Leavers/Quitters should be finally dealt with

I maintain that this was a problem before the penance and the reason is that time-wasting not-score-screen that holds people hostage.

There’s no score and your time before you can leave is based on someone else’s latency, so you can and will get stuck in that screen with the chat box filling up with trash talk and slurs for way, way, way, way, way too damn long.

If I’m in a group that isn’t going to make it, I’m hopping out early. Life is short and I don’t have time for that. Sometimes bot saves the day anyway so whatever.

Put them in the leavers queue with other leavers. Your social credit score goes up with more matches played to full(bonus points for sticking around after a down/death) and down when leaving. EZPZ

I’ve had more people quit the moment they are dead than times in which they stuck around for the save, recently. You’re probably right though as we’re more likely to remember someone quitting rather than staying since the former is more negative of an experience than the latter.

I get especially annoyed at quitters since I am actually good enough to clutch much more reliably than your average teammate. So when they leave and I get the save, now we’re down a person, potentially for the rest of the mission, making it more likely to happen again.

Let me tell you, pulling off two saves is much less likely than pulling off one. I’ve done both but I’m pretty sure that pulling off 3 back to back saves have never happend in 1200+ hours.

I fully agree, on the money with all of it.

Well besids “leaving out some context to DbD” but that doesn’t matter here

I dont think this is just an auric storm survivor problem this is a penance problem. These people would not constantly be joining auric and maelstrom missions far out of their league and constantly smiting or expecting to be carried in general if there werent like 100 penance points associated with the difficulties. Ive seen horrible players joining hi shock missions in pairs and ive seen horrible constant smiters in maelstrom in general as well. These people also realize better players are within the auric board and they know they can be carried and that every 5 carries they get more penance points. Idk what the solution is but this problem was not anywhere near this prevalent and rarely seen imo before april. I think another problem is horrible performance which has been a thing for 8 months straight. Also if people crash and the mission is gone from the board they cant re join and their spot cant be filled by anything other than a bot which is also a massive problem.

Just going for Devil’s advocate here as I rarely die anymore in Aurics…

If I’m having a bad night and I know that my game is being challenged by the mental state of having a bad night and I go down and I realize it? I should probably quit and let someone else take the spot.
That’s taking one for the team - being cooperatively minded.

If I have pressing duties that don’t require immediate attention, but they do require my attention within the next hour and I happen to die, I’ll quit and go do those things instead.

This is something that I will quit for:
If my teammates know that I died, and yet they push into the rescue/spawn room where I’ll show up next instead of waiting for me to appear there; thereby causing me to wait an extra ten minutes for the pickup because they didn’t have the situational awareness to wait? I’ll leave. I’m not waiting 10 minutes to play on account of their lack of awareness.

And honestly? I really don’t care to notice anymore if people join or leave. I don’t use a HUD anymore, and I’ve been having the time of my life.

There’s a large battle, I get netted as I couldn’t hear trapper over sounds of battle. Guys next to me just have to click me for 1.5s and im back up. But they don’t. I watch them ignore me right at their feet and instead move away and slowly get whittled down one by one. I leave.

Or alternatively, I spawn 10 minutes away and seem to have skipped 2 of the nearest spawnpoints. 3 out of 4 games where this happens, the team dies before they ever get to me. Seen it happen too many times, so I find another game instead of waiting a likely 5-10 minutes fruitlessly. I just don’t have the patience for it

It’s always a judgement call whether I stck around. How close am I, do mates play well together, did I fugg up and play bad or did game or team fugg me over somehow.

For me getting killed and awaiting rescue is a shame filled smoke break.
Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

I can understand the frustration. However I disagree.
Alt+F4 have to be fixed. And as I have said, it is easy. Bot should replace the player. So if player has gone down, the bot should replace him on floor. If the bot dies, the player that reconnect should reappear captured.

