Infantry Lasguns still need some help

Granted am not here to complain about their damage profile far from that they’re actually really good precision weapons and can reach exceptional breakpoints if your ALWAYS AIMING FOR THE HEAD/Weak spot and that’s fine. Problem ?

I get that a dmr can feel weird without some kickback but its excessive on the infantry lasgun you really cannot afford to keep whiffing your shots on higher level of play which bombards you with enemy gunners. This is especially prevalent since now elite gunners can move while shooting you ever since Grim protocols patch from last year. Using ads while trying snipe all the moving targets on the infantry is really miserable compared to other precision weapons.

Fatshark please reduce the kickback effect on this gun, it just doesn’t work anymore in the current state of the game (This is not 2023 darktide anymore). I don’t see how this will make the gun op in any way considering its outright useless against carapace and every other lasgun in the game doesn’t have this recoil simulation thing going on.

I already made a more in-depth Topic on this exact issue, if you’re interested! Hopefully Fatshark actually buffs the Infantry Lasguns in the upcoming Q4 2025 Update…

I also made this YouTube video:

Yeah that’s pretty much my sentiment, although the recent vet tree rework made them alot better with exec stance and/or marksman focus. They are just very clunky to use. Correct me if am wrong but infantry lasguns have received minor changes if at all ever since classes got access to talent trees. Fatshark just seem to have forgotten about this gun so my hopes are extremely low that anything will be done in the next patch update.

But the hopium is still there

Patch 14 brought DPS buffs to the Mk IIb and the Mk VII in order to bring both of them up to standard, but the Mk IX was left out for whatever reason.

That still wasn’t enough to fully address the Infantry Lasguns being left behind after Patch 13, and now the Mk IX’s in a PARTICULARLY deep hole.

Well, they finally buffed the Vigilant Autoguns in the “Bound by Duty” Update, so it’s not completely hopeless.

Now, talking seriously.

Yes, Is about headshooting or nothing.

They aren’t! Lasguns are actually very powerful weapons that cuts peoples limbs off and causes the blood to flash boil resulting in small fleshy explosions! The reason they are refered to as “flashlights” is because alot of what the imperium fights are op as hell but against humans they are very powerful.

My proposed changes are:

Assault weapon movement and dodge profiles. Currently these have slow as balls Marksman profiles.

50% recoil

Improved hipfire accuracy.

But in tabletop WH40K, (at least in 4th version)… they were very weak.

Hehe.

But now I get the lore. Thanks.

I like it.

Would have loved a “fire mode” toggle on them so I can switch between semi-automatic and fully-automatic cause damn, the constant clicking to shoot is hurting my wrist.

It’s like playing with the knife or tac-axe. Ouch.

You do realize that 40k lore describes the las gun as able to blow a fist-sized hole in a regular human. On its absolute lowest setting. Through body armor. On the highest, well, imagine holding in you hand a weapon that would make a modern MBT both jealous and very leery of upsetting you.

The las gun isn’t weak in lore. Its just that every other faction that care about its troops life span even slightly decks its soldiers out in the equivalent of full carpace.

No, I was not much interested in the Imperial Guard Lore, since few time ago.

Thanks for the info.

And is true… poor guardsmen and guardswomen, fighting Chaos Marines, Necrons, etc.

Yes… I am tired of clicking for 3 bullets.

Considering how spawns are increased, they can safely remove beam spread so hip fire will be viable. It will place infantry between lucius and reccon.

And cause of the same reason all precise dmr alike weapons need some talent or blessing for damage reduction during ads.

Cause ads is risky - it takes time to go in and out, it reduces your fov in the game where tunnel vision means death.

Either from behind only or from the sides aswell for 180°

Stagger power on infantry is bad when it’s so headshot oriented. Knocking enemies makes it harder to aim head.

And again for the reason of how spawns are dense you need some clear potential without raw damage causing infantry killings crushers in a few shots.

Something like this:

Lasguns can blow up limbs and make heads explode. Enemy boneshards work as shrapnel (or works only for armored).

Tho them will just increase raw damage and slap some rend again probably in their regular lazy approach.

I desperately want the 3b to fire a three-shot burst like the Stalker’s gun.

Ditto. I had (emphasis on past tense) a build that used the IIIb for a carbine. I gave it up not because it didn’t work, but due to A) getting a severe cramp in my finger and B) for the first time in a while a having to replace a mouse without it be a chewed cord issue.

Even if its as stupid as “hip-fire automatic, ADS single-shot” and limited to the IIIb. Some form of select-fire is badly needed.

Though personally I’ve given up using the las gun for the most part due to the issues around it. The single-shot autogun seems to actually do better at the typical ranges ingame and the bash is more useful in general than the flashlight. I just have to watch the ammo but with Vermintide-In-Space I end up having to melee and grenade more than shoot anyway.

I remember some games, where I went fully melee, just because I got tired of being forced to aim to head, to kill enemies (with the full auto rifle).

Not even mentioning when you use the “click for 1 shot” laser guns…

Is tyring.

It’s not that the recoil itself if a problem, it’s recoil animation which makes them bounce all over the screen is annoying AF
