I was used to playing PUGs with a single friend on Auric 4 or standard damnation and it was about the right balance for us with some carrying liability with some randoms.
Yesterday we went Auric 4 and it literally felt like standard 3, even if the AI Director is bugged it’s more to do with how weak the enemies are currently. Crystal Psyker is able to melt everything from distance at once. Crit Zealot kills everything in a single hit and restores his ult in seconds (also the new stagger ult is bonkers, you can even stagger monstrosity or DH, and you can get your ult back in like 5s if there is a horde). Ogryn with the middle keystone and toughness regen talents is unkillable, your whole toughness regens in mere 3 seconds and every heavy attack regens 1/4 of it. You can aslo get up to like 70% toughness damage reduction from the middle tree and some dips into other trees. Also, the new ogryn sized nade is hilarious, I love it. It’s a mini nuke. Though it needs some LOS changes… It’s dumb that you throw it in th emiddle of the enemy horde and like the 4 that were closest to the impact survive due to a chair inbetween.
Veteran is bad. Nothing to add here. Whatever he does now (arguably he is better than before) is incomparable to psyker who does it like 5 times quicker without ammo, or really without any weapon (they are ridiculously strong with no regards to weapons). Also, designating enemies for some reason does not show for others (bugged afaik).
Need to very much suggest what fbolduc says. If anyone thinks the game is easy, please first go do high-intensity damnations. Are most builds pretty insane now? Yes but, me and a buddy did a high-intensity 4 and pretty much had to carry the other two team members as they died like 3 + times and now THAT was truly intense and it made me love the new Zealot Chorus of Spiritual Fortitude ult talent.
Well i’m sorry but someone should play “that guy” role, so i will do it. Most of expirienced players moved to t5 auric/maelstrom already. So regular hi-int t5 doesn’t reflect… mmmmm… let’s say true state of the end game. Not even sayin about lower difficulties, there probably people who stuck at sedition. I just played a run on maelstrom pug, 36 minutes with 0 knocks in team, previous patch it was like 40-45 mins with not every run a win even. Should they change every difficulty tier? Sure not, but t5 maelstrom shouldn’t be a faceroll.
The fact that people can take an entirely new talent system they they have no experience with and immediately faceroll the highest difficulties says a lot.
I have a sneaking suspicion they don’t want new customers/consolebois to completely slam their head against the wall on higher difficulties at launch. Make it easier now, and then slowly ramp up difficulty as the consolebois start getting 100-200 hours under their belt.
And thats good. Granted some things WILL be tuned down, but its f-cking FUN to run into a horde as zealot with evis AND ACTUALLY KILL THINGS instead to ragdolling them around.
DRG hazard 5 makes things kill in you 2-3 hits but you still massacre them with optimized builds, and its addicting FUN.
Darktide HAD this where a couple weapons deleted everything in front of you, and now more weapons are capable of doing that.
More weapons and blessings are viable which also means that the r3tarded-ass item system while still remaining r3tard-ass system … at least has more options in which the weapon is good.
All in all, game did a MAJOR step in the RIGHT direction and hopefully the patches that rolling out faster
I mean, most “consolbois” as you say will start at diff 1-3 anyway so there would be no need to make diff 4-5 easier anyway.
I think they got scared of making all those buffs useless by ramping up the difficulty too much so they released it in an easier state, they will waite for global data on a month then start increasing pv/number slowly
The cleave falloff change alone would’ve put Evis into that place; with all the changes, you just walk through hordes, which is nifty, but it’d be nice if the game pushed back a little more, y’know? Especially when enemy density is inconsistent and you’re left with not enough enemies to kill.
I’m hopefully that the AI director bug report will be seen to reasonably soon.
The way things look, it seems as though the weapons (some, at least) that were underwhelming were pushed way up, leapfrogging some of what was previously considered good, and enemies are adjusted to meet the improved weapons, and the old good weapons were left to make do
Cleave falloff wouldnt be enough, evis didnt have the damage either.
But I agree that Ai director bug makes the matches weird.
Only couple times it spawned THE HORDE it was supposed to, and I agree that evis is only fun when there is sh-t to kill
Ah okay that makes sense, we had that issue happen yesterday when the hi-intensity mission was spawning very few hordes, less so compared to regular damnation but the other mission modifiers like shock troop worked just fine though.
While it did not kill everything outright, the weapon itself was reasonably effective. It may struggle with Maelstrom/Auric, but was well able to hold it’s own in Damnation/HI (haven’t seen HISTG in a bit); hordes were a nuisance at worst.
Boosting AOE damage to match single target along with aligning light and heavy attacks (not counting special attacks) seems like it went a bit far - both choices are contrary to one what would expect of different attack types. I liked the Evis before (relatively recent convert), I like the Evis now, but I don’t want it to trivialise the game (and I wouldn’t consider myself someone to chase higher and higher difficulties)
Well DRG’s difficulty is horrible. As much as I love the game, even the haz5 is a snoozefest if you have any idea what to do and how builds and kiting work (and you don’t play the trash scout). Can’t even imagine playing the game without the Swarm Control and Starship troopers mods bumping up the swarm size to 400+ mobs at once. Those mods make the game 10 times better, especially with how many bugs spawn, that’s some incredible gameplay of really big swarms, but still being even harder than haz5 even though they don’t do as much damage (well you can bump that up as well).
It’s true that more weak enemies = more fun slashing through. But you also need some difficulty that’s not just specials spawn spam. The least fun mechanic is when the game spawns 5 ragers and 4 hounds at once while inside the horde and a monstrosity. It’s not fun to get basically one shot because the game decided to end your run with something barely avoidable inside the horde. This is literally what killed B4B (well, combined with dumb cards). Sure you can argue it makes the game hard, but it also makes it frustrating. Frustrating ruins fun.
They really should buff up the dmg resistence. I don’t know if you tried the psyker or crit zealot, but even a single psyker clears up the room in 5s with 20+ elite/specials included. It doesn’t really matter how many enemies there are (and you can’t bump it up that much due to FPS issues).
As others said. The fact that you can basically pick up anything from the trees and steam roll Auric and even shock troop gauntlet with unoptimized weapons is ridiculous. Shock troop gauntlet auric5 was hard, but now? A single psyker can deal with every special that spawns (even more so with the shield). Pair it up with a zealot that can stunlock everything (even monstro or DH) all the time due to CD reds from crits, or an unkillable ogryn with 95%+ toughness dmg red. and 50%+ tough regen (with heavy attacks tough perks you get at least 1/4 of toughness back no matter how many enemies you hit, with 100% tough restore if you hit several). It’s ridiculous. A level 20 psyker with no gear is completely able to, without being a liability, run auric 4 at minimum with no issues (well, psyker is broken af rn).
exactly that.
Veteran is useless not because his talents are weak (i have no clue if they are, havent played my vet yet) but because he became unnecessary. Asail psyker kills everything in range for no ammo
Also, ammo.
ammo is useless now
I played my zealot and my previously OP shredder feels underpowered.
It takes too long to kill something with a ranged weapon.
I can get into melee in a matter of seconds and one-shot everything.
Even if you add a gazillion shooters our psyker is gonna throw a dome and it’s GGs.
In all the games I played I stopped using my ranged weapon and in fact I replaced it with a laspistol so i can run even faster
edit (for context) I only play Auric Damnation and Auric Maelstrom
This is a topic about how easy the game feels now. When I say I can’t notice a change to the enemies that were allegedly buffed, it means that…I can’t notice a change. The enemies feel unchanged from their previous state. I don’t think I was being unclear here. The enemies feel the same as they were before the patch, the players all feel stronger, hence the game now feels too easy.
