Removing the consumption of Makin It look easy via melee attack would already be a large step forward. Right now its only useful if you are able to shoot freely a couple of times in a row.
A rework of this doing a job you can count on would be preferable. We already have “double damage on melee kill for the next shot”, and “100% crit after next melee kill” on other careers. It doesnt have to be crits. Extra damage after the X headshot in a row, or even after X hits, counting headshots double would be something fun, especially if its tied to a timer you have to toy with to not lose the stacks before you aquire you can aquire the buffed shot.
Its not even worth shooting at CWs with a Handgun. Its going to take three headshots to kill one. There is breakpoints to push that to two, but then you lose the body hit for every special breakpoint, which is the only reason to run it over the Longbow. Of course Headshots benefit your ammo sustain, but thats the case for every career in the game.
It can be annoying. I wouldn’t mind such a change.
Melee crits not consuming Makin’ It Look Easy could open up crit melee similar to Pyro.
Like headshot based barrage?
Headshots increase power by 5% for 5 seconds. Stacks 4 times. - This was a talent in the BBB.
Passive conservative shooter gives Huntsman the luxury of trait choice.
Whether that be more ammo sustain, more damage or meme utility like inspirational shot/resourceful.
I can’t praise WNWN enough, it’s simple but a solid foundation for the rest of his kit.
I messaged @Sleezy and tossed around the idea of adding a passive +1 clip size to Keep it Coming.
Turning Handgun & Blunderbuss into consistent 2 shot reload weapons and potential 3 shot reloads.
Blunderbuss could and probably would be broken… However, it can’t be R spammed as well as Grudge, there’s a small delay that could keep it in check.
Fair point, but what if Burst of Enthusiasm (thp on headshot) was replaced with a talent that was just a flat 10% reload speed? None of the headshot talents really work with blunder that well so I was just thinking of something that would synergize with blunder and repeater pistol.
Replacing Call Out Weakness with Makin’ it look easy would be an indirect buff to Burst of Enthusiasm. Kinda want to see how Burst of Enthusiasm plays with high crit chance behind it.
It’s currently usable on Repeater Handgun but otherwise pretty meh.
I have no issues proccing headshots with Repeater Handgun.
Proccing Huntsmans headshot talents/passives via melee would be a nice addition for Blunderbuss.
Longshanks (10% movement speed) could be replaced with a V1 Skirmisher/Targeteer hybrid.
Also, still unsure if that Keep it Coming idea would be busted, would a 2 ammo clip introduce R spam like Grudge?
I can say unequivocally that it would be busted lol. Not only that, I’m pretty sure handgun would be busted too. Handgun hits some really insane BP’s even on cata, and T-spear is so good at clearing horde that it could be a really strong build. IDK if handgun would actaully be completely busted, but it would outshine manbow so hard that I wouldn’t advocate for it. Bluntsman is already one of the strongest builds in the game imo. That’d be a pretty big buff to an already strong build.
Edit: I’ll send you the lua code later today if you’ll pm me to remind me.
Aye aye, I’ll give a heads up.
Oh I already know it would be good, my interest has peaked.
I’m just curious if a 2 ammo clip introduces R spam like grudge, a 3 shot r spam blunderbuss would truly be busted.
I guess? Personally I’d rather just see shotgun mechanics reworked so that it was more feasible to headshot with them outside of shoving the barrel 3 inches into a rat’s face. There’s lots of ways to go about it.
Gross. I don’t think Keep it Coming needs any adjustments. It’s fine the way it is.
If this is on top of what Keep It Coming it already does, it sounds too strong and like it would make Keep It Coming even more of a must pick for the Handgun.
Yeah, at one time they introduced a bug that did this and it was insanely strong lol. Maybe some sort of middle ground. Currently, it’s all based off a single pellet. However, if you aim for headshots it means roughly half your pellets go over the horde. Having said that, I don’t think blunderbuss is a weapon that should really be focused around headshots. Doesn’t really make a lot of sense with the identity of the weapon as an aoe weapon.
I just want the weapons to function better with the tools they’ve given us. And it’d be a lot simpler to adjust the behavior of the shotguns than to change a bunch of talents, passives, and traits to add provisions for shotguns.
To be fair, it did function really well with the toolkit before they removed the reload speed passive. It’s still really strong, though, so maybe nothing needs to be changed.
I don’t mind giving up some pellets for a headshot, still enough to kill whatever is infront of me and still top DPS. Even then it’s once in a blue moon to proc headshot talents or recover ammo.
Keep It Coming is a pretty good compromise for the old reload speed talent.
No, nothing really needs to be changed since the weapons are still powerful. But the extreme lack of synergy shotguns have with extant traits and talents is obnoxious.
This is a little off topic but relevant to the question of whether or not Bluntsman can afford any kind of buff without becoming too much.
How do people currently feel Bluntsman measures up to Doom Ranger? Between the 2 shot clip, the passive reload speed, firing fury, and brain-dead ammo regen it seems to me Doom Ranger does what Bluntsman does just a fair bit better, with easier usability.
So it seems to me HS could safely afford a non headshot talent even if it buffs Bluntsman a bit without him outcompeting his main competitor in the shotgun niche. Maybe I’m misreading the situation though.
Not an unreasonable take. I actually think bluntsman is better outside of the thp ranger gets on ult. That’s really good utility. Bluntsman does more damage in general and has much better melee. I’d say RV’s thp makes them pretty much equal though.
More something in the line of: “Get guranteed crit buff for the next shot after acquiring four stacks. One stack for a hit, another one for a headshot.”
So basically every third arrow can be a crit, if you hit heads alot. Otherwise its every fifth. Worse than 40% crit you can accumulate right now on paper, but adds actual gameplay to the talent and a reliable damage boost that scales with your ability to headshot.
Aslong as the damage Talent changes stay in Line 20 it should be fine.
