Still having these issues. Attacks out of nowhere …
still an issue, no sound cues. random silent things turn up behind my back like trappers etc.
So if this thread got unpinned, does that mean sound cues are now working at intended? In that case I suggest that if poxbursters behind doors making next to no sound is intended, that it’d be better for poxbursters to simply not teleport or spawn behind doors. Have them approach the players from a distant spawn point instead of teleporting/spawning so close to players.
Spidey Sense needs to be a base feature of the game at this point. Silent Trappers and slient Bursters are justifiably rage inducing yet far too common, even more so when they’re literally back to back and targeting the same player - not sure how that even happens. (Trapper right behind another Trapper)
This is why I keep saying they need to nerf players back down to reasonable levels and reduce enemy density as well. The game cannot handle the power creep.
im surprised they acknowledged this as a known issue considering it’ll never be fixed
Likely not going to happen. Reducing Elite pop in Heresy, Damnation and Auric while applying Havoc type modifiers to them - traits like no stagger and faster attack speed under 50% hp for ex - is much more likely and feasible.
Hopefully not just a health buff, because that doesn’t do nearly as much to make gameplay more interesting.
poor harrdias, forever shouting into the void like the 80th burster that had no sound.
Issue Type (Required):
Enemy Mechanics
Issue Description (Required):
today i had a trapper spawn right behind me silently while his sound cue was somewhere else in the room 1.5 meters to my left, i hear the trapper shot far away from me thinking im safe and that he went for someone else but no, i got netted afterwards. and also got oneshotted by a crusher because he silently winded up an overhead while i was fighting something else entirely.
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
playing havoc
just randomly get silently hit by SOMETHING that should’ve had a sound cue
or trappers/dogs suddenly appear infront of you without announcing their arrival at first
Reproduction Rate (Required):
Constant (100%)
i think the worst offense even are mutants that come from literal nowhere with no sound just grabbing you while you’re just doing your thing fighting and dodging enemies.
Can confirm that this issue has persisted for quite a while. I have experienced similar sound problems in the new area of “Consignment yard”. Please Fatshark, have a look at this.
Silent specials, and missing soundqueues in general are the biggest problem with Darktide at the moment and have been for a while. It shouldn’t have to be played around but even if you could you are conditioned and taught by the game to listen for and respond to sound queues. When they then end up not being there or originating from a wrong direction/distance you have a problem.
This ends up being a random factor in a game that rewards awareness and skill and as such feels unfair in the best case and extremely frustrating in the worst case. As such I fully recognise the issues as put forth by the OP. Please look into this and fix it.
The direct cause is beyond me but it manifests most in extremely crowded situations. As such it is predominantly noticable on high havoc due to the amount of enemies and queues present. It almost appears to be a max amount of sounds are hardcoded into the game (undoubtedly) but it lacks a proper prioritization system or that the present system fails to prioritize important soundqueues such as specials, captains, monsters, or crushers over random horde sounds (which can turn up silent as well).
Audio engine probably can’t handle the ammount of mobs they spawn nowdays, cause it never was supposed for density to be this high.
Yeah I got sound issues too.
Also, I think i saw my mother in law in a horde. This haunts me please remove her.
I mean been there from day 1.
Pox makes audio cue at door, it retreats. It then comes out another door, but then with no 2nd audio cue, silent and deadly like my farts.
Trappers, Nets etc. You won’t catch them all, just have to be beside at least one person in the game and hope their reflexes is 1 sec when average player is like 5 secs contemplating the meaning of life.
Missing sound cues have been messing up our havoc runs consistently. Please look into this!
Is it just me or is the issue getting worse with every update? When havoc was introduced it was not an issue for me, everything was working fine. But the last two updates have really made this problem worse. Just today I played a few rank 30 havocs and it was unplayable, so many silent Poxbursters and Trappers. They were silent even if there was not a lot of enemies around.
It’s because there are more specials now + some reworked map areas have no sound cues at all.
