Friday night nobody's on Havoc in EU

Having to change server to find people on party finder is not a good sign, the previous derank system might have been toxic for some people, but it kept players in the game, now there is no more reason for the more experienced playerbase to play the mod

its an issue

tbf, I think more of the reason you don’t see people is because people have ā€˜finished’ it.

As of the last few weeks, if you started playing havoc and wanted to get the 20 chests penance, you will have just finished that penance as of a week or two ago. Most didn’t start playing until a week or two in (like myself), and I just got the penance on Sunday. So I’m out because I don’t want to engage with the horrible system, and many many others are doing the same it seems XD.

I know even if they added back in the deranking I wouldn’t play it, only reason it had a population at all was that penance. Now that it’s done for most that cared/filled the lobbies, game mode’s dead.

if one truly only plays for the penance he didn’t need to do it at the highest havoc levels, and they were not playing the whole week like the players we have observed when Havoc 2.0 was launched

the two things are not mutually exclusive, they add up, and the result is that now there is hardly anybody playing

plus if there is no risk involved for the level 40s they can afford not being serious about it, and being in conflict with those players that haven’t finished it yet

honest answer?
ego. no other reason.

made it my goal to finish havoc 40 on my own terms, did so, proved my skill and thats it.

havoc is just a measure of ā€œi’m capable of doing it as wellā€ not something that provides ā€œfunā€ given the surrounding factors like partial demotion, trolling, talent-whiners etc.

doubt it.
havoc 1.0, did the same thing, proved my worth, went back to auric maelstrom to solo my stuff despite randoms, not struggle all day because of randoms.
huge difference in fun factor.

one gives me total agency with an ā€œaudienceā€ thats ā€œthereā€
the other makes me dependant on the performance of others, which lets be frank 90% of the time is far from impressive.

since i dont play with premades, havoc 40/random was just a personal ā€œpenanceā€, other than that i neither care for crates, bling, couldnt tell you how many ā€œweekly cratesā€ been opened etc…

ironically even for my channel, havoc content aint worth :poop: , auf gut deutsch ā€œdas kuckt kein schweinā€

at first i hoped "hey i finished havoc 40 with full health oggy non meta, someones gonna watch, right?

nope, video’s been dead in the water despite showing good performance.

some dude with american pie humor, struggling through malice though, gets the crowd… nah thx, not gonna make a clown out of myself.

even ā€œordo hereticusā€ seemed to have stopped posting havoc matches, getting sub 1000 views for all his effort, its a shame.

so why go through all the hassle and waste 2 hours for 1 successful run, when at the same time i can get 4 carries/clutches wrapped up?

so all on all, dont wonder why ā€œno oneā€ plays havoc.

Most people have grinded for the cosmetics and penances and left. There is no point in playing this game mode, especially with randoms. Anyone who is half-decent at the game and knows that Havoc is gear-check for artificial diffulty saw it coming.

i’m indecent then

More like naive. You thought people would play for fun instead of treating Havok as just another ā€œget X item and hang around lobby/ bank/ etc to show it offā€. This is just the old problem that once the initial rush is done, the ā€œmetaā€ has taken hold, and all the ā€œearly adoptersā€ have gotten their shiny toy anyone else is going to find the place barren. Any groups left running it are going to be completely premade with the usual ā€œneed 10 years experience for entry level jobā€ requirements.

Most annoying part is that this is literally 100% predictable and you don’t need statistics or AI. Just some experience with other games and not wearing rose-tinted glasses. WoW Arena?Same problem - after the first few months the only ones playing were either after specific gear pieces considered best-in-slot or the sweatlords & wannabe’s all in premades. Its almost as if Obesetuna is actively and intentionally taking all the failed mechanics and throwing them into Darktide in the belief that they are ā€œspecialā€ so it will all work out.

Just another reason I’m glad I stopped playing and only poke my nose in for the vague hope that someone at Obesetuna’s owner decides to clean house. But that is almost certainly a doomed hope as well.

youtube algo at work. it seems not to like darktide.

tried to start a havoc game together this evening, no one came, not one high level game active.

Havoc in a nutshell.

It’s just not fun for me.

I’ve been playing other games (MH Wilds) and dip into Darktide briefly in between. I just do a Damnation quickplay, then Auric if it goes well.

I play maybe 2-4 missions a week now. Then I log out.

It’s okay. I got all the goals. The game has no promise of becoming more interesting than what’s already here. I had my fun.

no, i dont think players should play havoc for fun, i appeal to their

if the system don’t make their lvl 40 rank decay in any way shape or form, they don’t need to play the game more than once a week

and that is the whole problem

furthermore, if you all guys don’t care about Havoc, why don’t let the only dude who care speak up for what he wants from Havoc

Even though Havoc system is far from being perfect, the problem is not with the mode but the game’s playerbase. Havoc is designed for 5-10% of players who are bored with Aurics so no surprise it’s not very popular. A majority of players are not interested in challenge, all they want is to play for win and winning in Havoc is much more difficult. People who hoped into Havoc just for rewards won’t play it even with deranking at 40 but it will penalize players who play it just for fun using off-meta builds and making challenges for themselves. With such low playerbase you have to look for people in other places (Discord, other communities), not just in Party Finder.

that is why i’m addressing this

i don’t want those in my havoc games, havoc was never about them

You know what penalize players who play it just for fun?, not finding anybody elegible on party finder

how am i supposed to complete this map with these dudes

Successfull videogames are the ones who keeps you in the game, does it sound predatory? Yes, but that is how it works in this industry, its a vice but thats the deal you are buying yourself into

Havoc system worked in those 2 weeks that we got Havoc 2.0, and no, i dont buy that it would have died anyways, not this rapidly at least, that hotfix killed Havoc, i kept playing back to back so i could tell

i’m only here crying about it because i’m trying to win a game

by all means, do so.

i aint keeping you from it.

you asked a question, that was my personal answer, lest i misunderstand the context here completely :man_shrugging:

i dont need to play it at all to keep the 40 in the title, so far the rank of the game i could open didnt demote either.

infection kept me down for 2 weeks now, hence i know by not playing.

Nice that you completely ignored the last sentence.

and you ignored my whole argument, low playerbase is the issue i’m addressing

You are addressing nothing, nobody will play Havoc with deranking.

Add deranking just because some guy can’t join the official Discord or any other community and find people to play with.

Because Havok is yet another item that is killing the game? Because most people would rather the 90% that play the rest of the game have fun & new stuff than wasting that time on something that the other 10% plays and an even smaller amount actually enjoy? After all if people really enjoyed Havok then why aren’t they all playing regardless of rewards etc? Why aren’t they creating open groups specifically to encourage others to try it? Could it possibly be that the only reason to play a mode that brings out the worst in players was because the system forced them to or see their progress wiped? Sure reminds me an awful lot of the old honor system and arena in World of Warcraft. And what did those two systems have in common? Oh yes - they were FAILURES!

Maybe instead of trying to reinvent the wheel by throwing all the stupid ideas that have been done to death against the wall in the vain hope that magically something will work, Fatshark should take a lesson from the time when WoW was the 900 pound gorilla beating the snot out of everyone else. See where the majority of players spend their in-game time and focus the majority of what dev time they have on content for that.

Now when you have a way to make Havok something the majority actually wants to play, maybe others will let you speak. As long as all you can say is ā€œI want people forced to play so I can have groupsā€ - well there is no polite way to say go take a long walk out a short airlock.

  1. not that many people play havoc
  2. i have a theory that partyfinder is bugged ive had instances on the discord where me and someone else in the same server try to find parties at the same time and one of us would have very little showing
