I cannot read, write, or speak

As you know, Fatsharks has community managers. I don’t know their full list of responsibilities, but I can reasonably assume that they are the link between the company and the players.
And as you may have noticed, we have recently returned to a mode of silence, complete disregard, and responses to memes on the first day after the patch, and that’s it.
Recently, a thread was posted on the forum with an aimbot and proof, and as usual, after mentioning our CMs, the response was silence. Apparently, the company is still thinking about last year’s wallhack psy.

@FatsharkJulia @FatsharkQuickpaw
I understand that you are working and everything, but there are still no answers to important questions. Is it really so difficult to stop playing silent games and let players know that the company does care about their game, their community, and that it exists beyond releasing paid cosmetics and fixing them in hotfixes? Is it really so difficult to answer really important questions - aim bot, when will curio be finished?
MAKE A ROADMAP AND PUBLISH IT so that players know what to expect from the game this year. Of course, a post about last year’s successes is cool, but it’s inappropriate; it would have been acceptable before the New Year holidays, but not as the first news of this year. Imagine if, instead of your salary, you were told, ‘Here’s your pay for last month, that’s all’ unpleasant, right?

If, by some MIRACLE, you suddenly respond, it would still be nice to have adequate answers and normal feedback.

Hey Latifa. Firstly, I want to start by saying I see your passion and loyalty, and I know it comes from wanting to see Darktide improve. <3

I work primarily in Support, so there are limits to what I can share publicly. At the moment Quickpaw is also our only CM for both VT2 + DT, which means our resources are a bit stretched. That said, we do care wholeheartedly about both Darktide and the community, and we’re aware that many of you would like more regular updates.

I recently responded in another post about the cheat to say it’s something we’re still looking in to + I’ll share updates as soon as I’m able to. As for the Curio rework, I don’t have anything I can share publicly right this moment, but I’ll make sure to raise the discussion internally.

“Roadmap”
Haha y-yeah fatshark set expectations for themselves s-sure they’ve proved they can handle that in the past right.

I think they actually stick to the last one they did right? Besides the hive scum trailer 1 week delay thingy.

I do hope there’s another CM soon. Quickpaw can only do so much by themselves.

That’s really the problem

Played Dune, I knew what would come.
I play Elite dangerous… We had a Dev log last week and they published that:

They made an interview, and we know what will come. In the video, they suggest that the BGS will be reworked after the PP.
(BGS = factions territories / PP = Power territories… factions are linked to powers, but BGS is not linked to PP).
As PP was reworked last year, I expect the core system they say they will rework (feature reboot on the road map) to be the BGS (but I may be wrong, but I really don’t see what it could be other than this).
They have given us a description of the Kestrel that will come this week… We have seen videos. In my squadron, there are a lot who will buy the new ship and wait for it (it is released Thursday).
They explained what operations will be. We already know what will come in April.

And still I don’t know what will come in the next big update in Darktide.

Seriously, how is it that every time I check a game I have better informations than in Darktide?

How is it that after 3 years and a half I don’t know if you will, one day, bring the solo game mode announced in 2022?
How did I discover Havoc, Mortis Trial a few days before you released them?
How did you implement these modes without even considering that the community could want to discuss them before you released them? And why haven’t you talked to us about the new thing that will come (maybe Expeditions, who knows)?
Why do we always have to complain, complain, complain just to get an answer?
This forum has become a complaints chamber… and sometimes we don’t even get any answer.

Oh… and what is a community manager? Because I don’t understand, at all, what his role is. In other games it is a relay between players and developers… and so they speak to the players. In Fatshark’s world, it seems that it is one-way communication… players to developers, and we never get the return.
I know it can be rude to read… But seriously, I can’t understand the Fatshark way of handling business.

I’ve been thinking for a while about how to respond or respond in principle. And I guess I’ll respond, of course, thank you for taking the time. But since you are a representative of customer support, I would like to get some comments on a short list of questions. For example, the error ‘Your task has been cancelled’ - it’s still there, and I’m not the only one who has encountered it, not just once or twice, but even more than three times.

Ritual Modifier - why are some of the mobs in a different part of the location from the ritual? If necessary, I can even send a video, although those who know the game should understand exactly which place I am talking about. Also, the triggers for the ritual itself are completely chaotic. Sometimes you stand right next to it and nothing happens, and other times you’re ten locations away from it and it starts in accelerated mode.

I could go on and on asking questions about the technical side of the game, because it’s in a terrible state and I sincerely dislike seeing it, because as you correctly pointed out, I do care. And instead of fixing really important issues in hotfixes and patches, I see 10 lines of updates and 50 lines of cosmetic fixes. Yes, it’s important for monetisation, but it’s like if you have a broken leg, it makes sense to worry not about its appearance, but about the lack of a cast on it.

