It’s still early, but I was wondering how powerful people feel Skitarii is; gauging how people feel about its position in the meta. I still see lots of teams running pure Skitarii, since everyone wants to play it - but I feel like I’m seeing other classes returning more quickly than with previous new classes. That’s only my anecdotal view, though.
bugged in the wrong way tier right now. lot of fat shart moments to deal with and then it isn’t very juicy squeeze vs what we got already. yea sure the other classes are overpowered but that is the bar robot man gets measured to. tons of their toughness restores are massively nerfed versions of other characters with longer cooldowns, on a tree of mostly restore over time effects. this is why that corruption node is such a good trade, way rather ignore tox gas than have to struggle to stay alive getting chipped in it.
I feel like this depends on your definition of “OP” if you believe hive scum and psyker are “OP” then yeah skitarii is with them, it is definitely a step down but it is competitive with them in some ways.
I could be wrong but I feel like this will be another case of people sleeping on things, like currently you see most experienced players running around with chordclaw, and chordclaw is a very solid high damage but still support focused build. But the DPS is not quite there.
My personal pick for most “OP” build for the class is Arc Rifle + Advanced Combat Doctrines (link). So far in my over 40 auric games that is the build that is consistently doing near or at psyker damage. Its not at where gunscum was on launch (something people definitely slept on for a while) but I have still topped damage literally every single time I have played the build, usually by a wide margin and pretty consistently by close to double the next player. And its ammo efficiency makes me think this performance would carry over to Havoc but Im not sure if I will be playing Havoc currently so thats not for me to discover (unless I can get some friends together I just really cannot be bothered with making parties in game lol).
That build is slightly over powered if you ask me and would push the class into OP. BUT the class is ACTUALLY a glass cannon and not a pseudo glass cannon like Psyker or hive scum where their mobility and toughness regen just negates their low toughness pool. When you build Skitarii for max DPS it is actually pretty squishy, and for that reason I think it is a step down from psyker/hive scum, so A+ tier. I really think the class could be a strong contender for #3 strongest class. Im sure many people will say that makes it OP, but Im just ranking it comparing it to what is currently in the game, and to me “OP” would mean “better then everything else” like hive scum is/was.
I’ve been finding the most success with Electro builds, myself, utilizing the shock ult. Not really been using ACD a lot, since it’s pretty buggy. Clearly Arc Rifle is a powerful weapon.
If you’re using ACD, how are you spreading electrify across enemies for Arc Rifle to jump between?
I only voted it A tier because it doesn’t have cheese built in mobility unless you equip the Combat knife for mobility. Tho tempting, I love the sound FX the dual blades make like when you block. I’ll take the shorter dodges and decent mobility of them over Combat knife. Tho I definitely will try the knife at some point to exploit its mobility as I’m a build connoisseur. The strength are more in the damage you can get and debuffs/buffs/cc Build variety is fun to so far. But I dislike the nade consuming blitz. I think a more interesting option would have been if the cooldown forced you to pick between ability or blitz cooldown. Then that would be so much better as it rewards tactical decisions and skill (faster kills more dps good build synergy). The blitz needing a nade makes you want to hog it and never use it and you are always at a constant “when will be the best time to use this?” “Hog this for next mission (when you don’t use it for fear of not getting max efficiency)”. Anyways overall it’s fun and new but we’ll see it’s full potential when they fix all the glitches like Servo skull being shut down/cancelled out by Psyker shields.
This is a case of the weapon ability description just being dumb. It seems to have a percentage chance to just jump to the nearest enemy. No idea why this is hidden
The build I linked actually specifically exploits this with the +30% fire rate making the arc rifles DPS pretty insane into large groups. It seems to be able to jump between A LOT of electrocuted enemies, not sure about the exact number but I have vaporized at least 10 enemies with a single shot. And with the increased fire rate you will electrocute a lot of enemies.
The jump does electrify enemies, and then each electrified enemy seems to have a chance to jump to none electrified enemies as well, and it stacks pretty exponentially into big groups.
Also yeah it seems to have a 100% chance to jump to electrified enemies, it just seems to have a percentage chance to jump to none electrified enemies and electrify them.
It is an actually well-balanced class (except for the chudclaw) in a game where most classes are brain dead op.
When paired with purgatus psyker we don’t get to kill any hordes, chudclaw removes all bosses instantly so off meta builds won’t get to hit bosses, and ranged builds are okayish, but most of the good talents only work with melee.
It’s actually very similar class to zealot now that I think about it, and in my books that’s a good thing
I see a few people say this and I really don’t know how you can. The class has some very powerful ranged buffs that work perfectly with arc rifle particularly. You should try the full ranged build it is incredibly powerful. Claw is a better all rounder ability, but Advanced Combat Doctrines + Arc Rifle is the highest DPS. Not as good into bosses obviously, but it kills crusher and mauler hoards faster, and hits into elite hoards incredibly hard with sustained fire, plus having the ammo economy to back it up.
Yes hitting a claw into a bunched up group of elites is very good, fills the kill feed, and feels satisfying. But overall your doing more damage, and spreading that damage out over a larger area with ACD + Arc Rifle.
Yes the right side of the tree is very powerful with the arc rifle and can melt the screen for quite an extended period. It’s also a bit boring to play imo…hold down fire to win lol.
At least with scum you had to move about, dodge and weave.
Though you do need to position yourself well and have good timing/able to predict when things are going to go bad if you really want to max out your damage. With the full DPS build its also pretty squishy so you tend to need to play around cover and cant just spam dodge.
I really feel like gunscum especially on launch when it just had literally free infinite ammo, was definitely more brain dead. Just spamming dodge and holding M1 the entire game with literally 0 thoughts, brain empty. Skitarii there is actually a chance you could die if you mess up your timing or positioning.
Arguing about scum vs arc rifle skittle is more testament to where the game is at in terms of balance than anything xD
I personally find skitarii A tier, they’re good, not crazy broken which is nice, but there are definitely outliers above (chordclaw, arc rifle) and below (personal shield).
I thought I read in-game (maybe it was the blog post?) that it spreads the electro dot to other enemies, then can arc off of them too. At least that’s how it seems to work, you hit target A, they get electrified, the second hit then arcs from them to a new enemy B and they get electrified, then the third hit arcs from A to B to a target C who gets electrified, and with 100% consistency.
Basically, it can bounce from an electrified target to a new one, but non electrified-targets can only be bounced to.
And bracing gives an extra max arc bounce; this was definitely not explained in-game.
I think the Skitarii are a decent well balanced class that can hold its own in the current meta . They really shine in groups with other Skitarii acting as force multipliers with voltaic powers , arc rifles and multiples of different servo skulls etc being very strong .
Nothing about it arcing to anything other than electrified targets is explained in game. I really can’t blame people for not realizing how powerful arc rifle can be when this is all the in game trait reads as:
