I hope FS goes under at this point

Apart from when a random guardsman starts talking about primarchs or primaries marines, something that there’s no f*cking chance in hell he knows anything about. The writing is atrocious, the voice lines are delivered fine for the most part.

All games see player count drop, this is not new. It’s something people point to as a sky is falling strawman when a game has an update they don’t like. “Oh no, people played this game for awhile and are now playing other games they think they’ll like more!” Okay… so nothing new there.

At this point I’d be surprised if Fatshark even knows. There was a pretty major backlash against the system in place, so they may be rethinking some things. I think it was implied they planned to release a few new tiers as time went on.

Its harmless enough though and I think they put it in to try and flesh the world out for people who don’t know much about 40k.

Like repeatedly explaining what the cicatrix maledictum is

I do think we should have a volume slider for non essential character dialogs though. I made a post about it here a few days ago.

Honestly sometimes I feel like I’m the one playing devils advocate just saying that its going to take time for the game to get better, it doesn’t help that we’re in a thread arguing for a more immediate resolution.

The thing is the RNG in itself isnt a problem, but by itself its not an engaging feature and only serves as an obstacle to the player, thus the frustration. Crafting is just the most obvious example of various functions that are meant to give you the agency to control the process and refine the results, and which we currently straight up don’t have.

Even simple quality of life things like being able to reroll the shop for a few thousand dockets between the hour would make a world of difference, because you go from waiting on the shop to refresh to being able to control it yourself using a resource you earned playing the fun bit. It sounds simple and it is simple yet it makes the shop more respectful of your time and the time you spend in missions more valued.

My point is while im sure we will get big headline features every other patch to keep peoples attention, new maps, new weapons, new classes, its delivering the small things consistently every patch that will make the real difference. The core frameworks are already in, what’s missing is putting the flesh on the bones to make it something people actually want to engage with instead of run away from.

I personally don’t consider ‘it needs time to improve’ to be a particularly hopeful point of view, seems rather objective personally, but id imagine the main reason it feels like that is because FS has lost so much trust that people don’t have faith that they intend to deliver.

Personally it seems like a relatively sane business decision to fix your new flagship product that’s probably still got investments to pay off, future developments planned and a follow up project to fund as it tides your company over for the next 5+ years. But hey what do I know about business right?

Because it’s a way to mess with you time, force logins when you aren’t going to actually play, and give you the run around like ermagerd.

In V2 you ground up to top level drops (by number) tossed EVERYTHING in the grinder, crafted until you got a max item, and then upgraded it into whatever you want. Now you sit like a prisoner waiting for the damn shop to roll something useable. Yeah, red was harder, but red is it’s own thing. You can get a red equivalent red by rerolling and make a roll templet weapon at any time.

Now you have jerks wasting your time and you can’t even get a roll templet weapon on demand. I’ve been waiting a week for a kantreal xii to come up over base level 350 and I haven’t seen one over 330 on my vet. Seen a couple hundred on my psyker, and that’s only because a 3rd party wrote a browser app to let you check without logging in. I don’t log in anymore, it’s too disappointing.

It’s why everyone is leaving the damn game. Soon you’ll be watching that shop alone. Better hope they come through on that solo play options.

Thanks for your opinion Aqua. I have a better understanding of your point of view. I honestly dont have much else to add to that.

As for others that have replied since then… I forgot about reds actually. It is true that the current stats in the game reflect a min-max that includes full 100% even tho our current max is 80%. Which begs the actual question that was already asked… is this for nothing progression wise?

As others have mentioned, player drop count is normal. But not at this rate, specially vs their previous games. Of all Fatsharks past 10 years games, this is the worst reviewed within 1-3 months of release and the fastest player drop by percentage. Other games have succeeded in keeping a stable player base.

Another thing I saw mentioned, is the “forced” daily login. It boosts numbers. Its good for stats and shareholders. It plays with algorithms on all platforms. That is why so many models have switched to copy mobile games because it works. Just look at the Apple / Google shop and what is at the top. I can understand in MMOs and such but in a game like this where its all tied to RNG… it just sucks. Every time I look at the player count on Steam, I ponder what is the percentage of those people actually playing the game vs the people login in for the shop.

