A summary for those of us who don’t want to watch a YouTube video?
Kill purple healer aura enemies first. CC is useless on elite or bigger red enemies below 50% health. Orange enemies are tanky and hard to cleave. Bosses will chain spawn if your team is progressing fast so you probably want to focus and kill them 1 by 1.
Weird ritual mechanic. Kill cultists or you gotta fight more unavoidable daemonhosts or something?
i won’t miss the cracked gunners and shutting them down with book & bubble. the new modifiers like regenerating and enraged enemies sound more melee-centric, and more ogryn-friendly too.
Those rainbow enemies are so lazy done and ruining immersion. It’s not even enraging animation or a proper effect, mob just glows red.
Should have been proper mobs’ abilitites with telegpraphing animations and enemy caster healer.
Uhhhhh
Emperor’s fading light isn’t going anywhere
seems toned down in terms of shooters, see jsat’s video at 0:30
They should do this, but this should just be a normal specialist (Or a new class of like, “Special Elite” that spawns in patrols/with elites) that appears in all modes. Until then this would be a decent way to test out the mechanics before investing too much dev time into it. Just figure its Binding of Issac rules.
Of course, that’s all wishful thinking. For all we know Havoc and the main modes will never cross outside of Events. But using Havoc to test out modifiers would seem a valid use of it. If they can ever make the mode worth playing. (Party Finder, Deranks, these things are counterproductive)
Regardless, do we really want the developers to spend too much effort on Havoc mode instead of the base game? I’d rather that if they insist on continuing development of the mode, they do so with as little resources as possible until they earn the right otherwise.
Finally, some Good News! Still doesn’t fix a lot of my problems, but this was a much better update than the blog post would make one think.
I’ll have to see if the shooter change really makes a difference, but something tells me EFL is going to remain one of
red weapons?
It wasn’t mentioned here or in any of the blog posts, so I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
These are great modifiers, love the Heinous Ritual modifier the most. That is really going to make the Daemonhost signficantly more threatening while still offering a way to avoid the experience altogether.
There are a ton of good changes to Havoc. Yet, FS didn’t want to tell us any of the good changes and instead just focused on the change that everyone was obviously going to hate.
I don’t understand FS self sabotaging like that in the slightest. Additionally, Havoc being harder will make the de rank changes hurt even more. It makes no sense to me.
There probably could be better ways to animate those modifiers but let’s also remember game engine efficiency must be a priority especially on the release of a new update. These modifiers are clearly visible and they don’t interfere with sound cues. That’s pretty important during a high intensity gamemode like Havoc.
Underpromise, overdeliver. It’s actually a very smart strategy. While it may seem like self sabotage and it isn’t without drawbacks, undepromising and overdelivering sets reasonable expectations and generates more positive impact to reputation whereas the opposite is true when overpromising.
It’s not a smart strategy when the “under promise” part sabotages the whole experience.
Unless they actually change the de rank system before launch, in which case yes it would be smart.
If enemeis have interesting mechanics that are making them more challenging, visualy telegraphed and have sounds cues, add new enemies, aswell as players aren’t overpowered you don’t need to spawn 12 ragers colored as skittles candies in the first place.
This is just a lazy implementation of what other games have in a form of band-aid. Like Killing Floor 2 exists since 2014.
Otherway yeah, welcome to the Skittlestide. This is like 1997 shooter design, when stronger enemy difference is another color only. I wasn’t expecting them to create new animations fast, but some decent effects and audio cues atleast. Bruh.
Posting a video instead of words should be grounds for a glans slap. But yeah new modes should incorporate some newness and not recoloring the enemies in a scheme that conveys their abilities like they’re the power puff girls that is not invigorating the game at all.
I’ll ask again if Veteran has a weapon or is that still embargo’d and not actually coming.
