Hotfix #53 (1.5.11) - Patch Notes

Pretty much this. Nothing in law has changed since that rating was issued. I’ve asked for comment from the USK on the matter and will be writing an article about it when I get an answer.

You need to be level 30 to attempt. As far as I’m aware the only difference is the special condition

well thanks strawhat, no one blames you.
gotta look out for premades then.

besides, “reading data from disk”? really?

not only does it loop-load infinitely anyways, such disgusting thing as “disks” aint a thing on pc anymore for 10+years

I was wrong… PS5 annoucement wasn’t the worst shift ever.
This one is going to be…

Hang in there @FatsharkStrawHat!

Row, row fight the power!

Do note that the orange man tried to censor video games aswell, because he also blamed violence on video games. I would rethink your opinion and suggest you lay of the rants, given that you are not helping our cause when you sound unreasonable.

To Fatshark I will say if you feel you need to censor the fame to fullfill the laws that we don’t even have, feel free to make the gore options opt-in instead of opt-out for the named areas and consider it done.

Easy solution I’d say!

Why was the ps5 announcement so bad?

I mean a game with crossplay only benefits from it no?

Blaming the countries “rules and regulations” is unacceptable. The game has been released in Japan for 2 years, with the current level of gore with absolutely no problems. Nothing about the rules or regulations in Japan has changed since then. There is absolutely no reason to change the game forcibly for Japanese players now suddenly.

Please revert these changes.

What are you talking about?

The game received an official rating from the German age rating agency, “USK.” They assigned it the rating “keine Jugendfreigabe gemäß § 14 JuSchG,” which means that a person must be 18 years old or older to purchase the game. Darktide obtained this rating with all gore effects enabled, including ragdoll physics.

The PC version of the game received this rating on November 24, 2022, while the Xbox version received it on January 31, 2023.

Once a game has been rated, that rating cannot be revoked as long as all versions of the game have the same content, such as gore effects.

Those are “the rules as set by the regions themselves”. At least for Germany. See for yourself:

I want to share a reminder that Strawhat has not personally made this decision - we are simply the communicators, and rest assured we’re doing our best to share your concerns internally as we speak.

No FS employee would be allowed to say this but if you play on PC and you don’t like the regional restrictions this is a good time to start modding your game.

We’re fully aware. Nobody is blaming the community team, you’re just the front facing people we have to talk to. Just assume anything said is directly meant for the people in charge of the changes.

While this is the obvious solution if you want to continue to support the game, I’d be inclined to drop it entirely over blatant and unnecessary changes blamed on laws that don’t exist. Hundreds of hours of playtime or not.

I just think we need to make it very clear we are extremely dissatisfied with these changes right now, because if we don’t there’s the risk our concerns will be brushed off and these changes will be made permanent. As someone who loves this game there’s nothing I would hate more than for that to happen.

None of us were blaming the CM.

But since this unecessary change happend in silent (no mentions in an, patchnotes etc) The Players from thoose area’s are rightfull pissed/annoyed.

And blaming laws which wierdly only affect this game dosen’t add up alot.

I would like to emphasise this part:

Thank you to everyone for your comments.

Absolutely - it’s sadly almost always this way, the people responsible don’t have to deal with the ire of the affected directly. Instead, it’s people like you and StrawHat who had nothing to do with the decision but have to communicate it and be on the front lines. Unfair, but I’m sure nobody here in their right mind blames you. Thanks for relaying our frustrations.

Its surely is unfair, but i hope they get paid 4 that as its thier job, which also means the, should be able to deal with it (aslong as its humane like it was here, death threats etc what didnt happen yet from what i saw would be smth else)

So is there any official word on why ragdolls are being disabled going forward?

If not, due to the timing of the removal I’m forced to assume that it’s because of Sony, either as a ratings thing or a PS5 performance thing. Which makes me super happy as a non-Sony-ecosystem gamer to have games I play altered to fit Sony’s mandate. Happened to Helldivers, seems to be happening here, and I resent it.

It’s not a good look at all for experiential changes to be rolled out silently like this, proactive transparency is worth way more than reactive clarification.

Well there statement was thats its because of the laws.

So its not sonys fault from what i understood.

Regardless offical confirmation would be cool soo thoose theroies could end.
