Ok so i disabled WoM because of recent bad experience with beastmen in CW and guess what they are still there and I had another bad experience with them.
So, when will we be able to finally disable this stupid boring race?
It’s really not that bad
Yes, I would agree if they were only on certain maps or we could turn them on and off, but it seems like they can randomly appear everywhere and we can’t do anything about it, so it’s pretty bad.
Stop complaining and git good
How will this ban even take into effect, especially when so few people even play the game by this point, all this will do is further make it harder to find a game.
Not to mention they’re not even that hard
I’m not saying they’re hard, but they’re boring. It’s much more fun to fight skaven or chaos, these cows are just stupid.
Can you objectively back that up with some evidence?
What exactly do you mean?
… what? What exactly was your “bad experience”? This sounds like you wanting to ban something because you personally find it boring.
I thoroughly enjoy the Beastmen and the variety they bring to the game.
And that’s perfectly fine. I’m not asking for their removal, I’m asking for the choice of whether to play with them or not - I think that should be up to the player.
There were no beastmen when I bought the game and I liked that much more than the current state where I’m forced to play with them even if I turn off the dlc that brought them.
okay, let’s investigate that thought. Where do you draw the line then, why beastmen? Why not chaos why not skaven? why not specials that i find anoying? why not elites? why not chaff?
if your subjective tastes allow for removal of particular enemies then everyone’s does, that doesn’t make sense.
the game is about presenting you with challenges which you are meant to learn and overcome. It doesn’t make sense to lower the possible available puzzle pieces the AI director has available to him.
Ok. One reason is that beastmen simply do not fit to most maps, second they are still not well balanced.
Skaven are perfect because FS has been balancing them since V1.
Chaos is good too, I think that only Blightstormers need some patches.
But Beastmen are still weird. For example their archers, I have similar feeling from them like from flies in real life. They are simply annoying. It should not be that way, they should be scary, horrifying, the player should feel heroic when fighting them, but not, it is like slapping flies. Annoying. And it is similar with Standard Bearers…
In my opinion the perfect solution would be to make the most maps with set enemy type like skaven, chaos or both and let Beastmen be like an event, like a raid - they would show on some maps in some days or weeks and player can choose if to play those maps or not. But that probably wouldn’t be easy to implement and FS wouldn’t do it, so I simply asked for a button in the menu that would allow me to remove them to make the game like before WoM.
There shouldn’t be any problems with matchmaking - whether Beastmen are there or not would be simply determined by the hosts’ settings.
The archers aren’t supposed to be a threat on their own. They wear you down and interrupt you at crucial moments creating opportunities for other units do take you down. An arrow hitting you will interrupt attacks, mess up your aim, freeze you in place for a moment… all of which can leave you vulnerable to other attacks. The archers make combat more complex and I think that’s a good thing. Also a large group of them do become a serious threat, especially if you don’t have a ranged weapon that can easily return fire.
These also add an entirely new dynamic to combat, namely the need to push far INTO the enemy lines to bring down the standard. It disrupts strategies of kiting or hold-position and requires new strategies and often teamwork to take them down.
Not a fan of this either. This would cause contention and make finding multiplayer games harder; I wouldn’t want to join a host that has beastmen banned. Not to mention this opening the door for other people asking to ban the things they personally find annoying.
A solution I think would work for everyone is “Custom Game” options (for private games only) that would allow tweaking stuff like this. Pick and choose what enemies there will be, adjust other difficulty settings, etc. Sort of like letting people tailor-make their own deeds for a custom game. This mode would probably not have any EXP or chests at the end which would be ok. I think a mode like this would add a lot of replayability, I’d definitely muck around with it.
Here we go;
I remember on launch of WOM the insane length of the spear stab from the Ungors, the VERY hard hitting headbutt from the Gors and banner spam literally bouncing me off a ledge.
Beastmen are vastly improved over their release although I guess it’s only us longbeards that remember the INTENSE frustrations of their release and possibly in comparison to that we might not feel the current frustrations so much.
I happen to think Banners are some-what designed to give greater value to charging career ULTS. Handmaiden, FK and Zealot definitely make very welcome additions to Dark Omens for example. Charging in and taking out a banner is a huge buff against a tougher enemy. Archers are just as you describe - bloody annoying… but they lend an increased value to shields and fast-firing ranged weapons, firebolt, swiftbow, engi gun etc.
while they can be frustrating the design of the Beastmen adds breadth to the options for player s to feel valuable. A Stagger FK with sword and shield is elevated vs beastmen as the shield defends against arrows and charge is very effective at taking out banners - extremely useful in the finale of Dark Omens where taking out banners is more valuable than killing the mino.
with every single aspect of enemy design it’s often about “how can we drive player diversity and engage players and dilute the meta a little so more options become viable”.. I happen to think while beastmen have a limited specials roster, they fulfill the design requirements quite well.
Removing them entirely on the whim of any particular player seems a little heavy handed.
I’d like it if we could set a “preferred Faction/s” on Private Custom Games. I’m not sure about doing this on Missions that already have specified Faction spawns, though.
Exempli gratia: Setting it so that only Skaven Enemies spawn in the Back to Ubersreik Missions.
I think they did a pass to stop beastmen spawning in Helmgart missions like Righteous Stand and Halescourge, convocation of decay and so on but DLC got missed out
ahh, so that’s what e.g. stands for XD
That would be so great! I play almost always solo so that is all I ask for.
