Hi, everyone! A bit over a year ago, I made a Topic about Infantry Lasguns and how Fatshark should buff them. Infantry Lasguns still haven’t been buffed, and my views on how to buff Infantry Lasguns have become a bit more nuanced than before.
I want to thank @Epic_Cole and @Reginald for their contributions to this. So, let’s get to it! Here are my suggested focuses on buffing them:
Allow the Player to fire them continuously whilst holding the trigger down. This wouldn’t be a buff but a QoL adjustment, specifically focused on preventing carpal tunnels and repetitive strain injuries. Your mouse will thank you, too!
Buff their Damage against Flak to account for the Flak buffs introduced in the “Bound by Duty” Update. They weren’t anywhere near overperforming against Flak prior to the aforementioned Flak buffs; therefore, this’d basically just be a spot check.
Buff the Mark IX’s DPS to match it with that of the other two Marks. The difference between the Mk IX and the other two Marks in the area of DPS is day and night.
Change their Dodge and Movement Profiles from Marksman to Assault.
Give them a small amount of Cleave on non-Armoured Enemies, to help with both horde clear and hitting priority targets within hordes. They currently struggle too hard to account for the Enemy Density changes that’ve occurred since the last time Fatshark are known to have really looked at them.
Reduce their Hipfire Spread. When you account for the ridiculously high Visual Recoil and slight tunnel vision caused by ADSing with them, the insane Hipfire Spread is just borderline miserable to deal with. Hipfire shouldn’t be so inaccurate on such a Weapon.
Reduce their Visual Recoil. It’s ridiculous how much the Sights bounce around on Infantry Lasguns, which causes the Sights to effectively obscure your targets. Same as the Hipfire Spread, it’s just borderline miserable to deal with.
Too add to this, since I reckon it’d be decent changes, can we take a look at Between the Eyes and Efficiency for blessings?
Having means of mitigation for suppression does not feel great for a blessing, and Veteran is already the only class that „can” play ILGs, and suffers no suppression/less suppression. Efficiency doesn’t add anything to the weapon either, and especially not with its cooldown effect not ticking down when actively firing, which is what one likely will be doing a lot, considering how much one has to click to kill things with it.
That’s definitely a fair call, as I don’t see much reason to use anything beyond Headhunter and Infernus. If Fatshark can spare some extra time to improve certain Blessings, that’d be great.
Yeah, the way their Visual Recoil interacts with Suppression makes it effectively impossible to counterfire. It’s another aspect of Infantry Lasguns that makes them miserable to use.
Here’s some ideas I can’t take full credit for since I saw it on Reddit, but it makes perfect sense for this poor gun.
Hipfiring is now fully automatic, also comes with a fire rate boost around 25-30% while hipfiring. ADS remains semi-auto for ease of popping heads.
Reduced recoil and spread while firing across the board.
Very slight damage increase of about 5-10%.
Decreased Sprint Cost and increased Stamina from +2.00 to +4.00 when in use.
Option to swap the flashlight with a bayonet (A man can dream, sue me)
Something like this would make the Infantry Lasgun into a premium jack-of-all, strong enough to headshot specialists/elites while offering enough flexibility to be good to use against hordes in a pinch while specialised horde-clearers like Autos/Brautos and Recon Las can still shine.
You’re free to make a Topic on what Braced Autoguns need if you so desire. Infantry Lasguns specifically need such help as they’re currently too easily swamped by the Enemy Density.
I also disagree with your assertion. Infantry Lasguns being able to Cleave in such small values on specific Enemies wouldn’t step on Braced Autogun’s toes to any real extent, since they’re clearly meant for different things.
Adding that kind of Cleave to Recon Lasgun would be another story entirely, though. That’s most definitely not what I’m asking for, mind you.
I hear you, my man I love my Infantry Lasgun, what an iconic and great-sounding weapon. But HS dual pistols are exactly what Lasgun should be, they cleave through Flak, you can get double, even triple HS kills easily. Go dodge as well…
I made a post too some time ago. My take was that ultimately IFL should have a stat instead of mobility “charge” that would equalize weakspot dmg to normal hits up to 80% since some enemies don’t even have proper weakspots for some weapons due to armor.
If they have to change one thing, I take that. The giant recoil make these weapons less useful than a lot of weapons.
Each shot, you have to readjust the aim.
I would add15-20% of rending for shooting plasma gunners, it supposed to be precision weapon, but shooting plasma gunner without 15 stacks of marksman focus is not good and i have no free talent points to add sub node from it that gives this rending or this miserable 10% rending for all weapons.
That’s the brown one yeah? I never got the hate for this one tbh- It’s my marksman head-popper baby, but I wouldn’t turn my nose up over buffs to its hipfire accuracy/recoil. I kind of doubt anyone would think any of them would even be close to OP even with these suggested changes.
They’re pretty good on Arbitrator and Hive Scum in my opinion. I actively use them on those two Archetypes, even if they’re outperformed by other options. However, I still won’t say no to Braced Autogun buffs, provided they’re reasonable.
