I'm a little tired of this . .

Yeah, luckily I only have a handful of truly awful stories that resulted in blocks. Everything else has been frustrating but tolerable and offered me a chance to test my clutch skills. And then, largely, I get competent to good teams with the occasional all star team that makes the gamble worth it of course.

But I do feel like a sucker for taking my time and learning the game before venturing into Auric at all, let alone getting to A5 QP and mael as my only modes now.

I hope whatever rework they are doing can positively affect the new player experience. Barring that, at least positively affect the older player experience by keeping truly unprepared players out of higher levels. IDK how exactly the new system will work. But if its like the helldivers method of only passing one op to unlock higher diff, it wont be enough. Plus there are plenty of grandfathered players that shouldn’t be where they are. If it’s character dependent, it will also frustrate the old heads. It’s a tough nut to crack, don’t envy FS.

I have played games with gear score reqs before. Maybe that would be the best implementation since older players will have the funds to speed that up. Not perfect, but maybe better than a simple completion check.

I think we’ve strayed from the true spirit of OP’s point now, though.

default should be an opt-in button, same as the “ready” in the hangar.

i find it pretty disrespectful of my time to be thrown into a match without me choosing so and having the opt-out responsibility solely on my side.

i dont pick up half eaten burgers and i dont play half running matches, for various reasons.

first would be “no one watches that crap”
i play to get content, period. sure i have fun doing so, otherwise would be idiotic BUT i try to setup each match as an entertaining episode you can watch on the :toilet: or bored at school, work, whereever like its a 40k series of sorts.

within the boundaries of the game of course.

that means intro, warmup, climax(hopefully a clutch or carry), end sequence

if the intro of the 4 goons walking isnt there it feels “off”

second, i need a few seconds to assess the peeps i’m with and gauge wether i can trust some engagements to em if need be or play “frontfeuerwehr” start to finish.

taking the place of the one that left tells me nothing except :poop: hit the fan.

so in a splitsecond i need to find out why :poop: happened in the first place and why.

chances are even with me getting things back on track the next fubar happens to quick to even react…

third, who says i’d be fine with that lobby anyway.
certain mood and certain “composition” and its a “no thank you” instead of "ready.

happens veeeeery rarely but sometimes even atlas cant carry the uncarryable :squinting_face_with_tongue:

so all that said, usually if the game starts right away with me solo in the shuttle, its alt f4 for me and hoping to get a fresh lobby after restarting the game :man_shrugging:

This is also something that many other games offer: the possibility to disable “join in-progress games”.

Sure, you’ll get a longer queue, but I prefer to join from the beginning rather than in the middle of fighting three monstrosities and a mixed horde, without health, ammo, or space to do anything.

Usually, when I join in the middle of a game, there is a few seconds (2-3s) of small stuttering and a sense of disorientation because you don’t know where you, the enemies, or the other players are.

oh i had a pretty long one today.
after the damn game put me 3!fuggin times into the same borked match despite choosing to not wanting to rejoin after starting the game again

(yeah its been “mittagsschicht” 12something a.m but cmon, just fire up one fkin instance with bots for christs sake…)

i thought f’it and played boltgun for a good while.

THIS is what this forced upon crap results in :fu:

i will NOT play a session thats being shoved down my throat so stubbornly, the result is one less player for the time be, not one slot filled.

That’s not unreasonable at all. Surely there’s a way for the game to differentiate between the Alt+F4 abusers and actual new players joining a match for the first time.

But the team needs you!

the dropout rate was already bad in the past, but it’s gotten even worse since the update.
I really think there should be some kind of penalty for players who abandon the game multiple matches in a row while downed or dead.
Since it’s possible to distinguish between ALT+F4 and a regular disconnect, the game should not ask the player whether to rejoin the previous match when restarting after ALT+F4, it should just force them back in.

only if its a full match start to finish and to push the dog in question nose down into its own :poop: to get a lesson across

when i enter a fresh game i stick to it from the shuttle to whatever, what i dont do is entering a half chewed/spoiled mess that noones gonna watch afterwards and waste my limited recording time for the day.

the alternative is to play a different game altogether.

one would assume that if i just left a party, i don’t want to be sent to the same party again, right?
