KNOWN ISSUE: 'Abhor the Mutant', Cliffhanger' and 'Up Close and Personal' Penances Not Counting Progress As Expected

We are aware of and looking in to issues where progression for the ‘Abhor the Mutant’, Cliffhanger’ and ‘Up Close and Personal’ Penances is not counting as expected.

This is also because the descriptions are potentially misleading. Bear with me whilst I investigate!

Existing reports may be merged here, to help us keep track of the issues being reported.

Issue Description:
Abhor the mutant, the Penance for Preacher that requires you to kill a mutant while dashing, does not work.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Play Preacher
  2. Use your ability to dash to the mutant
  3. Attack mutant and land killing blow during said dash
  4. Achievement does not activate

Disregard. The wording is definitely off. If you go into steam and look at the achievement for it, it clearly states the MUTANT is the one dashing so you have to kill him in the middle of his charge. This worked for me.

Nah it’s definitely bugged. Did exactly what the challenge described and what you did. Charged up a heavy melee, dashed, the Mutant was undeniably mid-charge, I killed him head on, got credit and everything, and the Penance didn’t pop.

yup bugged for me as well. killed one while it was charging me, and killed one while i charged no achievement

If you reduce the size of the UI once in combat it begins to bug and you lose the info associated with it. as well the cliffhanger psyker penance at least for me is bugged stuck at 11/20 and went back to recordings to match what I did to get to 11 tried to do it again and it did not work.

“Up Close And Personal” Penance is broken, not sure if the changes of the patch have broken it. People were able to get it before, but not anymore so it seems. I did 2 malice runs in a row with just my melee weapon and the penance didn’t complete both times.

I did it thrice, so 100% so far.

Did some missions with knife, and never even SWAPPED to ranged and didn’t get the achievment. As of now the only way to get it is to play mission with flamethrower(checked with two preachers who got it).

Hello!
I never swapped either, but I immediately got the achievement when I did a different mission that did not include the ausphiex (scanner thingy for plague)

I don’t have the flamethrower, and I still got it only using my weapon for an assassination mission.

Ive been trying to complete the abhor the mutant penance and have probably logged in at least 24 hours playing zealot and spent a little over half that time trying to get the challenge to complete.
Steps to Reproduce:

  1. be charged by a super mutant
  2. activate electricity on thunderhammer and ready a charged strong attack to ensure a one hit kill
  3. dodge laterally while simultaneously releasing charged heavy to kill the mutant
  4. no profit :frowning:

It is not dodge that you have to perform, it is a Dash, your ult ability.
You have to kill a mutant, while it is charging (preferably at your ally) and kill it with ult melee. I did this with an axe (aim at mutant, hold heavy attack, hold ult button, release ult → charge, release heavy attack near target). Again make sure Mutant is in its charging animation.

Performed the task (Kill mutant while charging) 4 or 5 times now, received credit for the kill in the kill-feed, but I haven’t completed the penance somehow.

Wanted to ask around and confirm this wasn’t unique.

Update: I unlocked it through sheer determination and lots of raging at my screen because of psykers. Steam shows it a 2% for achievement.

My friend completed it and got the cosmetic, so it’s possible. Keep trying

I thought I had done it 4 or 5 times too before it finally worked. The trick was to perform the killing attack right at the beginning of the dash. I think I even precharged the heavy before dashing. Keep trying! It is doable!
