We have no laws that restrict ragdoll interaction in Austria.
In Germany, the game was age-rated by their rating agency in 2022 (PC) and 2023 (XBOX) with the original gore settings. So they were not a problem.
I don’t know enough about Japan, but a Japanese user in another thread also said the gore was never a problem there.
Again, this is either a misunderstanding of regulations by Fatshark, or they are hiding something else behind fictitious regulations. That something COULD be Sony’s rules - but that’s also hard to believe because well, TLOU 1 and 2 are famously brutal games.

Yeah also Dead Island 2 is uncut in Austria aswell which is the gsme with the most brutal gore imo.

I have seen many other cases where Sony require much stricter censorship in Japan than what is legally required, especially with Japanese indie games. It is almost certainly Sony’s requirement, and I have no problem with Fatshark complying for the PS5 release, just please do not backport this censorship to the PC version as well.

To piggyback on this, is there any chance the global disabling of ragdoll interactions for everyone on PC Gamepass finally be fixed to only apply to players within the relevant regions?

Interesting, I was not aware of this. Are the Japanese versions of the TLOU games also censored compared to their Western releases?
Edit: Apparently both were censored by the Japanese rating board and TLOU1 was censored in Germany as well (2014). So it seems Japan does have stricter standards, unfortunately. Still, Darktide was sold for 2 years in Japan without any censorship.

Then please communicate to them that Austria NEVER had any restrictions like Germany did. We always had the full gore, ragdoll interactions and even swastikas.
In Germany they censored that stuff. But since we use a different Rating (PEGI) and not USK, we never had to deal with censorship unlike our german neighbours and nothing has changed regarding that.

The Japanese “rating board” CERO is a non-governmental organisation that ONLY rates console games, it doesn’t apply to PC releases at all and there is no reason to apply censorship to PC because of this. Japan does not have stricter standards on PC releases compared to other countries at all.

I’m sorry but this still doesn’t make any sense? Darktide has gotten it’s USK rating in germany so it was completely fine the way it was - including ragdoll. And you still have that same USK rating since they can’t retroactively be changed (or atleast not made higher)
So I still don’t understand why ragdoll is suddenly a problem now?

The game received an official rating from the German age rating agency, “USK.” They assigned it the rating “keine Jugendfreigabe gemäß § 14 JuSchG,” which means that a person must be 18 years old or older to purchase the game. Darktide obtained this rating with all gore effects enabled, including ragdoll physics.
The PC version of the game received this rating on November 24, 2022, while the Xbox version received it on January 31, 2023.
Once a game has been rated, that rating cannot be revoked as long as all versions of the game have the same content, such as gore effects.
Those are “the rules as set by the regions themselves”. At least for Germany. See for yourself:

I came back to these forums after months away to say that this is the most boneheaded, poorly communicated, self-inflicted shot to the foot I’ve seen Fatshark leadership pull since the launch of the game. This introduces a negative spin to the brand of their game and their studio just as they’re about to release the first real content drop since the game redeemed itself.
Fatshark, what’s wrong with your leadership? I understand that the people who do the actual work are incredible, but somebody somewhere in there has to be responsible for the poor state of cosmetics and the Darktide hotsauce and for hiring Hedge and for this crap.

What is wrong with you? Why did you censor a game that already came out uncensored in germany? If I could I would give it back, but due to the brilliant Sony policy I am not able to. Even with censoring it is rated 18+!
I’d really wanted to buy some skins. But no more money for Fatshark.
