It's time to make the Dark Tide more social

“Secrets of the Mechanical God” got off to a good start, and Fat Shark’s promise restored some confidence.
Like I always say, Mournstar bars, players’ personal rooms, card battles and board games.
Fat shark should put these on his to-do list

While it would be nice. Think of what you’re asking for.
Those things cant just pop into existence just like that, they require workforce allocated to them.
And i dont know about you but i’d prefer they used that workforce to make new weapons, maps, classes and enemies instead.
If you want card/board games, go play a different game.

Literally all they need to do is increase the player cap in the mourningstar. They’re ghost towns.

Put 40 people in each hub and you’ll immediately see an increase in social behaviour.

I don’t think it’s worth it yet for them to do that but I’d like to see similar things someday. The lobby is so pointless outside of its npcs and the mission board. The few times I do see people talking it’s either people being toxic or people asking for help with penances. More rarely people will actually socialize in chat.

Personal rooms?! No more jokes and eat your protein gruel, reject. You are departing in five. If you come back, then we can talk about getting you some warmer floor space, closer to the reactor.

that would be awsome. getting a little deep rock galactic vibe in the hub erea.

The Inquisition should take a closer look at the reject who wrote the OP.
Morningstar is not a place of entertainment, it’s a temple of vengeance on heretics. A righteous servant of the God-Emperor spends no more time there than it takes to get to the table to choose the next mission.

not that i´m opposed to the idea, quite the contrary.

the more people enjoy the game, the better.

it´s just that i probably won´t participate in any of em, the mourningstar is just a fancy menu to pick the next match.

usually i bee-line from the loading bay to the mission board round after round after round.

same reason i never activate voice in a match.

best kind scenario it´s just useless banter that takes me outta the immersion, worst case it´s some high pitched screeching or background noises.

if there was a broader voice line board we could chose from staying in character i´d communicate more, the way it´s now “for the emperor” will have to do.

cause let´s be real:

i´m no james earl jones,
you´re no james earl jones,
heck even james earl jones ain´t got the same voice no more i wager and i wanna hear neither that ain´t voice actor material when whacking for the emperor :muscle:

I think Mourningstar should be first person and players should be able to fire and swing weapons. That’s how it is in Vermintide, and I miss it in Darktide.

I support ideas such as these, but I will personally play exactly 0 card games and most likely never enter my room.

I’m imagining the internals of an Inquisitorial ship, constantly ablaze with weapons fire as agents shoot anything and everything for any and no reasons at all, Hadron’s refractor fields infinitely holding out against relentless salvos from frustrated Rejects, and the mission selection console at the center of some brilliant never-ending cross fire.

Someone manages to organize a mass recon lasgun party and successfully crashes the server from the sheer number of lasers being spammed.

the morningstar is already the most engine intesive part of the game, adding a couple dozen more people popping in and out while making it larger might make the game entirely unplayable. they should work on making less of a processor hog before thinking about adding more social features to it.

Honestly I think the game would be so much more social by default if we just had in-game clan support. Community is a thing missing from a lot of games these days - you see someone in quickplay and then never again. For all its flaws, I think Des2ny’s smartest decision was to have clans ingame for friends to band together and play with.

Like others have said, Mourningstar is really low priority, but if we are making a wishlist I want to play Liar’s Dice. Easily my favorite of those kinds of games. That and Blackjack.

ok, well, I mean a lot of this seems really ambitious, unless they already had some stuff planned. Which I doubt.

Buuuut, I’ve been a firm supporter of the idea of a “social bar area”, where players can drink, chat and rest. I also think a small “Imperial Chapel”, for prayer and confession, is a fine idea.

Finally, I think this has been mentioned before, personal rooms with “trophy racks”, where we can keep mementos of how badass we are would be cool. Think Borderlands 3 player rooms, like dis:
