A silly take that was already addressed here and numerous times before. If you can’t see the problem with people mega cheezing stuff in a co-op pve then I doubt you any arguments anybody can make will make you change your point of view.
Pve is all about fun right? It’s not like youre cheesing revolver attachment in pvp so its really an unfair advantage. Plus, I wouldnt be calling a red dot MEGA cheesing.
I genuinely dont get how its bad to cheese in pve, I’m not even looking for an argument.
Plus, who the heck lets an argument change their point of view instead of a civil discussion.
You can twist the logic and try to rationalize it all you want; this is always the first counter-argument people use and it’s been debunked repeatedly.

You think it’s fun for others if someone has an unfair advantage with cheeze mods like healthbars, spidey, 3rd person and easier sights? They are modding the game to be able get an unfair advantage on the enemy and making the game less fun for the team.
- “oh look, a trapper there, let me shoot it through the wall without ability highlights”
- “Oh that crusher is 5% hp let me finish it first and reap the benefits”
- “oh all the elites have a healthbar and I know where all of them are”
- “Oh a dog is around the corner and about to pounce, I better pull out my melee and stop reloading my plasma”
- “Oh I can see behind me thanks to 3rd person, I can dodge and turn much easier than I normally could and don’t need to check my six or use cues”
etc. etc.
If you genuinely don’t see a problem with stuff like that and many other similar scenarios, I…anything I say will come off as insulting. You might consider playing with true-solo mods.
Well, there you have it! The more level the playing field, the more fun all 'round. Sure there are exceptions, but the expected baseline is that you are all playing the same game.
There are plenty of ways to breach this even without mods, and by-and-large they ruffle the community’s feathers – loner zealots, ammo-hogging anyone, controller vs keyboard, poor performances… you get the drift. Modding is just a more subtle way to introduce this dissonance.
Thankfully it doesn’t seem to be a huge issue in Darktide, like for instance an aimbot would be. Outside of some edge cases like the purported macro to abuse the rejoin ‘feature’ the main drawback seems to be loss of clout at your performance “requiring” mods!
Naw makes sense, person plays too well because of mods lessens difficulty and fun.

As long as I don’t see the same people complaining about difficulty being too easy while sitting on a Taj Mahal of mods, I’m fine with it. I also want a new difficulty mind you.
Yet again I’ll remind, that one could want difficulty coming from other direction, then obfuscation of information.
Oh, and even with all my mods, I’m not as good as trully great players one could find in pub games. So there is no harm done for randos, as nothing happens to them, that couldn’t happen in pure vanilla.

I looked around and it does get good reviews. But… I got swung by the hifi recommendations and plumped for a ifi zen 3 as it’s a bit more versatile, and I can use it with my hifi and laptop too when out and about. Plus I’m UK based and the prices weren’t hugely dissimilar.
I’ll give it a run out and let you know how it goes. Not that you’d jump ship of course. I suspect that any spatial would have to be generated on the PC side of things but tbh I’m just keen to see if the sound ques issue goes away.

Yes I would much prefer we have a clear shot at hearing every sound, and right now it’s definitely not perfect. I’d like difficulty to move away from special spam and make it more elite heavy. At the very least if there must be special spam, it should be in a less chaotic way. 4 pox bursters in the same door isn’t exactly more dangerous than 1 pox burster. Blow one and every other goes with it and most likely whatever other special waiting their turn to traverse the doorway. It’s goofy. Having 2 muties overlap perfectly/almost perfectly is goofy. Having 3 trappers around a particular corner all at the same time is almost always a guaranteed net for me. I can tell if there’s more than 1, but not more than 2. Maybe that’s on me I guess.
Also whenever you see an special making little to no sound, remember assassins from VT2. They made the sound that they spawned then for like even 10 seconds they wouldn’t appear, only then to fly from the other side of the map straight on you like a guided missile xD They truly were the bane of my existence when I was seriously playing true solo. Still have to give it a serious shot in DT (i don’t think it’s as fun as VT2 true solo for some reason).
Just keep in mind, there is no on-board HRTF 3D sound processing done on-board, on this you’ll still have to use a SW solution after the fact (as you re-stated too).
The GSX 1000 v2 has the virtual 7.1 processing on-board as well as a virtual comm output channel device where the voice chat itself is not localized in 3d so Discord+ itself sounds “stereo”. These matter imho, especially the on-board virtual 7.1, but again, you can use software for that after the fact (try DTS or HeSuVi first)
Seems like high quality, clean parts, but not gamer oriented.

P.S. A reminder that no matter how good your hardware, take the 5 minutes to set things up first in Windows, then in Disorcd and game, it may require a loop.
e.g. OP in Video probably has his mic input sensitivity too high in Win and it’s picking up all the keystrokes. Sometimes just moving the slider down a 10-20% is enough to solve all this crap, and then boost the output in a tad if needed in Disc/Steam, or use a DB mic boost in the control panel if it has one.

