I’ve played some maps enough that I can predict when where Hordes will spawn. So I just wait for them with my Flamer and burn them. It’s no longer fun, but has instead become a boring chore.
When I run around looting and my teammates don’t wait for me, there will invariably be a Trapper, a Hound and a Pox Burster spawning and coming directly at me.
In certain rooms, there will constantly be Groaners spawning from the closest door to the group. But always only a trickle of 4-5 at a time. And if you camp the door, the will predictably be a Pox Burster spawning instead.
Bosses will invariably spawn when we reach a certain point in the map.
At least Daemon Hosts and Patrols appear to be random. I sure wish there was more random, because every mission run feels the same.
Horde events were changed from timer based to progress based a long time ago. The result is what you have today: horde events start when you cross thresholds on maps.
Predictable spawns/set spawn points have always been a problem though. Fatshark doesn’t seem to want to spread out spawns over several spawn points or stop a spawn point from generating enemies if a player is camping it.
It’s the exact problem when you get used enough to maps that you know where the patrol/monster spawn trigger points are. Chaos Wastes slow that down by having each map have multiple paths, but normal maps have had that forever, and Darktide maps just exacerbate the issue, as well as having no randomisation of the map structure whatsoever.
