KNOWN ISSUE: Crashing at Random, Due to GPU-Related Errors

fixed mine! SOO if you have windows 11 this may be your problem. the issue is the 22h2 update. you can revert this in your settings its pretty easy check youtube for videos on it. once u go back to the older version of windows 11 update as needed but do not download and install 22h2.
after doing this my game works perfectly fine. this my be the problem on higher end hardware assuming they are running windows 11. hope this helps!

had random crashes untill I reduced threads in launcher from default (was 21) to 14. Played like 6 games today didn’t crash a single time. Not the best solution because it might hit your performance, but you can try it

We kindly ask that you complete the questions below. With this information, we can investigate your issue properly.

Issue Description:

I am now very frustrated because I can no longer get the game crashes fixed myself.

It can happen that I’m on the Morningstar and the game just closes.

It happens that I’m on a mission, shoot, and the game crashes.

It can happen that I pick up an object and the game crashes.

It can be that I just STAND in a mission and the game crashes.

What have i tried to solve the problem:
I reinstall Visual C++ 2015-2022
I make a clean install of my nvidia drivers
I updatet my chipset drivers
I check files via steam
I deleted the AppData/Fatshark/Darktide folder
I set the workeer Threads down to 1
I set my setttings to low with no DLSS
Nothing Helps :frowning: I only want to play this fantastic game with my wife and friends.

I have exactly the same story/problem.
I cant finish a single mission without 1 or 2 crashes, its so annoying…

What PC specs do you got?

as far as i can tell, from friends and streamers/youtubers, the crashes do occur much more often on RTX3000 series gpus.

I use a AMD Rhyzen 9 3900X with an NVIDIA 3080 (Asus).
My Mainboard is an ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero (Wi-Fi)

I found somthing strange i my Error Log:
13:59:10.095 [DRED] DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED: GetDeviceRemovedReason() = DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG

Could this be the problem?

yeah, exactly the same error i get all the time.

I use an i9 12900k
ASUS TUF 3080
ROG Maximus Z690 Hero

so we are running kinda similar setups. My friends playing with AMD cards have like 1 crash a day, i have like 1 crash every 10 minutes.

Something got to be wrong with Nvidia RTX 3000/Nvidia Drivers.

It doesnt matter to which worker thread count i select, if dlss is on/off, vsync on/off, rtx on/off, high, low, medium settings. It just keeps crashing and crashing and crashing. ridonkulus annoying :confused:

Yeah exactly the same here on my side! Sounds crazy but i’m happy to see, that i’m not alone with that!
It seems very similar to my problems. I changes everything to on or off, set it on high or low, nothing happens. Do you have the same part ([DRED] DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED: GetDeviceRemovedReason() = DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG) in your crash logs? Would be interesting.

exact the same:

<> DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED: GetDeviceRemovedReason() = DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG <</DRED Hang>>

Its from 3 minutes ago. I close to giving up, i just cant stand the ā€œESC, ESC, ESC, Spaceā€ anymore :roll_eyes:

edit: i just double checked in via discord call:

my friend uses exactly the same components as i do, except he using a AMD 6900 XT and like i said, he mentioned one crash yesterday, since today 11 am he had not a single crash.

I dont know if there any other caviats with AMD GPU“s, but i clicked through some of the crash dumps, which ppl posted here, and one thing is sadly in common as far as i can tell (ofc i just picked a random few, could be bad luck): a series 3000 RTX GPU from Nvidia, from 3060 to 3090.

Yeah i have look to other Posts, some of them are very similar to our porblem. So it is a matter of time, when Fatshark fix our problem. I’m sure we can play the game very soon.

Another Crash on LOW only Settings

I’m gonna sound like a broken record, but I’ve been getting similar issues to you guys. Crashing randomly with no apparent trigger.

Can you Uploud your logs? Maybe you have the same error like the most of us

try borderless window or windowed mode. after that, creep up your cores from 1 to one below your max and see which one works the best

Thats how i play. But the game still crashes because of… things :smiley:

mine does too. but I couldnt even get into a mission without a crash before I did the non-fullscreen thing lol

I didn’t read through ever message so maybe someone has already said this, OP’s issue is a GPU Hang. There’s really not much that can be done about it…I’ve literally tried everything even down to editing my registry. Perhaps on individual systems there might be a fix for it, but as far as I can find there’s none.

Looking at his original log you can see the crash here:

<>
<>1<</Crash version>>
<>gpu hang<</Crash type>>
<>renderer<</Thread name>>
<>win32<>
<>64e02e1edc3abff5654f5a45150bedee76855eaa<</Build identifier>>
<>release<</Build type>>
<>244673<</Engine build id>>
<>Developer Build (1.3.3.48068)<</Product version>>
<>34aed2f1-dcdf-40ca-befa-94d9574750de<>
<>0<>
<>— CPU
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor

That starts at line 1384

Then if you go up to line 1366 you have:

13:59:11.473 <>HRESULT: 2289696773 = DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED: GetDeviceRemovedReason() = DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG

Supposedly according to fatshark’s patch notes, they fixed a substantial amount of GPU Hangs…but I guess we’re the unlucky ones.

Edit
Forgot to add this is happening to me as well and I’m using a 3090Ti. One thing I found to help the issue, not solve it but lessen it, is to turn off nVidia Reflex Low Latency. That helped reduce my crashes to about 1 or 2 per mission…sometimes more…but it generally stays around 1 to 2 now.

Well I take that back, as of this morning I’m once again crashing like every 5 minutes in a mission. So I guess the nVidia Relex Low Latency didn’t actually help after all…guess I just got lucky yesterday.

Same here - cannot play a mission to the end without crashing several times.
In the log it is always DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED; DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG

Frustrating… I tried now about any tip there is on the whole internet.

Yeah my workaround is, setting everthing to low, diasable every setting. Set the Worker-Threads to 1 and limit the framerate to 30.
It work a bit, yesterday i have had one crash in 2 hours. So it seems, that the game sends to many requests, that the GPU can’t handle. The GPU crashes and so the game do also. Could this be?
