Let's get some new character voices

Love the voice acting in this game, but there’s not enough options for each class. Maybe bring in the VT2 voice acting team and have them do an extra voice or two each.

Hell yes! I’d pay for this! It would work a lot like buying into the old VT2 monetization scheme, where other players would benefit (get to enjoy more variety) from the individuals who paid in.

The return on investment would be atrocious, the only reason to introduce new player personalities would be if a new arche happen.

I feel like adding new voices is one of the most prohibitive parts of development of future classes and characters, so I’m not sure there would be a lot of value in adding even more voices for existing ones, it’ll mean even more lines have to be recorded by even more characters when/if a new class comes out

Sadly probably very true :pensive:

just 1 new male + 1 female voice for the humans + 1 ogryn would be 7 new people to record a similar number of lines as those in the game already (didn’t fatshark write something about almost 90k lines?) and to build into the current system… that’s much work for not much effect.

yea there is lot of unused ones also

3.900 voices lines per personality.

And they return every other update to add new voices lines.

i feel like some have been removed to be honest in these years

i remember veterans sometimes blasting each other about the planet Cadia, etc.

and many other dialogues, like mentioning even battle sisters etc.

they have been replaced/removed or i think it is also that thing where the more you level up, the more dialogues changes etc, because there was also that i think. some lines behind the levels of a character.

It’s not that…
If you want to have fun with the dialogues you need to go to anything below Heresy.
Lulls between fights are longer and if I remember correctly one of the triggers for exchange is lack of enemies in direct vicinity - it rarely happens on Damnation/Auric and Elevators and other safe locations have their own dialogues so no team building there…

When I was leveling up Ogryn couple of months ago I was surprised how often operatives talk.

oh yea true, also that, about the density/lack of enemies etc. and various difficulties

it is a bit sad that is handled like this, instead of putting them all universally just with a randomized poll

But it makes sense, unfortunately.
You wouldn’t be, for example, talking about Melk being a prick under heavy fire and with trapper stalking the team from behind…

I mean, I would, because he’s a prick and his balls should be a target for Rubric of Ahriman ritual, but not many people hate him with such passion.

Every updates they change up the voice lines rarity iirc.

To have some appear more often or not

Yeah honestly a part of this issue is that pacing is very off. In Vermintide, when playing legend or cata, you would still have downtime segments with barely any enemies - in Darktide you don’t get this. As long as you keep moving you keep getting blasted with full rooms full of enemies non stop, so those dialogues just stop playing.
I think it’s mostly a map design issue. They need more downtime segments. Even for other reasons it’s nice, the levels blend into eachother less when you actually have time to look at the unique details sometimes.
