i am deaf on my left side since i am a little kid. I really enjoy Vermintide and Darktide.
I have the Problem of Elites/Specials, I CANT HEAR THE DIRECTION.
In Darktide there is a special mod called SPIDEY SENSE for this exact problem.
With this mod i have visual input, i can see and use for elites.
I know this is a very specific Problem but is there a way to implenent something like this in Vermintide 2?
As a Disabled Person myself and knowing a few others with same conditions, this would be a HUGE Step for us.
Thanks for your Answer in Advance and have a great Week everyone.
Greetings Alex, be Sigma with you
Exatly, some Pro gamers may gonna say its gaining an advantage for normal hearing people. But imo its more important to include the disabled then having the most competitive Games.
Hey there, I am deaf and have been playing this game for seven years or so.
In the modded realm, there is a mod by Zaphio called “Accessibility Captions”, but in live realm, there’s unfortunately not much that can be done until either a) Fatshark brings back active sanctioning and sanctions that particular mod, or b) implements a native solution, neither of which seems high on their list of priorities. I suspect the only reason spider sense only exists for Darktide is because Darktide has no sanctioning.
Unfortunately, players with disabilities and their needs still aren’t taken as a priority in most studios because we’re a “minority”, never mind the fact that at least 1 in 10 people have a disability, and an even larger portion use some form of accessibility option.
I’m afraid the only real answer is pairing yourself with a trusted hearing player and time. The more you play, the better of a sense you get where things might come from. I’m afraid that’s really the only answer, as well as keeping your “head” on a swivel, which unfortunately isn’t always possible. It is possible to play this game with hearing loss or deafness at a fairly high level, but you will be at a distinct disadvantage.
As someone with a busted right ear, this would honestly be great. I often have a hard time telling directions of sound, having lost most of my hearing on my right ear a few years ago, and just turning up the volume or shifting the sound balance doesn’t work, because my right ear is also paradoxically oversensitive to loud noises.
Unfortunately, it’s this mode of thought that makes implementing accessibility a lower priority for game designers. Don’t perpetuate that. No one forces you to use accessibility options, and you’re not competing against anyone… What is damaged other than your ego?
If the player have good enough ears and proper speakers, anyone can identify all the specials as they come (overlapping stacking specials notwithstanding)
In fact this will make the game overall fairer amongst ALL players, not just those who are hearing impaired.
Those with shitty connections, those with faulty speakers, those without Stereo, those living in a noisy place, etc. will be put in the same level as those with top end speakers and internet.
…still won’t solve bs like triple stacking overlapping Packmaster mind you…
