Then again it does also apply to Kruber and Bardin too, both have good hammers and a good fighter.
Dr-Candycane on reddit found this quote:
The full quote (As I have it at least from an older WHFRPG splatbook) is:
“A good anvil fears no hammer” - Stick to the teachings of Sigmar, and you will be safe.
Saltzpyre would never stray from Sigmar. Its gotta be Warrior Priest and I’m hyped.
Ooooh, that is interesting! Still think “hammer” is a better answer to the last riddle than “anvil” because of the comparison to the pen, but an obscure quote from an old WFRP book is exactly FS’ modus operandi, and that quote could fit Warpriest or something like it really well. “A good hammer fears no anvil” could also fit well, by the way. As a sort of ‘twist’ on the whole thing?
Utterly terrifying warrior-smiths who, legends say, simply appeared out of nowhere, striding from the wilderness with a psychotic gleam in their eyes, the Skullgrinders are hulking creatures that command awe even amongst the most lunatic of the Bloodbound. Wielding sacrificial, burning anvils at the end of long brass chains, their arcing, swinging attack bursts the heads of their opponents instantly, leaving nothing but a faint red mist and some shattered, splintered bone. Each skull dispatched in this way causes the the anvil to burn ever brighter, until the sheer heat melts enemy armour and roasts unfortunate flesh.
Apologies, this is a little off topic but I’m not sure where else to throw this speculation.
So clearly Warrior Priest of Sigmar is looking extremely probable. My mind now immediately wanders to thoughts of weapons, or more specifically the possibility of a new 2h hammer for the career. Now I’m just sitting here thinking how the hell do you make a new version of 2h hammer that differentiates itself from the existing one as well as coghammer which is a similar deal, without it being some powercrept monstrosity?
Since I’m already pretty deep in a speculation hole here, may as well go another layer deep. Would this new 2h hammer be class locked or available to other careers I wonder? It’s not hard to envision a scenario where the true balance monster to come out of the career is Zealot + WP Hammer, similar to coghammer Slayer and MW Pistol RV.
Anyway I personally am not disappointed at the prospect of Warrior Priest. Pretty excited to see how the class turns out, I hope it’s genuinely support oriented, with respectable rather than insane damage output (cough Sister cough). Or if we’re wrong and it’s somehow not Warrior Priest of Sigmar that’s fine too, very excited to see how it will play regardless.
I wouldn’t be to optimistic for this scenario as the past has shown otherwise. Not sure how the testing process works but I get the feeling that they show the new weapons and instead of: “Hey FS, you realize that this weapon is more powerful than (similar weapons) what we have. Should maybe toned down.” people say: “I wish the original weapon would be this overtuned.” We will see. Maybe we don’t get Warrior Priest in the most unexpected release twist. Maybe we will not get a new 2H Hammer but he simply gets the current halfway balanced and fun 2H Hammer.
I would be completely okay with a class which is not centered around dps, hell, even a class with “subpar” dps and a real good defense play which brings something to the team. Sister dps build was a mistake and I hope FS learned from that one.
Very exited for the prospect of getting a Saltzpyre bot which fits better to my playstyle
In a completely unrelated topic: Does there exist a program for the Game Awards? Because where I live they start at 1 o’clock at night and go until 5 o’clock. And for sure I am not able to watch the full thing.
So I am pondering if I should take my risk with the first hour or do the actual sane thing and just look at all the cool new stuff tomorrow (although I am only interested in two companies).