You should try it. As Ogryn, it is difficult to play (the char is taking too much of the screen).
I switched back to FPS, even if I prefer TPS… why ? cause I cannot be as efficient I am in FPS. With a dagger, in TPS I was recording less weakspot… and by a lot. With weapons that can face enemies, this has less impact, but with weapons like dagger or tact axe, this has a huge impact.
TPS view should be in game. They want to sell cosmetic we can see only in Morningstar?? don’t you think that this is ridiculous?
Healthbar, I will repeat it. I use it in psy to be able to test things. And sadly I often forget to inactivate it after. How many times I started a mission with that, and had to take the risk to open the menu to inactivate it? every time I started a mission with this mod. Cause it doesn’t help with all this red anywhere. Of course you can limit to several special/elite… but don’t think this is a huge help. However, my feeling is that the psy (something excellent and that we rarely meet in games) could be better made and could have the creature spawner options integrated (and a better environment)
Spidey… well here I don’t know. I have not tested cause I would hate such help that would transform the game in an “arcade” game.
Easier sight, can’t even see what it could be.
I would have been in favor to not have mods… but let’s face it. The game is far from finished on a lot of things. Just to quote several:
- inventory, my god: restricted sorting methods, no possibility to label favorite weapons, no possibility to select several and sell them, no filters (something I would really love to filter all combat axes etc.)
- view: no TPS view…
- Interface: you may think it is a cool interface, I think it is an ugly one totally ineffective. I really think something like crosshair HUD would have been great. However, this point would not forbid me to play darktide
- Brunt: my god… buying 100 weapons and having to sell one by one… who had this genius idea?
- Why do we have to delete one by one the nodes of the talent tree? a mod solves that.
- 5 loadouts? it this a joke that they cannot increase the number of loadouts???
- cosmetics: for the drip mod is an amazing QOL mod. Why do they forbid us to recolor, why not selling accessories etc? all is in the code and doesn’t require a lot of work. So why they refuse to implement such good ideas that are here for a long time but not available for the players?
- running… I have never seen they corrected auto run that stop when you get hit… to avoid a pain in my hand, I have to use AHK to correct that and not have to press a key to run during 30 minutes.
Problem is that Darktide miss a lot of QOL improvements and a lot of features. We can discuss how some players on their spare time can improve much more the game than what Fatshark do… I guess the answer is that they have given up this part, and focus on content. This does not mean we won’t have any QOL improvements, but this could mean that they don’t care of mods cause the mods address the problem that they don’t even want to consider.
For people who basically just button mash, 3rd person view is ised to gain an advantage ,based on the videos they post.
What’s the risk !? IDK what to tell you , I almost always forget to deactivate it too and have had zero issues doing a quick F4 and toggling it off globally from the DMF.
Pretty sure I’ve hidden them from the HB mod itself too , in a match, and only kept DPS and DMG numbers up with new picks. Not even sure what point you’re trying to make, that somehow all those people using HPbars just “forgot” to turn them off !?
I won’t bother addressing your snippet about QoL mods, it’s been addressed and moot anyhow. Furthermore it’s illogical within the scope of discussion at hand and only serves as a whataboutism excuse for those looking to cheeze with “unfair advantage mods”. Why even bring it up? Nobody else did or had issues with actual QoL mods.
This is what I do… but I usually see that I had forgotten to inactivate it when we start to fight enemies… then here I need to find a place and navigate in the menus and find it. Most of the time there is no problem at doing it. But sometimes it leads me to loose health (if not being killed).
Problem is…
- or you forbid all mods
- or FS validates the mods allowed
- or FS lets mods unwatched
QOL mods would fall also under a general ban… I guess that they don’t want to validate them one by one, cause it would also mean a policy about the quality expected on mods (bugs, purpose etc).
So I guess that we have the choice between all mods banned (and so a fall in the number of players, myself I would stop playing) or remain unwatched and unrestricted except if something is really breaking the game.
Put it at the top of the mod load order list, I’ll add a hotkey for ya if I remember. (edit: you could also do it out of combat…that’s what I do)
Well this has always been the issue since they removed EAC, some modders go out of their way to make cheeze available instead of self-policing, and at least one was “taken down” IIRC.
I whipped up a quick mod to help us both:
There’s not much to it if you want to make some additions, duplicate the entries and change some strings; I don’t feel like making it more configurable right this second.

P.S. There seems to be a rare bug that can occur if manually disabling certain mods during certain events, so best to toggle it in lobby, have it auto-disable on joining, or do it manually in a quiet moment if there are mobs around.
Summary
I believe this can occur toggling bars off with DMF toggle menu too under very specific circumstances.
I think it’s if mobs are (de)spawning, the hud is being updated with markers and you’re disabling the mod at the same time. I don’t feel like digging further into it as I consider it a non-issue.
You can trigger this in the psykanium if mobs are being “drawn”.
I tried modding in numbers of damage and the sound died so I had to delete all the mods lol
I don’t know what that means, nor why you’d have to “delete all mods”
The stacked special spawn bug has been plaguing us for a while now, and clearing it up would fix at least some sound issues I’m guessing. I reported it a while back when I first noticed it and had 4 stacked flamers, it’s still very common to see conjoined snipers and whatnot. Maybe I need to make this my Cause célèbre; where’s @Ragnarok101 with his mighty pen.
Is this outrage for outrage’s sake?
