I have a 4k display but since I prefer smooth FPS in games that require quick reaction (like Darktide), I keep the resolution at 1920x1080. Before this update, I used to play in fullscreen mode. And although it has a tendency to crash when alt-tabbing, it was playable in 1080 on my display.
With the latest update, as I was reading the patch notes, I got hope that those crashes should be gone and I can finally keep the game at desired 1080. The result was exactly opposite. Now if I keep desktop at 4k and switch the game resolution to 1080, it renders in the corner of my screen, only taking 1/4 of it, making it similar as though it’s in a window.
The workaround for this is to manually switch desktop resolution to 1080 before starting the game, which is quite annoying.
Please consider this case when patching resolution options, cause I believe I’m far not the only one who prefers to have smooth FPS over more pixels in Darktide.
Have you tried the workaround I suggested? Go to os resolution settings and switch to whichever resolution you have in the game so it matches. It’s annoying but at least it works.
Yep… this is where I’m at. 4k display, I play on 1440 or 1080 (depending on the day because sometimes Darktide plays nice, sometimes it does not), but I can’t change any video settings on the fly to make adjustments anymore because if I do, I’ve got to restart the entire game, or it ends up just rendering as a window into the corner of a full 4k display…
No other game does this despite having options for adjustable resolutions on borderless fullscreen…
Options listed only go up to 1920x1080
I have a 2560x1080 monitor.
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
Launch Darktide launcher on a PC with an ultrawide monitor.
Try to pick a screen resolution on the launcher.
Failing that, launch Darktide and go into the options and try to pick a resolution.
They only go up to 1920x1080.
If you have a 32:9 monitor and you use Fullscreen (what used to be Borderless Fullscreen), the game will only occupy a portion of the screen in the upper left hand corner based on what resolution you have set compared to the resolution the desktop is set to. For instance, if you have the desktop set to 5120x1440 and you set the game to 3840x1080, it’ll occupy about 75% of the screen. The mouse locations on the screen will still be where they are supposed to be though. So in order to click on any of the menus you need to move the mouse to the middle of the screen rather than where the menus are being drawn.
I have verified this on two separate computers with different 32:9 monitors. I have changed the scaling in Windows up and down but it has no effect on this bug.
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
Open the game on a PC with a 32:9 monitor
Set the game to full screen
Set the resolution lower than the desktop resolution
Since the 1.5.4 update introduced dedicated borderless windowed, my game has been registering my normal play as clicking off screen. I don’t normally use borderless windowed, and it’s genuinely making the game unplayable for me because it happens multiple times over the course of a match. It’s been the most consistent when I hold block to the do the push + attack and sweep my mouse across the screen, but it’s also happened when switching from carrying an item to shooting and in some general movement. I can’t reproduce it consistently, but it happens often enough to throw games for me. I’m not fully certain if this is a bug, because again, I don’t use borderless windowed, but it happens exclusively in combat, and I don’t think it’s something I can personally recover from if it’s a feature.
Hi, after this update my game is having misaligned problems with the resolution at full screen, 1920 is working nice, but as soon as i select the dsr resolution game is misaligned and it’s unplayable for me
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
Enable DSR on nvidia control panel
Select 1440p
Open the game
Set resolution at 2k
Game is misaligned and unplayable
Setting my Desktop resolution at 2k fix this but i’ve noticed that with desktop at 2k my game performance is worse… is there any way to use 2k resolution with 1080p at desktop?
I’m trying to play the game in the new “full screen” at a resolution different from my monitor’s native resolution, but instead it just puts the entire game in a window in the corner. What the hell.
With the loss of exclusive fullscreen, I must run at my native 4k or the game displays in the top left of the screen. This reduces performance compared to 1440p, even with DLSS. I can get close to the old performance by running DLSS at ultra performance mode. I also found one other work around: if I use the mod that bypasses the launcher (from Nexus), I can run fullscreen 1440p. However, if I change any options (not just video), the display moves to the top left of the screen.
An update regarding NVIDIA DSR/DLDSR as well as AMD’s equivalent Virtual Super Resolution: This will be resolved in our upcoming patch.
In the meantime, a workaround is to set the resolution in the launcher, or restart the Darktide after changing resolution In-Game. This is because it breaks when changing resolution In-Game.