Oh wait shouldn’t there be like a blog post very soon for the next update because it’s almost been 3 months

Roadmap is definitely not it.

As for aimbot, they really cannot do anything about it, anyone can use Darktide mod framework to make whatever they want and use it with impunity currently. Replacing it with a more robust, more limiting solution would anger most people, since their mods would stop working and Fatshark doesn’t want to implement even half of QoL that mods provide.

Aaand there is no freaking way they have the manpower required to code some kind of server-side malicious mod detection system that would issue automatic account bans, not to mention then supporting and adjusting that system. Clearly, using EasyAntiCheat is out of the question at this point as well.

Even if they do either one of those things, it brings a whole other slew of issues, their support getting swarmed with tickets for one.

I think it’s not looking good.

These are the year 1 and 2 roadmaps for Space Marine 2;

At the time of this comment, each item on the roadmap has been delivered as described and on time.

That’s it. They just do it.

I believe it’s known as the “ostrich method“. You see, if something scary or hard occurs, you need only bury your head in the sand and it will just go away.

Since we’re sharing roadmaps which teams actually deliver on as well:

Look. Fatshark is an embarrassment of a company. Their communication is non-existent. Their output is super low and they don’t understand why people play their game.

I know CM’s are doing their best, but it appears to me they’re handcuffed and gagged, hence the high turnover for that position.

The roadmap is important, but it is not necessary to specify exact dates and quarters; it is sufficient to indicate what we will have. 1-2 new classes (information about one has already been leaked), maps, weapons. Give a general outline.

Also, I don’t really get the point of supporting Vermintide 2. Sure, the game is way better than Darktide, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they still keep the content support team in Vermintaid when Darktide 2 comes out. It’s an idiotic decision, even though I may not be supported here, but the game isn’t two years old to continue working on it, you can already focus your efforts on a new (though, considering the release date, already old) project, which should have a lot of content, it should be a way of PR and monetisation. At the same time, I look at the Steam pages for v2 and Dark and want to scream with rage.

I don’t know if you remember the embarrassing situation around Darktide’s “official release” at the end of 2022. I’ve never seen such a “release” before.

When crafting was locked, the first offical update was to unlock costume store. That left a pretty bad impression. On top of that, the vermintide 2 style talent tree stayed in place for almost a year. Player numbers kind of tell the story themselves, from huge launch numbers to barely 800–2000 daily players. That doesn’t happen out of nowhere.

It wasn’t until the end of 2023 that the talent tree redesign finally happened, which to me, fells more like the actual full release. Before that, it is an Early Access, no doubt.

I don’t know how the official forums reacted at the time, but on the CN forums, Fatshark was heavily criticized. What’s even more frustrating is that Fatshark uses of “ostrich method” pretending not to see the issue. After some time passes, the negative reviews and criticism naturally die down, and the pressure fades on its own.

It almost feels like, with every onsale and wave of new players coming in, the dissatisfaction from longtime players about the early state of the game just gets drowned out by newest reviews.

Personally, what makes me suck the most is that the crafting weren’t fully unlock until mid-2024. That makes thousands of hours many of us invested under the old system to get “perfect weapon” feel like a complete joke at that time.

Of course, I don’t have any complaints about the crafting system as it stands right now. And to be fair, I wouldn’t say FS are masters of the “ostrich method.” I just hope they can learn from past situations and handle future issues more proactively going forward.

I have many hours in V1 and V2. And when I quit V2 I felt pretty much like I do now. Instead of working on QoL (e.g. crafting) and listening to player feedback, they were completely deaf and just took weir decisions.

Winds of Magic was the nail in the coffin for me. I hated Beastmen. I hated that they locked a difficulty behind DLC. And it was obvious that all the DLC dual wield weapons were the most powerful.

I quit the game and decided not to buy Darktide until they fixed the loot/crafting system. That took them two years.

And despite FS implementing improved bots from a mod, and weapon balancing from a mod, they refuse to apply the same sensibility to Darktide.

Instead we see powercreep, followed by enemy HP increase, ruining the balance even more and them removing abilities from Vet and Zealot to give them to a pay 2 win DLC class instead.

I think this game is done. The reason I’m still reading and posting here is because I hope I’ll be pleasantly surprised and will have a reason to return. But I doubt it.

What’s hilarious about this (in a sad way) is when the balancing patch for VT2 hit that nerfed Javelin, I tried explaining to my friend that nerfs are good for balance because they could either nerf the few over performers and buff the few under performers to the baseline level, or they could keep powercreep buffing everything up to the overperformer’s level and then, when the game is too easy and everyone is bored, buff the enemies which usually makes them health sponges. (the enemy buff often happens before buffing the underperformers though, so there’s a period where using anything but meta is a slog)
