So, even though I’m not a fan of Tencent, I can say that the problems in development and communication already existed before the takeover… However, the focus on cosmetics has greatly increased and the quality of the content has greatly decreased. At the beginning of Vermintide there were at least a few events (Winter, Skullfest, Halloween, Spring with a few rewards and Mapevents) and the “content” did not consist exclusively of the release of overpriced outfits… Unfortunately, after the first year of V2, this has already diminished considerably. After the flop of WoM, the financing concept was then unfortunately changed to cosmetics, as it was apparently not possible via the DLCs… However, criticism of the DLCs was rarely addressed to a sufficient extent and if so only very, very, very slowly. Well, we can see where this leads us when the quality of the content becomes secondary to the financing of a developer. Unfortunately, this game is nothing more than an exhibition of inferior cosmetics… 1 single noteworthy “event” in the first year of a GaaS title, silence from the developer for almost 2 months and only a poor to inadequate implementation of the criticism after a disastrous release… but at least a few people look better than others, well maybe just different and not better.
- Fixed clipping issues for Zealot “Devoted Chem-safe Rebreather” head gear when having specific hair styles equipped.
- Fixed clipping issues for Psyker “Chem-safe Rebreather with Psykana Collar” head gear when having specific hair styles equipped.
- Fixed an issue where hair would be incorrectly removed when wearing the Ogryn “Scavenger’s Goggles” headgear.
- Fixed an issue where the pauldrons for the Veteran “Savlar Chem-safe Fatigues”, Zealot “Savlar Chem-safe Devoted Fatigues” and Psyker “Savlar Chem-safe Fatigues and Psykana Collar” upper body items would sit in an incorrect position on female characters.
- Fixed a clipping issue between the Veteran “Hostile Environment Field Kit (Ice Mourn)” upper body and “Militarum Field Fatigues (Gerdarn Pattern)” lower body cosmetics.
Astonishing. You actually fixed something. The prioritization is… remarkable.
Can’t say how absolutely enthusiastic I am right now.
Tencent owns a lot of stuff. They own 30% in Larian, for instance. And BG3 was for sure infused with cosmetics and rng and ‘player retention’ mechanics, wasn’t it?
This isn’t Tencent. This is who Fatshark really are. These are the systems they decided to make.
The answer to both is maybe. I can’t say I totally agree or disagree, but just the crafting is out of character for a devoloper that did a much better job with v2’s crafting, which was mostly better then v1’s crafting.
Content updates lacking? that’s in character for old FS, but the crafting isn’t. In fact, in v2 when were were having issues with green rocks not being common enough, and blue being over common, they were good enough to put in a way to change blue to green. Fixed the problem.
Now we have these locks and the awful plasteel shortage. The logical thing would be to go to v2’s system where we could trade D for P, and grind up weapons for both.
Did any execs or higher-level devs leave the company since those V2 fixes got put out?
Because if Fatshark is directly repeating the same mistakes, I’d bet it’d be because whoever overruled the idiot who made the bad systems is no longer with the company.
A good question. Nonetheless, what I mention WAS a part of the Fat Shark reputation when Darktide came out. It’s why so many were willing to preorder, who now regret it.
I didn’t find any additional updates under the rock but I DID rediscover a receipt from the drycleaners with a 15% discount on my next purchase, so there’s that.
You find anything?
Side note:
While Reddit isn’t necessarily proof of anything, I find it funny that the ‘patch notes’ comment for this hotfix is currently being downvoted there.
Maybe Fatshark should take that as another warning sign.
So any eta on the next hot fix?
I just want the sound fixes and ambush music back even if it’s a different track.
in my experience the invisible shots often actually don’t even exist. I have some clips of ammo being used but no shot/damage.
something about my car’s extended warranty
It’s common knowledge that Tencent has its fingers in every pie. But I don’t want to make any claims here that I have no idea about. My post was also just a summary of what I have seen here over the years, just personal experience. I don’t know who makes decisions at FatShark, how and why. The only thing I’m interested in is improving the situation, but unfortunately this company has been stuck in this rut for a while now, as I tried to imply above.
Crafting is also a perennial problem with FatShark, only this time the scale is worse than ever.
In V1 it only got better with the bounty board at a later stage, V2 was a cramp with extremely low drop rates at the beginning, the Athanor system unfortunately never made it into the main game and crafting was always somehow connected with several layers of RNG. There were and are countless threads with suggestions for improvement, but somehow it only gets worse from game to game the louder you shout.
I wasn’t on the forums at the time, but I do remember the in-game development.
You got something on every run, but maybe not as much as you’d like. The initial bottle neck was blue stones to green stones. Then there was the orange ones for final upgrade, but reroll cost blue and green.
But since everything mostly came from tossing weapons in the grinder and you got 3-6 weapons a run (counting the leveling chests) every run, even if not high quality, you could grind them and acquire a lot of material quickly.
Then you took the weapon you wanted, crafted it, would come out top level or 3 points under, repeat maybe five times to get the last couple of points, and then level it up to orange and dial it in to whatever you wanted.
I usually went with swift slaying on everything, because the major downer of v2 crafting was that the options were extremely limited. There weren’t as many good options in the potential list of blessings/perks, which made me miss v1 where you got three blessings and they could be really interesting. My favorite was rupture, ammo hoarder, and blood letter on a set of Salty’s pistols.
Excited for the new Hotfix! Happy to see such game breaking issues continue to be addressed as quickly as they come up. Looking forward to trying all the new changes as well.
As always, thanks for the hard work and amazing communication FatShark! It’s nice to finally play a game by a developer who really listens to their user base. Can’t wait to see what you have planned for the next one!
They just did. Refer to bullet point 1, 2 and 3.
All this hostility in this thread is pathetic. Scunners, truly.
Some lead designer in FS has gotta be a gambling addict
Dead game I guess lol, tiny hotfixes, devs supposedly back from vacation, no future plans announced or anything for 2024. In 2023 it was obvious they were going to spend most of their time repairing the game from its completely primitive state but now? I have no idea what they’re doing.
Dead meme
Maybe there’s no communications because they’re still trying to recruit for a new community manager?
