The fact that all of the info from the upcoming patch is coming from youtube videos pisses me off because I don’t watch DT youtube. I want to actually read about the upcoming changes at my own pace and see what exactly is getting changed instead of having to trust some random I’ve never heard of or care about to prattle on with B roll to keep my eyes engaged.
So wait less than a week for them to come out.
Keyword “upcoming”. I like theorycrafting and giving feedback before the update drops, and having the numbers and deets helps with that. They’ve done the previews before with the UL&L update, and it was widely received and praised, and I don’t understand why it hasn’t happened again.
There are screenshots/transcription of the draft patch notes that testers have. Check the main announcement thread.
It does get old being treated like a second class player/customer for content creators you care nothing about.
It’s 2026. Content creators benefit the game.
Can’t believe a 4 day lag is making anyone feel like a second class citizen…
Sure that’s an exaggeration, but it’s still reasonable to point out that this method of communicating changes is vastly less preferred than what they’ve done in the past for many of us.
Come on man you don’t need to play defence on this one. It’s a valid preference to express and there was nothing inflammatory or unreasonable in the OP to be bothered about.
Don’t tell me what to do/think/feel, thanks.
I like how it works now, and it seems to be working out just fine for FS (based on the thousands watching on Twitch yesterday). We get video and hype for LITERALLY a handful of days…and then we get the actual release.
Patch notes help the hype!!! Theorycrafting is FUN!!! This is such a weird stance for you to take, man.
So go get hype, the draft notes are out!
Ok man whatever. I agree with them though. This format sucks and it was nice of people to transcribe patch notes in the comments of the update post, but it would be even nicer to just read then in the main post as we have been able to in the past.
And I don’t agree with them. And I expressed it. Here on the forums, where FS takes feedback.
You are welcome to ride up in here, like our only other recent interactions as far back as I can remember, and tell me not to “defend FS” if you like, al, go off. But it’s not relevant and not why I’m sharing my opinion.
100%, but there’s obviously a middle ground to be had. Share the patch notes with everyone, while giving content creators exclusive footage to breakdown and analyze.
Bam, everyone is happy. People get to read the notes if they want to, or go to their favorite Content Creator and have them read the notes, share their thoughts, and show off the exclusive footage that Fatshark sent them and react to it.
The patch notes are in a draft state. The middle ground is that FS is seemingly SUPER lenient about sharing loads of information out of the test server. We’re talking a matter of HOURS here.
The wait is entirely pointless.
If all of the youtubers can already just tell us about all of the sh-t that’s happening in the new update (and all of them did), then there is literally no god damn reason to keep the patch notes hidden for 4 more days.
If US plebian normies aren’t allowed to know about what the next update includes, they wouldn’t let the youtubers talk about the patchnotes at all, and the studio would tell them to shut up until tuesday.
I mean your actually didn’t initially. You just passive aggressively told them to wait as if you don’t understand the tangible difference between how things were done previously vs now.
Power to you if you like this model I guess.
Except, y’know, fixing bugs…putting the finishing touches on things…I know I saw at least a couple discrepancies…yea no reason!
I was participating in the actual topic, however snarkily. You, rather, hopped in here to assert that I’m just here with ulterior motives, which is a joke and just par for the course here sadly.
And? They don’t have to be the full notes. They could be highlights that don’t have hard numbers. Or a summary of upcoming changes, including balance, for example:
"We’ve noticed that X hasn’t been performing up to our standards so X, along with Y and Z are receiving some buffs to [insert area here]. On the other hand, A and B are clearly over performing and will be receiving a slight change to [insert aspect here].
Expeditions: We’ve given you a preview of our new game mode, Expeditions, but here’s some answers to questions we’ve seen going around."
Etc.
They could also just be “preliminary” patch notes like FFXIV does where there’s no numbers and some details are missing until the servers go down and they release the full patch notes.
A week ago they released a blog on the new enemy.
Tuesday, they released a dev blog teasing the new mode.
Thursday, they released the launch date, a trailer, a little more info, and lifted the press embargo so that everyone who wants to can see: overviews, raw footage, and draft patch notes before the day is over.
Then, a day after this very weekend, they’ll release the actual content and the full patch notes.
The teasers are fine, but lifting an embargo and sharing the draft notes (or preliminary notes/summary as I described above) directly while letting the streamers/ytubers show the raw footage and other exclusive content is literally the best of both worlds. Everyone is happy. Unless you think non-streamers seeing the draft notes/a summary is a negative?
