disabling them

Reproduction Rate (Required):

Often (<75%)

Platform (Required):

PC - Steam

Hi @ZoroDaOtter

That’s unusual. Could you please provide a console log from a session this issue occurs so we can take a look?

Also, could you provide your user_settings.config file so we can view your settings.

Thanks!

I had a similar problem that was never resolved even after posting all the files. Are you using Ray Tracing? RT has a memory leak problem and the only thing that fixed it for me was turning RT off.

Thank you for the reply! Please see the attached for the requested files. I’ve turned off mods for this play session. For this one I would initially get a bit of FPS drops after going into the inventory. After playing a game and then entering the inventory, I would get a couple seconds of large FPS drops within the Mourningstar, but would seemingly fix itself. However, entering a game after that meant getting massive FPS drops and stutters when the action starts.

user_settings.config (183.5 KB)

My RT is off.

@ZoroDaOtter thank you for added info and logs! Interesting that RT doesn’t seem to be the cause here too. I’ve had to raise this with the development team for investigation. Unfortunately it isn’t something I have an immediate solution for, but hopefully we can identify any underlying issues soon.

One additional detail I can provide is that I can avoid this bug by not loading into the Mourningstar by using a mod called Psych Ward. The mod lets me access every menu and their full functions from the character select screen. So entering my inventory before or after a game from the character select screen won’t incur any sort of FPS drop.

Not to hijack the thread but just to take the opportunity to ask: has there been any progress on that suspected Ray Tracing issue? My thread was “acknowledged” but I never got an actual response. Thanks for any help you can provide

Will tag in @FatsharkJulia to answer

Hey Vlad, I can see this one is in our database. I’ll see if I can bump it.
