Since the game’s release I’ve been working on being a good Cadian soldier, using my infantry laser to punish enemies of the Empire. But since I arrived in the Atoma sector I have found that the quality of the infantry laser in this sector is very bad, not only has a very high level of recoil but it is very difficult to achieve a kill without hitting the enemy in the head, as if the Arsenal of this sector thinks that we mortal soldiers can shoot in the head like Astarte.
In combination with my years of fighting and studying in Yatoma, I found that the local instructors always overemphasize the need to shoot the enemy’s weak points and always shoot at a distance of 20 meters from the enemy (veteran left line talent). This method is very effective in plain or field combat, but the original use of cqb combat in an urban environment makes the qualification of the instructors questionable (no wonder Yatoma fell so quickly). These out-of-combat training methods combined with the poor quality of the infantry laser made us extremely weak against the high quality fully automatic infantry laser and hellgun, which were often outgunned by enemy salsales before we could kill the gunner (I wouldn’t be here to write a report if Sgt. Lawrence hadn’t been carrying a blaster gun last time). Therefore, for the current combat environment, we urgently need to adjust the quality of the infantry laser (increase the damage of the infantry laser to the enemy infantry body, reduce the excessive recoil) and correct the mistake of overemphasizing the weakness of long-distance shooting (redo the veteran talent, do not make the trigger condition of the talent so harsh).
Have you been reading the The Imperial Infantryman’s Uplifting Primer hehe
It’s like a bedtime book at Cardian, just for fun and it has no practical value.
I feel your pain. I’ve been a las-man from the start and it feels VERY bad. There was a brief period during the beta for the game when the Kantrael MGXII was king, but those days are looong gone.
Nowadays I feel like an idiot if I don’t use Bolter, Plasma, or, I-kid-you-not, laspistol.
Thats right, the laspistol is a better all-around weapon than the standard issue las rifle.
ive been wondering if the kantrel with marksman is any use considering how nasty gunners are in havok but im assuming it dosnt work
old marksman vet mightve been useful if you could stay alive
Not in the least bit. You’ll be sat there pinging away at one enemies head, while the Psyker just LMB spams everything to death in milliseconds. Or the Zealot will SOLO the entire mission in the time it takes you to line up some shots.
lol yeh i thought that might be the case havnt seen a marksman in a long time now
It absolutely is! Not only is it better it is actually a good gun.
Recon lasgun chads stay winning
Elysian sweep stay coping cadians
Lasguns having recoil at all is very perplexing to me.
You’d think the lack of recoil would help distinguish them from their explodey counterparts.
Accatran is still whupping Kantrael’s arse in the Las Weapons Race.
Pick one:
A) Lasguns aren’t technically laser weapons at all. (“Ignorance is strength.”)
B) They are lasers, but the STCs are for toys that imitate autorifles and every lasgun has a heavy spring inside to create recoil.
C) In the darkness of the far future lasers do impart recoil. The energy density is high enough that the air at the tip of the barel “explodes” and causes the odd recoil.
D) Don’t even start thinking critically about the sci-fi elements of WH40K. Just don’t.
I’m all for giving the Infantry Lasguns lower recoil.
That is genuinely the best explanation for Lasgun recoil I’ve ever heard.
Sadly, Laspistol has always been a superior pick compared to Lasguns
I’ll pick two and I pick A and D
Players can use Recon Lasguns to attain that kind of performance with less skill, that’s the kicker.
Plus, my proposed buffs for Infantry Lasguns aren’t anything big. I want slightly lower recoil for them across all of the Marks and I want the Mark IX to get a Damage buff so it can keep up with the other two Marks’ DPS. More Blessings to spice things up for them would be nice, such as Dumdum or Hot-Shot.
I also want them to be able to fire continuously (at the same RoF) when you hold down the trigger, but this is a QoL thing and not a balancing one. Why? Players are confirmed to have gotten repetitive strain injuries and carpal tunnel inflammations in the past from the click spam required for consistent DPS output with Infantry Lasguns.
Hmm, C is pretty good, but I am tickled by B. Choices, man, choices.
yes, but for gun psyker is either semper V or laspistol for me
also mg 4 is an honorable mention, for the enforcer vibes
