Krieg Cosmetics - still a ripoff

Legs are apparently still identical to the OG, hence the ‘discounted’ price.

This whole set - by which I mean the weapon skins as well as the backpack or trinket - would’ve been 2400 total at launch. Now it’s 6300.

Also, yeah, we finally have official-ish confirmation that the heads are getting peeled off and a generic one slapped on, because someone was too lazy to change the name of their hat cosmetic.

Another giant problem. The knife skin is this time 1:1 just a old skin renamed and since I have the old version I can also say you could buy the new copy

Just having the option to buy the EXACT same weapon skin twice is scumy as hell.

This set infuriates me. I want to like the Krieg cosmetics, I want to run a Krieg veteran. I’ve had a Death Korps army since 4th edition 40k when they got their model line, nearly 20 years now, and it’s totally my jam, but these cosmetics are just…bad.

They went back and did some new bits for stuff like the Zealot headpiece (giving them an actual helmet instead of a gimp mask) but ended up with something that looks more appropriate on Darth Vader or the Fedayeen Saddam instead of the Death Korps, they still went about it producing something that is inspired by, but definitely NOT the actual Forgeworld and Games Workshop cosmetics. They had the opportunity to fix things, and chose not to.

The issues with rebreather hoses being missing, chest units far too big and clipping into stuff, coats sized wrong, terrible web gear modelling that not only looks bad but bears no resemblance to the actual Krieg uniforms, etc.

And Fatshark is still charging above and beyond normal cosmetics for these re-colored Chinesium knock-offs.

krieg has always been the “hey look at these guys! GIVE US ALL YOUR MONEY NOW!” army, as anyone who bought their minis will eventually admit. i don’t know why you’re playing a warhammer game and expecting pricing for toy soldiers to be reasonable

I thought the same, but having a closer look, the old one is actually just a hint darker then the new one, but it’s barely noticeable so I agree it is scummy as hell.

That only works when the cosmetics actually look good. The original models were an order of magnitude better looking, better detailed, and better scaled than the GW plastic cadians and catachans or metal lines at their release. That was part of the draw was the quality of the models in addition to the visuals.

The problem here is that the cosmetics are not only expensive, it’s that they’re recycled recolors of fundamentally bad representations.

When he’s right he’s right.

Love seeing the same backpack on every page too as always.

Old one called Drop-Trooper’s Combat Knife

New one called Legacy of Vraks

You can barely see the difference up close and I doubt you notice anything while actually playing.

Incredible, they finally made me side with the “recolor slop” crowd.

Holy crap, I’m on a 42" 4k OLED and I had to look at it for like 20 seconds before I could tell a slight color difference.

Lmfao that took me waaaaay too long to notice the difference. What a meme.

At least the Imperial ensign is embossed on the helmet with a metallic color instead of the ‘unpainted unboxed expensive plastic’ look the original one was going for.

However I’m gonna point out that to crappy textures and consoles the coat looks like you had part of it drapped in the toilet bowl when you flushed after doing a #2. So no, they have no value if you look like a homeless bum…I wanna post that picture of that homeless guy saturated in diarrhea, but it seems in bad taste.

One of the few “new” pieces, the Zealot helmet, really frustrates me, because it’s actually really very close to being cool.

Only the face is covered, it’s literally just the gimp-mask cosmetic with a helmet plopped on, leaving the rest of the head and neck completely uncovered. This both looks extra goofy, and defeats the purpose of the Krieg uniform which is otherwise actually sealed and proof against chemical attack, which was an issue with the old Krieg gimp-mask too and chose to just roll with it.

The wounded hand is fine as an exception on the main body is fine, but the fundamental nature of the mask as a piece of equipment is all wrong. Not only should it entirely enclose the head, the construction is wonky.

The helmet straps are tied to the flappy unsecured gimp-mask bits, not to the actual mask itself or as proper internal webbing.

meanwhile the gas mask itself looks basically unsecured under the chin

If you’re doing anything other than looking at this cosmetic straight on from the front, it looks goofy as hell.

Also, the helmet flare is so large that vibes I get from this

Feel more like this

Than this

Had they enclosed the head and kept the candles off, even with the large flare it might have been neat. But as is it’s just too glaringly awkward to want to pick up.

Oh wow they actually gave veteran a grenadier death mask
Fatshark actually giving the veteran class veteran stormtrooper gear wow

yeah and in the spirit of fairness they put it off to the side just like the officer’s helm last time

I still used some of my aquillas on it because trench warfare

Yeah, and it looks goofy to me. How hard it is to just look at art and do a 1:1?

Apparently who ever did the Elysian drop troopers was the only one who bothered to look at the first image result when google searching it

Alright I hate to dogpile on Fatshark like this but as someone who has the original kreig set, this DOES feel like having someone spit in my face. I get that it’s a free DLC, but like… This is the same set, slight recolor. I think the thing that pisses me off the most is that, people expressed how upset the original design made them the first time! Like there were plenty of comments about how people wanted the masks redesigned, and the coat made a bit longer. Artists took the time to make draw over suggestions for them as proposed changes. And now we HAVE their “Fix” to the original, and not only does it EXCLUSIVELY barely change the colors and none of the modeling issues, it also IS A SEPARATE PURCHASE! I feel like, for all the people who spent 20$ the first time, I get that it’s a paid cosmetic but like… GIVE IT TO ME FOR FREE WHEN YOU MAKE A “FIXED” VERSION. WHAT THE HELL. Like there is no chance in hell I am buying this set again. I’m willing to bet a lot of the other people who have the set already have the same opinion, so you’re not making those extra sales, you might as well have just updated the original to this, or given it to original purchasers of the full set for free, or at least for each piece of it we had, we get the premium one for free. This is ridiculous. The only thing I can say I like is the new stormtrooper helmet, and even then the eyes area WAY too big and not eclipsed by the helmet to give it that telltale kreiger angry look. I just hope to god they actually do something because the last 3 paid shop changes have been a total spit in the face to their playerbase and it’s looking REALLY bad. Like they need to at LEAST make a statement. Why are they doing all this? Do they need money really bad or something??? Are they getting threatened with a shutdown?

This is the only way of doing Krieg, anything else is wrong to me. And yo know what else? The grenadier mask clips with the coat

OMG YOU’RE RIGHT, it’s done that since the original tho, the collar on the mask has ALWAYS clipped with the collar on the jacket and the fact that they’ve rereleased it 3 times and not fixed it is WILD. Maybe 2 times a month for cosmetics is TOO much. Like wth
