Game says its running, nothing to see

Issue Description:
After launching the game (either from the steam library or the quick launcher from my desktop) nothing happens. Steam reports the game as running but nothing actually happens. When I try to launch it again from the quick launcher it says the app is already running. I have done every step in the resolve launcher issue. The exception is delete gpu_detection.dll because it does not exit. There is however a GPUDETECTION.exe

Sorry to hear this. Can I check that you’ve already deleted your AppData?

Also, please make sure Steam Cloud saving is disabled - in case it’s restoring the AppData.

  1. Press the Windows key + R
  2. Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
  3. Navigate to: AppData\Roaming\Fatshark
  4. Delete the entire ‘Darktide’ directory
  5. Launch Darktide as normal

You will then need to use the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ option, which is accessible via the Steam client and will ensure the installation is complete.

  1. Right-click Darktide in your Steam library sidebar
  2. Select ‘Properties’
  3. Select the ‘Local Files’ tab
  4. Select the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ button
  5. When complete, close and reopen Steam

NOTE: If Steam Cloud saving is enabled for Darktide, this may automatically restore the AppData and consequently cause the error to resurface. You can disable Steam Cloud Saving for Darktide via the Steam client by:

  1. Navigate to your Steam library
  2. Right-click Darktide
  3. Select ‘Properties’
  4. On the ‘General’ tab, scroll down to ‘Steam Cloud’
  5. Disable ‘Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’

Same issue here. Since the latest update it’s 50/50 if the game will run. I’ve tried all of the steps you’ve listed above but still the same issue. In the Launcher log it seems to stop at GPUDETECTION.exe.

11:21:41.249 [Launcher] [Main Window] [SysInfo] Checking Supported Graphics Features…
11:21:41.252 [Launcher] [Main Window] [SysInfo] Running gpu detection
11:21:41.252 [Launcher] [Main Window] [SysInfo] [GPU Detection] Executing GPUDetection.exe

Deleting the ‘Darktide’ directory does seem to fix it the first time, then it’s back to 50/50 again.
GPUDetection.exe isn’t running in Task Manager.

Edit: Deleting the ‘Darktide’ directory doesn’t always fix it, and I’d say it’s closer to 30-40% that the game runs.

So, any idea on what to do now?

Could I still get some support please?

What happens if you attempt to launch via Darktide.exe in the installation directory?

The path to the Darktide.exe should look similar to this: Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer 40,000 DARKTIDE\binaries

Hello,

It almost works

Which Anti-Virus/Firewall are you using?

Standard Windows firewall

I have Windows 11 Home

What happens if you delete the GPUDETECTION.exe? Could you try that please?

It works!

Thank you.

Out of curiosity, what was the problem and why does this work?

We’re actually investigating, so we don’t know for sure, but we think it’s something related to certain GPUs such as yours!

Sorry to be a bother @Thijsje, but we’re wondering if you could provide us with your most recent console logs + darktide_launcher.log to help our investigation please?
