Gunner range

is it just me or is gunner range a bit much? I don’t feel like one gunner should chunk my toughness by half at 93m away.

Is this working as intended? or better yet is this a fit for gunners? braced guns fall off hard even at 30m I don’t think they should have sniper level accuracy.

It is very far range, however you are basically taking zero damage. For a Gunner to deal only that amount of toughness damage in that time frame is completely acceptable from me. The issue is more the suppression and stagger they cause which are different issues.

in this context chunking your toughness is reducing your toughness by less than 1/3rd over 15 seconds of continuous fire
that’s like one heavy attack lmao

anyway i get the point, some units have extreme engagement ranges that means ogryns essentially just sit there and wait for someone else to play the game and kill the damn things

I accidentally queued up to play ogryn that game pls no bully

Don’t worry, there was no bullying intended! I simply noticed that your Slab Shield would’ve been a good tool in that specific situation.

If you want an even more personal suggestion, I use the “Attention Seeker” Passive on Ogryn with my Slab Shield because it forces any ranged enemies that you block to switch to their melee (no matter how far away they are) for 8 seconds.

hmm yeah I can prolly try that my shield is good but the issue is I don’t have any good ranged ogryn weapons yet so I mostly use zealot to grind mats for other classes

Honestly, I use the same set of weapons as you do (Kickback and Slab Shield) and I love the dynamic that they bring. I published my main Ogryn build a while ago and I hope that you might like to read it for inspiration!

Yes and no, I was killed across a chasm from something like 60+ meters (I would have to check the distance) by 1 or 2 gunners.

Agreed. This is their intended role, to pin players down and do damage from range.

lol at the plasma vet trying to get his shots to not go wide at like twice he’s effective range. gunner isn’t the problem here, you just had a team with no way to react to him effectively. it happens.

It can definitely happen, 0 damage was a bit of a hyperbole. And I’m sure being 30+ meters closer was part of it. But overall as far as the clip at the start of the thread I don’t see a problem with it.

Yeah I also had this happen to my team someone decided to aggro the gunner pack on the otherside of the Hab entrance below the stairs in the assassination mission right as you exit the sewers not as big of a deal when you have room to slide tho

I think in this particular scenario, those may have been gunners that weren’t killed up top that eventually made their way down. On some maps it’s a good idea to pick off the stragglers before dropping to an event area.

P.S. You could also have been heavy swinging you shield through the trash and kept regenerating toughness (and DR), ignoring the occasional stray bullet that hit you. Kickback is great and all, but it’s not your only weapon or the only weapon.

It’s kind of brain dead to just stand at the door when gunners are shooting at you. That area is very large, there’s plenty of good spots to hunker down, which offers ample protection from gunners.
