It's time to bring Scoreboards back

Fatshark’s reasoning for removing them was never valid or backed by anything objective. The amount of toxicity in VT2 to DT is exactly the same, and it boils down to one core reason:

Toxic players do not start being toxic at the scoreboard screen.

The scoreboard screen only provides a post hoc justification and something to point to as an outlet for toxic players.

That is not a valid argument for depriving players of an enjoyable feature.

Every one of dozens of friends I play with agree that this is a feature they’d like to see return to the game. It’s very fun to see the player who clutched things appear with a bunch of green circles. Especially it’d be appreciated in DT because of the build presets we could then see how well they perform against each other.

Even though we’ve established the toxicity angle is not a valid argument, there are ways to implement this even if you are stubbornly and incorrectly thinking scoreboards are a contributor to toxicity:

-They could be a post game screen accessible from the morningstar
-They could be opt in
-They could be only available to strike teams

There’s not a sufficient reason to deprive a large majority of players who enjoy this feature of it because you’ve a bad argument regarding what you think it results in.

what’s really funny is that by passing up on making their own scoreboard and implementing it this way, they let a modder make the defacto official scoreboard (half a million downloads)
and now the defacto official scoreboard punishes your score for taking a healing station when you’re low hp and doesn’t count downs or rescues.

so even if we assume that people will actually play according to the scoreboard, the outcome is worse than if fatshark did it themselves
and if we assume it has 0 impact on how people play then the outcome is still worse because the defacto official scoreboard has a decent performance impact and doesn’t count important things like rescues or downs

bravo fatshark

It’s really not.

I played vermintide again recently and I remembered how much I missed the scoreboard. It’s really nice being able to measurably see what you did or didn’t excel at after a match is done. In a Tide game it’s really hard to get better than a really rough estimate without recorded numbers.

If ‘preventing toxicity’ is really that imperative then making the scoreboard be a post lobby feature would 100% mitigate that ‘totally real issue’.

This dead horse again?

There is a perfectly serviceable mod if you want one. Just get it.

you lot have scoring enabled? i just use it to track numbers

I think there is a real issue of damage/kill chasers that has very little to do with visible score. If countering toxicity was the goal, FS missed an opportunity to implement a scoreboard that rewards/recognises team play as a valuable metric.

Instead we have nothing, and a lacklustre post-game screen where you basically just get to see who leaves the strike team first (no shade on your very touching personal gift, Emperor!). I run scoreboard mod because I like to reflect on the past game and numbers help with that.

yeah vermintide 2 scoreboard was terrible for acknowledging the contribution of the stagger pig that made the run smooth to begin with. Bardin particularly got hit by the need for circles, he’s just not a high DPS class on the regular support loadouts, and no one likes you if you play outcast (fitting). not like Victor who gets the elite kills on his WHC loadout every game.

Not to mention the console players that don’t even have the option to download a mod. I always have to tell my PS5 friend what stats they have after the round which is dumb that he can’t see itself in the first place.