And the deafening silence since pre-holidays is insane. Heck, as I mentioned above, most staff within Fatshark that would post on social media about the game pre-release have all gone quiet (and this is on all levels within fatshark).

Some will say the silence means they are working on stuff but they were working much harder pre-release and they were vocal.

Reviews are in the toilet and the community is out for blood. They’re not going to announce anything until they’re sure of their next move.

inb4 “it’s a niche game”

"We hear you, we’re thinking…’ would go a long way. “We hear you, and these (Actual dang list) are the things we know need to change” would go further.

Not taking a vacation for a month after a cyberpunk launch would have gone further still.

“Yeah we’re just going to release an unfinished mess and then hit the beach. Cya!”

Just gonna nudge a factoid in here - you can buy individual pieces from sets, you just need to go into the details bit when you select the item within the set (pressing V, or whatever it says on the bottom right). It’s obtuse and rather hidden and honestly slightly scummy the way it’s laid out to appear like you need the whole set. To me, it counts towards “making this cash shop as exploitative as possible” more than feeling like convenience for users.

Honestly, the fact people are okay they straight up exploited people is hilarious to me.

Ill never understand people that defend companies in such a way.

“You are responsible for your own decisions and money”. Of course we are. it doesnt change the fact that its disgusting behaviour.

Take Blizzard and their whole culture. Yet thousands. Sorry MILLIONS of people still play their products because it doesnt affect them directly.

Now someone will say that Blizzard’s history and Fatshark aint the same. I completely agree. But I am using it as an example at how instead of helping the little guys among ourselves, we bend over and take it up the rear and say please can have one more sir from any companies.

This is why people are saying F Fatshark. The good people in there will find jobs if needed. But the only way you change Fatshark’s management (aka the founders) is by getting rid of Fatshark itself unfortunately. Actually that has already happened. They sold 15% from their own shares to Tencents. They dont care. Its not like before. They already sold their souls and we are all breathing copium.

I wish I had the knowledge I have now regarding the whole Tencent / Fatshark. I would have never bought Darktide. Heck, I wish they would just pay me what I spent and I would just leave this god damn forum. Might as well sell my soul too.

Been hearing souls are fairly cheap lately anyway.

So there are two things you can hope for if a company does an evil. That it either turns things around and does better, or it falls apart entirely.

One of these is a win-win, the other gives some petty people their dopamine fix and loses a lot of people their jobs.

That excuse always fails to consider the fact, that companies often have entire divisions dedicated to influence people into buying, most often influence with lies, manipulation and psychological techniques. They have lots of money invested into making people notice, like and want the product.

Basically it’s you vs a multi million dollar marketing campaign, but Internet dough-boys will just tell you to tip your fedora lower and “deal with it” and if you lose that battle of “you seeking some relaxation” vs “multi million honepot”, then that’s on YOU.

We are all adults(living in their parents basements) here and we make adult(unhinged, spoiled and full of themselves) money choices. It doesn’t matter it’s bad for the community and scene as a whole, as long as Mr.Responsible is having fun.

Look man I’m not gonna defend No Man’s Sky’s launch but it was far more playable at launch than CP2077 or Darktide.

If anything, NMS is a perfect example of how low the bar has become in recent years.

No Man’s Sky was a functional game with a ton of missing features. And it caused one of the most high-profile uproars in recent gaming history.

Meanwhile, Darktide is getting 8’s out of 10 on major gaming sites.

Look how quickly the industry tricked us into lowering the bar in such a short period of time. And here we are.

And they’ve done nothing but release new content FOR FREE over the years to make up for their catastrophic launch. We still haven’t got what fatshark promised us in Vermintide 1 or 2.

For free?

I think he was talking about Hello Games releasing content for free, not FS.

Thanks for making my point smart ass! Hello games have been releasing free content! Not fatshark! HG actually tried to fulfill their promises and not charge their fans for it, Fatshark doesn’t release anything just like I wrote!
