For clarity, I’d be fine with the demotion system if it worked that way, providing the 3 strike system was eradicated. It’s such an aggressive mechanic and forces people to not want to host, and thus there’s no games to play.
My ideal system for havoc would be:
3 strike system gone. Player gets infinite hosting chances per week.
player must successfully complete a game equal or higher than current rank to avoid weekly demotion
player only ever demoted by 1 rank, no matter how many games lost or unattempted.
player can only ever be promoted by a single rank per successful higher ranked mission - no matter the level they just completed. E.g. a rank 20 player wins a rank 30 mission. Player’s new rank is 21. Give this a long hard think and you’ll soon see the wonders it would do to the skill level balancing and longevity of the mode.
all promotions are instant upon successful mission, even if not hosting. They would only ever increase their own rank by 1 so this system would be ideal and give the regular dopamine hit
If it worked this way then I guarantee everyone would be enjoying the mode a whole bucket more.
EDIT: Weekly chest rewards could remain the same. No harm in their current form.
I bet they go change all the Havoc rules just as I’m about to clear the assists penance. I’m down to the last 99 more games and I’ll be done with it. Typical.
Makes me smile every time I think about how fatshark hotfixes are premediated for weeks, and usually timed with the bi-weekly store rotation. Truly some of the hottest in the industry
I’ve got mine too, including the 100 helping penance. I just played loads of 1-10 rank games after getting my true survivor and h40 awards. Went fairly quickly.
A lot quicker than this ridiculous 1500 Reaper kills penance
I mean…1500 reapers?! Lucky to see more than 5 per mission. It’s crazy.
i wish i could, but for so many penances remain unfinished for me, cause they go against my playstyle (never gonna touch finger wiggling psyker for example)
and doing low dif stuff is one of that things.
cracking auric maelstrom ages ago and now warming up in it as a visible progress felt so great, i was hoping to make hav 40 my standard setting.
alas it didnt happen and now i hop between HISTG and whenever I II V E G pops up
I’ve been serious about re-branding them to something else…warm fixes, small updates…it’s hard to find the best terminology to not make it confusing. I agree though, they aren’t normally hot
I don’t wanna be too blunt but any terminology issue is probably overshadowed by how they’re clearly just bi-weekly excuses to put the new store rotation in anyways. Probably not a huge deal for it to make no sense because I don’t think that’ll ever be satisfying
The last time I took a break this long it was after the Winds of Magic in V2- still haven’t started it back up lol. Sucks because I legit still play L4D2, it’s like they can’t help but make something so awesome so unfun out of nowhere.
id add also “QoL Update” in case of qol updates
cause most of the hotfixes are kinda qol, fixing stuff.
i also think it’s a bit weird calling them hotfix, because as the name suggests, should be delivered right away with urgency. but not really a big problem the terminology, it could be also fine if hotfixes were actually hot and released with actually real urgency.
since there are very many bugs that should be hotfixed right away with real urgency.
many serious softlock places where you can easily hard lock a mission and others have to leave because they can’t progress the map. new map with missing 100% sounds in the bridge, and at the end event you can falldown in a spot cause no collision…
