I start feeling mixed about vet talent tree

for some reason i start to feel mixed about vet talent tree after i start playing vet again it feels way too stench out to make an decent build for suvrival and damage for only 30 talents i find orgyn talent tree smooth of the size of the talent tree but vet feels like an comeplete mess of so much talents he has only few are worth getting and the other large part of his talents that nobody even use at all like the way to the weapon master keystone feels an absolute waste to spend any points on perhaps just reduce the size of it and remove the talents nodbody realy use and the auras needs to be looked at to make them more valuable to be pick than the auras now

Veteran talent tree has been a mess since the release of the talent trees because Fatshark doesn’t know how to handle a mostly ranged class without affecting the melee classes. It was so unfinished it didn’t even have keystones on release.

Right now the only viable build in high Havoc is VoC + plasma/bolter. Exec Stance is worthless because it doesn’t help you hit any important breakpoint and the amount of elites in Havoc makes the wallhack more of a liabilty than a buff. Stealth is a joke like 99% of the right side of the Veteran tree and only exists to revive your squad, reviving that wouldn’t be needed if your ultimate ability could help clearing the enemies.

Veteran, Zealot and Psyker all suffer from their very outdated talent trees compared to Ogryn and Arbites but Zealot and Psyker have at least multiple variations that feel different to play, Veteran needs a complete tree revamp like Ogryn got

Worst auras except the obvious one, pure RNG skills, noob trap skills (covering fire and kraks come to mind), tax nodes, smokes are just trash, two keystones have annoying mechanics and super niche, etc.

Vet needs a rework badly.

vet is my least played class atm. his best role is to give everyone toughness by shouting at them. plasma gun is strong ofc, but its firing delay is annoying, it’s like playing with lag. zealot can use bolter too and has better melee and movement (i often end up sniping as zealot because vets in my team rush forward) and gun psyker murders even better with an autogun (and can pick the warp speed talent, which i really like).

so vet can spice up his grenades with uncanny and pick focus target for boss damage. exec stance sounds good but you get attacked immediately but fodder spawning out of the ground. and smokes.. better have a shield psyker or book zealot to suppress gunners, or slide into them and force them to melee.

Kraks is only a noob trap because infinite AOE frags exist which is boosted by uncanny strike and we have DS4 to delete a crusher faster than a krak can.

Weapon specialist is fun, but look at Arbites. They get “weapon specialist but better”, because it doesn’t count for X amount of seconds after weapon swap, but s simply queued up.

At no point other than nuking the shrines from the last event I would take kraks over frags, and I don’t use DS and uncanny strike exploit.

Kraks are literally heresy player-tier blitz who thinks that deleting one Ogryn (sometimes several when they clump up) is somehow useful. They are not.

Yes and why is that?

Because starting with auric enemy Ogryn spawn rates are so high it doesn’t matter to kill one or two in one engagement. That is unless you’re using some meme build like shotgun + low pen melee, but even then I’d take frags.

Yeah and it is way too easy to kill a crusher, so why use blitz for that.

If we had pre-13 enemy density, I would agree. Right now it’s “easier” just to throw a frag and outsource killing Ogryns to teammates if they become a problem.

Perhaps you already know, but just in case you don’t, here’s the best advice I ever got on the forums: ignore the vet keystones ENTIRELY. The filler and secondary nodes are far more valuable.

@Mayson told me to do that a day or two after the class tree update and I’ve never looked back. To this day, the keystones remain empty on my veteran builds. They’re just a waste.

I really like the +5% movement aura. The middle one, however is useless.
I usually don’t take survivalist (something mandatory in Havoc, but totally not in other game modes).