But for leavers, i disagree. Actually there are a lot of players that have jumped to auric and that cannot handle it.
Martyrdom ogryns by example (the famous 6 wounds ogryn) and several others.
I will be honest, i use to leave not when I meet such players, but when I get one or, worse, 2 rushers.
Yesterday I pressed “kick” for the first time. Someone proposed to kick a rusher (ogryn, very good), and I have said yes cause it was really too annoying. But if I did it, it was cause I was about to leave cause of him.

It’s usually under levels or people freshly passed level 30 mostly in my experience. They think in their minds since they’ve graduated to level 30 & slightly beyond they’re ready for Maelstrom, let alone regular damnation lol. It’s hilarious… There’s no way you just don’t go in there & succeed right away. I wasn’t even decent enough until I was like nearing level 100 almost to be good & confident enough in my abilities to play those difficulties. You would think in your mind these people that go down all the time would go down to a lower difficulty, but nope, they’ll never learn lol. They still have a long road a head of them to get the hang of how it plays & the mechanics of it all. It is super annoying for sure. I know this, you have to clutch way fking more nowadays people love being carried. Just today I carried three people under level 50 with Ogryn. Sometimes, I don’t mind because it gives another level of an added challenge, but come on man, enough is enough. In pubs it’s getting more rare to get solid teammates by your side, it’s almost like every 6/10 games you get decent people. I can only imagine when Havoc Mode comes all the ALT+F4 gang will show up. It’s sad. All I can say is that I agree with your stance there should be something done about this… It’s a tough one to work around. Obviously, levels in this game don’t matter too much, but I do slightly judge by that like if a guy is like 500+ it obviously seems he’s been playing enough where I can trust that more than a level 50 or 100… or something. If I see people like 100 & below with sht weapons or they’re at least not upgraded, I leave asap… If they’re not bothered to at least do this there’s no point you’ve lost me. There are some signs before you go in matches just be aware. That & if they have like the Auric Insignia that’s the 100+ missions on or Hard Mode Insignia, Flawless one. I can trust this at least more so. I feel that IMO their credibility goes up at least a bit more in my book. Because you cannot really cheese these at least. There is some amount of skill there.

Then what’s the point for them being on Auric, if they just jumped in and tap out on the first sight of a problem? How are they supposed to improve and learn how to handle Auric with alt+f4 glowing hot on their keyboards? It’s just outright griefing to be honest.

I said it… I WANT that Fatshark fix this.

I think that ALT+F4 must be fixed. However, in my opinion, leaving is acceptable. Most of the time, I leave when I encounter players who prevent me from playing (killing everything) or when I meet a team that doesn’t want to cooperate (rushers, teams of players who never stop running and won’t go back even to grab a medikit).

That’s why I disagree with you. I often have to leave games not because I face challenges (yesterday, I did Maelstrom, and all games were lost, but I didn’t leave because it was a good game), but because I encounter players who don’t play cooperatively.

There should be no general punishment for quitting out.

There is no mechanism to gatekeep the bad players out of the auric plalyist. If my teammates display a complete lack of awareness for anything at all, doing things that should disqualify anyone from the auric playlist, like deploying medipacks next to a medicae station, walking past a med station, even when it is tagged 10 times, or being legitimately blind to anything that happens to anyone else… and all of that within the first few minutes of a mission…
You better believe that it is justified to leave that group. And it should not be punished.

There are still situations, where the game brings an issue that either kicks you out, or puts you in a mission that you did not select.
Why should anyone get punished for getting disconnected, or for quitting in such a situation?

Also, if quitting is punished, you are soft forcing people to stick around, when they do not want to.
This breeds even more toxic behavior.
Imagine, how fun it would be, if the fastest way to get into a new mission, would not be to quit, but to wipe the team, or to get votekicked… Anyone who has tried to get a votekick through, probably knows how rarely people vote for the kick. Have fun with people trying their hardest to get kicked, while at least 1 teammate lacks the awareness to notice any of it (which is basically guaranteed).

