Legends

A lot of us have been around for a while, seen some of the best and worst players, so use this thread to name some of the legends you’ve run across! Say what incredible thing you saw them do…

Zealots: Trauma and Destroyer. Daemon hosts quake at their coming. Reginald too, always a pleasure to play with.
Ogryn: Unmakyr, the absolute beast that helped my friend group beat the twins, really impressive, to the point where I felt like he could have done that hard mode solo…
Psykers: Psychopomp the positioning and CC genius and Vicid the gun psyker, yeehaw!
Veteran: blitz, what a Chad with a plasma gun… Made me waste a lot of krak grenades until I figured out that I don’t even need to think about throwing them.

About a week or so ago, I ran into two Ogryns rocking the same voice. I believe it’s the “Brawler” voice. Anyhu, they were obviously friends playing together who both had bound the voice-line “no” to a keybind.

They ran around spamming it throughout the game making a lot of “Noooh! NUh!” sounds as they overhead clubbed and shoveled elite enemies to death left and right. The funniest that came out of it was when the second Zealot said “Praise the Emperor!” to which both Ogryns instantly replied “NOOH” and “NUH!”, which make me laugh.

Solid Ogryn RP and I can’t recall their names.

I will forever tip my hat to Gromit the Ogryn, the first individual I learned the name of in this game who taught me that gun Ogryn couldn’t just be good, but could be the absolute best thing ever.

Ripper Gun Ogryn who walked up to literally every demonhost in a ‘high spawn rate run’ (about 7 in total) and melted it in a matter of seconds, dropping half of them before they could even muster up a melee swing and dropping the rest after a few dodged claw swipes. He went and fodderized the two natural monstrosities that spawned too, an absolute chad that deserved every ammo box.

Played an Auric, happened to queue with a Zealot named Bonk. Didn’t think much of it, thought it was funny since he was wearing hobo clothes and using a crusher.

Then we come across a daemonhost. I mark it, it’s easy to go around, so I don’t think much of it. Then I hear it waking up followed shortly by the boss kill sound, and I just see in the feed “Bonk killed Daemonhost

The healthbar didn’t even show up.

He disconnected shortly after. His duty was done.

the only legend I know for sure is Index, an ogryn main. that guy was just a random player in my game, but he’s the one who posts videos of entire mission gameplay on youtube and advertised it for all who was in strike team to look how they play from third person, not just post another “funny darktide moments compilation”. that made me look not only at how I play myself, but how others play, compare to them, and make my decisions on my playstyle, improving it, finding my niche in team play

the other was a Zealot, who’s nickname I sadly dont remember, but he managed a team full of random people, including me, to pick our specialisations in Orthus Offensive on “secret difficulty” to finally pass it, winning the last insignia we couldn’t get for a long time. it was first time for me to feel that last difficulty Karnak Twins fight was possible to win and was fun throughout the entire session of attempts

I thank them both from my heart for their contribution to random players experiences, if any of them see it - you’re true legends to me.

That reminds me, I remember playing a game with a new Ogryn I was leveling on Malice. Joined a game with a high-level Zealot, a level 1 Psyker (who I assume was his friend he was introducing to the game) and a level 12 Veteran who was sorely mediocre. Meanwhile, I’m level 3 and doing WORK - clearing crowds, doing hacks, that sort of thing.

At the end of the game, he says GG - to me specifically. Made me feel good : )

thankin´you sah, now oggy feel all warm an fuzzy inside :face_holding_back_tears:

i´m humbled and glad those recordings were of any help.

had the idea after seeing myself early on, in gameplay footage, which gave me some good feedback for improving my ogryn game.

i´m happy i could give some of it back to others.

as for nominations:

Tanya the zealot, got us through a hairy chasm logistratum A-I-II auric maelstrom, went above and beyond beastmode :+1:

2 psykers, Barbor & Vony, carried each other through C-I-VI Ascension Riser, that was intense

last but not least buddy Pirx, always there in the hour of need :fist_right:

