Infantry Lasguns and some ideas to make them better and more fun

Fun fact the Darktide Board game has Hot Shot Volly gun , on a glance I thought it was the Hellgun.

(apologies for blur, was hard to track down an image of the datasheets)

Aside from personal preference? And the same reason why not everyone runs around with a revolver/plasma gun and dueling sword?
Helbore’s aren’t exactly described as especially robust and have a tendency to get upset when not allowed to cool down after sustained fire. Think cracked lense making your range between junk and “I hope shoved in face is close enough”, refusing to fire, and a kinder overheated plasma gun aka just converts 25% of your skin into charcoal instead of instantly vaporizing.
Regular las guns are far less finky so they don’t mind if you need to hold down the trigger and fire as fast as possible.

Oh please

Theres no IRL balancing for this, its to give them their niche of sharpshooter/dmr weapons. They excel at picking specs off before theyre a threat t your team often taking only 1 shot.

HSVG’s/Hotshot Lasguns and Helguns arent the same thing anymore on tabletop.

Helguns were given to Stormtroopers (Kasrkin). Hellguns are given to Scions and anyone else the Imperial guard… ahem the Astra Militarum… seems to promote to ‘eLiTe iNfAnTrY’ of the Guard. Not the past and present tense and the amount of 'L’s. No pun intended.

Onslaught with the Light or Med Kantrael works quite well, btw. But if you cant click heads you’re really not worth taking the weapon because of all the synergistic damage multipliers you’re missing out on.
The weapons have literally no recoil. If you spam them the visual bounce on the reticule gets out of control (for most) yet is still more than manageable if not preferred usage. To test this, go into the psykanium and fire 1 shot after another letting the recoil fully settle. Watch the inner dot, not the Holosight you’d use for target acquisition but the smaller one for actual aim. You’ll see it barely moves and has separate visual recoil to the rest of the sight and the gun itself (I’m assuming you mean recoil on the weapon not the sight).

I agree.
If you don’t aim, there is the same recoil but no visual effect. And it makes the gun 100 times easier to use.

Well said, thats the point of balancing weapons. They need niches insytead of the current trend of making up for al lweaknesses, inherent and player.

I know I know, I shouldn’t feed it, but I need to know, what does this mean, like in your head?

P.S.

AI Overview

Both “homogenise” and “homogenize” are correct spellings, with “homogenize” being the more common spelling in American English, while “homogenise” is the preferred spelling in British English.

Case in point.

Stop confusing your elders :frowning:

Sorry son.

Infantry Lasguns are well balanced weapons and this thread is irrelevant. They do more damage the further away something is, not less the closer it is. Discuss.

I get what you’re trying to say, but the numbers will still get you on a technicality.

Lasers should not have recoil. This is shown within the setting (inconsistently, admittedly, but it is mentioned) so it’s completely reasonable. Seeing your reticle bounce around is ridiculous and annoying.

That’s my subjective opinion, and this is a forum for opinions, so it is not irrelevant.

Well, at least not THAT much recoil. I’m happy to control some recoil, but I use Lasguns over Autoguns for a reason.
