Instead of a skitarii DLC class, what about a servitor class?

I think this idea has some great potential and I’ve even come up with some vague ideas for the 3 personalities.

The Cog:
A classic servitor with dozens of texts, hymns and prayers to the omnissiah downloaded so that it can still communciate with the others.

The lost:
Many of these servitors may not be the highest quality and may in fact be sent down to aid these suicide missions as a useful way of disposing of glitchy/broken/malfunctioning servitors who weren’t mind wiped properly. The lost could be one such servitor and their unique character could be that they do not retain a single memory from their past life and so they act/behaviour in an incredibly curious and naïve manner as they try to understand the world around them.

The broken:
A more… depressing idea. Another servitor with ‘errors’ and this one is horrified at what they have become and maybe they have fragmented memories of their past life, broken and vague but there. And what do they do in response to this horror? Continue their role with a grim and pessimistic outlook on everything, maybe even not caring if the heretics kill them or not.

I got into this discussion a couple months back and there is a servitor model on the Morningstar.

So not difficult to make an existing model a playable character. Most players don’t like the idea of it.

Rattling snipers are preferred if there is to be a new class.

Servitors as characters? No.
Instead of bots? Yes.

Strictly speaking a tech priest would be just as easy and way more favorable. An explorator or something.

Yes i want a kataphron Servitor as a Pet or even better a Kastelan. Thnx FS

Ratling snipers? Really? : /

Lets look at the advantages and inconveniences of a Servitor compared to a Tech Adept (More generalist name, Skitarii would be a possible class for it).

Advantages:

  • Servitor are low level and are considered to be acceptable losses → Fit as a reject
  • Servitor can be armed with melee or ranged weapon¹

Inconveniences:

  • Servitors aren’t able to switch weapon (Grafted on their bodies)¹
  • Servitors aren’t sentient (Unless botched procedure which is illegal
  • Servitor would go against the tag line of the game “AS TERTIUM FALLS, REJECTS WILL RISE”
  • Servitors can’t introduce new weapons that wouldn’t be possible via other means²
  • Not a lot of sub types to create the Classes

Compared to the Tech Adept

Advantages:

  • Able to introduce a new group of weapon that wouldn’t be possible otherwise³
  • Able to have characters that can “rise”
  • Are able to swtich/carry multiple weapons
  • Have potential for multiple classes

Inconveniences:

  • Somewhat difficult to explain presence in the Imperial Penal system
  • Somewhat difficult to explain trust that Inquisition would show (Though fine as Psyker are taken in)
  • Somewhat difficult to explain how we are able to get Admech weaponry³

1: Servitors are grafted with their weapons, and aren’t made with the ability to change it while in combat. While it is possible (as seen in picture 3) to have both a melee and a ranged weapon, it would still be very limiting.

2: The list of weapon a Servitor can be equipped with is usually only heavy weapons (Which can be introduced on the Ogryn) and improvised ones(Servo claws, Cutting tools and such)

3: Most of the Admech weaponry is a bit more difficult to procure for non Admech members, this can be explained with Hadron and Brahms being able to procure it to us, with some being possibly used for cross archetype weapons
Whole list

Admech Melee weapons:

Arc Maul

Arc Lance (With Mag-inverter Shield)

Transonic Blade
image

Transonic Razor
image

Chord Claw (Would need some changes)
image

Taser Goad
image

Power Weapons
Omnisian Axes (Multiple pattern/types exist, some are Power but other are Chains or mundane)
imageimage

Admech Ranged weapons: (Taking only those that wouldn't cause problem lorewise, like the Radium)

Stubber: Macro Stubber and Stub Carbines (And Archeo Revolver)
imageimage
Phosphor: Pistol, Blast Pistol, Carbines…
image
Arc: Pistol and Rifle
imageimage
Galvanic: Rifle and Carbine
image

Flechette: Blaster and Carbine
image

Personal List:

Melee: Arc Maul, Transonic Blade, Transonic Razor, Taser Goad, Chain Sword (Shared), Chain Axe (Shared), Power Sword (Shared), Power Axe (Shared), Omnisian Axe
Ranged: Arc Pistol, Arc Rifle, Galvanic Carbine, Flechette Blaster, Flechette Carbine, Revolver (Shared), Autopistol (Shared), Autogun (Shared)

Ratling don’t really introduce new stuff (Weapon, ability…) though, only a new PoV
And we already have a Sharpshooter.

If a tech priest is possible as a future dlc then I will be one damn happy reject

Aye that was the consensus.

The most requested was an Admech one, then Sister of Battle and Ratling at the same level from what I know

You’re looking at it from the POV as a player not a developer. Or perhaps I should say the developers manager. I agree that the rattling sniper offers nothing that we don’t already have. To add a rattling its a simple matter of taking the dwarf code from vermintide 2 and dropping it into darktide then altering it some. Then throw in a needle sniper and a grappling hook (rein and raus) See: chaos spawn monster or current cosmetics for proof that FS like shortcuts.

Except the maps aren’t with a short stature in mind

As if that wouldn’t cause a lot of bugs and out of bounds crossings