If you let people quit, they leave and they are quickly replaced with someone who actually wants to be there (at least for the moment). The downside for the rest of the group is very small.
If you do not let people quit, they will probably stick around, but they do not want to be there. They will make it everybody‘s problem.

Maybe something should be done about the quitters, but it should absolutely not be anything as simple as just punishing anyone who quits a group. That would likely punish justified quitting just as much.

hence my idea of after failing so often in a row you get a forced title, un-hide-able (its a word) until your win rate exceeds 60% again:

unfit for auric ™

there´s gotta be a log of who is doing what aka. net/yeet/host etc., combined with immediate disconnect it can´t be always a connection issue.
that would be pariah dog level of bad luck, to be harnessed playing the lottery “backwards” :joy:

Again, the problem is not just bad players (unless they are deliberately ruining, for example knife rushers), the problem people leaving instantly without even trying to salvage the situation.

Failed runs can happen, unfair moments or even wipes caused by bugs/lags can happen, hell, I was thrown into a failed runs (alone or with bots surrounded by elite horde) several times in row. Not to mention, I rarely carry, because I can clearly see if it’s worth doing or not. Win rate has nothing to do with being a ruiner, quit rate has.

I strongly disagree.

I personally don’t mind seeing players who need training. What bothers me are the players who rush, are uncooperative, and are not prepared for regular Damnation and yet jump to Auric expecting to be carried.

But the worst—and where I draw the line—are those players who never wait and act as if they have a train to catch in 25 minutes. They skip medkits, refuse to stop for healing at medicae stations, die 90 meters away while you’re dealing with two monstrosities (as I witnessed yesterday), and so on. These players are a plague for this game. Even if they are skilled, I don’t care—I’d rather play with an inexperienced player who is trying to improve and willing to cooperate with their team.

I make it a point to inject med-stims into teammates who need them. I always check the number of medicae charges, my health, and other factors (like whether I have Holy Revenant) before healing. But too often, I don’t see the same level of awareness from others. Don’t get me wrong, many players are good! This is not the majority, but it happens far too often.

Rushers are often good and skilled players.
And still, I don’t want to share a mission with them. They are a plague to this game.
I want players that cooperate in a cooperative game. Not players that solo and aggro even more enemies while the team is facing 2 monstrosities.

Let’s make up a scenario:
You join auric missions.
You are dead weight every time (actually worse than a bot).
You never quit.

Now in this case, your low quit rate makes you even more of a ruiner.
Because you lower the win rate of everyone who ever matches with you.

At least this behavior shows some sort of commitment and willing to impove (again, unless they are deliberately griefing or have a severe case of Dunning-Krueger), what are leavers trying to achieve? “Oh no, I went down, time to tap out and find a new match, only to quit 2 minutes later!”

For me it is:

“oh no! an other rusher!”
“oh no! I will have to run after the group the entire mission cause they are 3 zealots with high mobility”
“oh no! an other toxic player”
“oh no! an other stupid player that take fun at killing my melee targets and wants to kill me!”
“oh no! an other player skilled that use an OP weapon and is so good that I will spend 30 minutes at watching him”
“oh no! someone that steal all ammos and don’t care others!”
Etc.
There are a lot of reason to leave.

But facing death, is never the reason why I leave. But when I face death, or even before, cause they rush (usually one rush, two run after him), yes I quit…

maybe i worded it a bit wonky, the intention would be fail due to forced disconnect aka alt+f4.

so disconnect shortly after net/dog/fail whatever cant be a coincidence, it happening more than 5 times in a row even less so.

the goal is to brand the deliberate leavers so i can opt out of those lobbies in the first place.
win rate thingie would rather be a way to get into good graces again, hence force them not to leave.

i see the downside in having a dead weight bolted to you all the time, but maybe that´s gonna frustrate them enough to stay out of settings they got no business being in the first place :man_shrugging:

plus it´s not like its making its way into the game in that form anyways
