Is there a better way to build this? (zealot)

So - I’ve been working on a build for a mate who’s played the game a lot, but not really done Zealot.

I’m not bothered about it being OP, or anything like that, in fact I want it to be as OP as possible (we’re playing T4+ / Tier5 and some Aurics on his Vet/Ogryn… so that’s generally the level he’s at on those avatars, and it’d be good to get him there on Zealot too).

Condition though: Duelling Sword and Zarona Pistol.

Best build for it? I just adapted an old knife-bleed build I had for it, but what do you think? Obvs there’s no lacerate on a rapier.

Then as an alternative; another with slight more toughness but skipping those heavy strike bonuses. Felt like Disdain might be a waste of a point.

if you want me to be honest, while it is in the right path
it is not the most ideal for DS

Good Balance is very good for crit build
Thy wrath be swift is also good

revolver imo while it can be ok, i’d take bolter to delete entire scab gunner patrols, rager patrols and crushers

(DS can as well do this but with some time, Bolter helps to dump when there are many enemies, useful to res people as well, because DS you may have hard time to res people because how easy they will break your guard when ressing, so you dump ammo to clear path and res, but since you have stun grenades shouldnt be a problem but)

since i adviced bolter, it is also intended that you should get knives for the knife quick swap to pull out bolter faster :smiling_imp:

but if you like to play with stun grenades i think it is okay
fury rising also i think it is not that much useful, while stalwart it can

I like the latter, to be fair. I could re-route to that.
I’m not sure how Good Balance’s +25% Damage Reduction aids the crit build though?

the new blessing agile also kinda crazy and paired with Good Balance it has some real good synergy

very fun to dodge basically infinitely because it refreshes you dodges a lot when you attack
and if you attack while dodging, you will never get hit much because of the constant damage reduction

a lot, since with either combat blade or DS you dodge a lot, the constant damage reduction is very massive.

it’s a good synergy for Agile also.
very fun

thy wrath be swift is nice because they won’t be able to stun you with either ranged attacks and melee attacks, a better replacement than swift certainty

i use the first one for everything, because zealot is a very much one-build class
second one is really disgusting with the piety tdr

i find this the best on dswords

this is pretty much what i have too
but with the difference i have restoring faith and good balance tho
restoring faith was nerfed but still good for what ive seen

Better then? I think we could live with throwing knives (though I do prefer 'nades for area denial).

you just take no damage when piety kicks in, i find it not really fun, but it’s strong
i also hate the dumb cdr reduction on crit talent, no idea how they still kept in the game

momentum is generally the cool kids keystone

maniac and unyielding here

stacking unyielding with talent is nice

carapace imo not that needed because you can easily take them out crushers with DS heavies and special attack to stagger them very easily + dash ults also help

so you can have a free perk slot

rip DS or talents cause prob it will be nerfed

you can try the mk5 if you want to feel a somewhat balanced dueling sword

mk4 heavy needs to be heavily nerfed

they should just be reworked entirely because stabs are dumb, why would you thrust with a cavalry sword?
i would love seeing a parry special on one mark

you could spawn 100 scab gunners not ironically with creature spawn and never get hit if you dodge with good balance + agile
once i did, and it is just impressive.

managed to solo karnak twins auric damnation with this build also
And true duo with the karnak twins secret hard mode

maybe the only weakness of this build if that if you are trapped by the horde, DS can’t clear out whole horde, easy to prevent it though
bolter not bad to clear a path and escape also

we need to be able to cosplay victor saltzpyre (in some ways)

sad to see they didnt bring back the ratclick rapier to this game

Does Dance of Death not become a tax node in these builds if you’re using a revolver?
Is Thy Wrath worth the two points?

i refuse to be stunned to death by a reaper
twbs is always worth it
i would try the agri revolver instead honestly if running knives

thy wrath is good

you could play it without but the ability to move freely and not being staggered is massive
ranged and melee attacks won’t stagger you

thy wrath worth the tax nodes

or even scab gunners sometimes if caught in 4k

but yes its just very good

playing without it’s like some sort of torture
i often played pre buff TH crucis without twbs and without it can be tedious
while with it, is some cake walk

zealot playstyle is also the one to go ahead to take aggro from ranged enemies so that they use melee instead of ranged

and twbs helps a lot with this, because of the immunity to stagger