Can’t for the life of me remember the names. Some time back now. 2 vets and a psyker, I was ogryn. They were melting everything, making me feel incredibly useless, so to compensate I was charging mobs, elites, everything I could. With a very predictable outcome of being downed constantly. Making me feel even more useless. Through the vast majority of the map I was thinking about tapping out. It was really bad. Each segement downed, picked up, stimmed to oblivion by them just to repeat over and over and into next segment. When we finished the mission I started typing: thanks for the carry, sorry to be so useless, when they typed before me that this was the best team play they have ever had, thanking ME for the carry… So I asked: Wat? Sarcasm? They have for the first time - all 3 - finished mealstorm because I was constantly tanking for them, allowing them to use their god rolled guns they way they always wanted to making it both intese and fun. This was the biggest wtf moment and these guys were absolute legends for it.

Zealot: Only one name comes to mind as none have have been as skilled in all quickplays I’ve been in for the last 2k hour - Quill. He NEVER takes damage and he’s ALWAYS dishing it out. Guy is litterally omni-potent when someone goes down and when he’s last man standing, the odds of winning are still at 100% in his favor. Compared to all the high-ego zealots that range in the lvl400-2000 range, all of them are farts in the wind in comparison to Quill. A team player, a true winner, a monster, and a friend.

Ogryn: Arson, guy I would true duo speedrun EVERY maelstrom with and succeed. Unstoppable, un-downable, invincible. No matter the situation, he’ll be able to squeeze out of and keep fighting. Horde of 30 crushers, 20 gunners, 10 disablers, 3 bosses? NP! Footwork, CC and positioning, all check out.

Psyker: Honestly I’ve ran into many awesome psykers in my 2k hours and the ones that range from lv300-2000 aren’t very impressive and honestly forgettable. Levels for this class don’t mean anything & honestly goes to prove ego>effectiveness in this class. If I happen to remember the name of a psyker for being a beast, I would’ve put their name here but nah, none comes to mind yet.

Veteran: Ghost, if you think of the terms “resourceful”, “crafty” and “methodical” Ghost is the name that comes to mind and outlasses everyone in that category except maybe Arson/Ogryn. Honestly it’s hard to tell sometimes if the guy is aimbotting because if a disabler or special spawns, it’s typically gone within the first 5 seconds before anyone even is able to see it. Never goes down, never takes damage. Guy also Solo’d a DH before the nerf, as a vet…kind weird tbh. When things aren’t looking well for the team and he’s the last one standing, he’s gonna carve a path and win using ANY MEANS necessary, barrels? yup. grenade pick ups? yeah. Door to kill enemies with? yes. - Hell, if it means winning, he will pick someone up to slow down the horde of 50 crushers, disablers, and monstrosities so that he can pick everyone else up at the next respawn point - evil but smart lol and know how to pick his fights.

I’m going to call out a gaming-buddy I made quite late on.

Ogryn called “Brick”. I won’t reveal his steam name.

I’ve tried copying his build, but I realize I’m just never going to be as good on Ogryn as he is. Actively seeks out Daemonhosts (3 hit kills, always), always on the spot for a pickup, and on the rare occasions he gets jumped by something, he’s always about 5 ft from another player and can be released immediately.

Obviously Twins++ , all the unlocks, and t5 Maelstrom ready at any time.

Pretty handy on a zealot too. But I think maybe the best Ogryn since that guy ™ I don’t remember from Dec-22 who helped me in my first Tier5 mission. Likely better, tbf!

Theres a huge list of people for me so its hard to boil it down. Lots of nice people, super fun to play with, damned good at the game. Etc. So i hope none of them take offense if i don’t literally list like 50 people.

One Ogryn who i don’t know at all, who i just see from time to time in a random lobby, is called GIRTHQUAKE. Total gigachadgryn. Absolutely top tier gameplay, doesn’t say much but always helps other people out if they go down, which they won’t, because the enemy is already dead.
