So i dont remember what it was in the past but from my own testing, the electric staff only jumps to target 1 other enemy from the 1st one hit. In the past I thought it hit more and based off of this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rRq1FHyxGg it did hit more than 2 enemies at a time. I don’t remember if there was ever a specific patch note that mentioned the change to reduce the amount of targets getting hit, but the fandom wiki still lists that it can hit up to 8 enemies which is kinda funny.
The maximum number of leaps appears to be 8. Charge level appears to increase the range and damage but not maximum number of targets.
It does not require line of sight to discharge, only that all targets be in front of the wielder.
I don’t remember when the change happened just that it did happen. I wish that it would hit a total of 3-4 people tbh, mainly for the situation where there are several lesser ranged enemies and in current patch the electric staff only hits half of them. Also the stun only works on mutants after 2 charge attacks.
Yes i know that the devs probably want to make sure there isnt overlap with the smite blitz but it still feels kinda sad to use at times. i say all this almost exclusively using the electric staff whenever i play on psyker.
And yes i enjoy using it, just bringing up a pain point or two that came up after a friends was starting to use it to level up mastery and asking me about. And why the old vids of the staff showed bigger chains of lighting. If anything the fact that the mastery on the electrical staff used to be “bugged” where you had 4 more points to spend than possible for masteries makes it seems like there couldve been a blessing added for it to chain to more targets on lets say a crit, like the surge blessing giving crit chance and adding 2 projectiles on primary fire crit.
It was too ‘fire and forget’ given how spammable it was. I was ok with the nerf, beign a Surge enjoyer back in the day. I was hoping the Surge blessing would work as it says, but it doesnt give extra beams. So maybe they should add a blessing that gives it 66% chance to add a 3rd beam, 50% chance to add a 4th extra beam, and 25% chance for a 5th. This would keep the spammy nature enjoyable with a brainrot addictive RNG element to your dps, seeing as most people still enjoy spamming it.
Current iteration its actually more like your secondary, as it pairs well with a melee playstyle.
I honestly thought 3 was fine when it was doing that, not sure why it got reduced even further. I’d say matching it with Charge amount for the third jump would make sense though, so if you half charge it it just hits the first target and jumps one more, but a full charge gets it to jump a third time.
That, or as stated make Surge work with the Electro/Trauma staff and make a second bolt/blast point occur, verses just being a left click enabler.
Close, actually it stuns muties on Secondary Charged Critical attacks.
It definitely feels underwhelming at first if you’re used to Voidstrike, but I can assure you the Electrokinetic staff has great utility up to and including Auric Damnation.
With Nexus, +5 Crit, +25% Flak, and Warp Flurry on a Crit build, this staff trivializes Specialists, Gunners, Shotgunners and Ragers.
It can be good against Crushers/Maulers but against a pack of Crushers it’s more of a CC tool to help teammates take them down.
The thing is, it does require a Crit build to shine. Give it a good Crit build and I promise it’s a blast.
I don’t miss old surge, annoying piece of garbage that somehow managed to be even more disruptive than smite on the average player. At least smite kills poxwalkers eventually, surge just held 5 of them at a time in a hallway so nothing else could pass through.
Good riddance, hope they change smite too. Havign tools for low IQ players to ruin games with is dogturd design
Funny you should say that, I suggested at one point that Surge secondary should not be auto aim, instead be a bolt that travels in a linear path similar to how Blazebolt travels but with the ability to hit weakspots on targets it hits.
It wasn’t a very popular suggestion. Anyway, old Surge was bad when it could take advantage of Smite’s Empowered Psionics and the Lightning Storm talent, current Surge isn’t that bad.
