It’s such a weird interaction and I have no idea what one or the other have to do with each other so I’m hoping to get it fixed because it shouldn’t be happening lol
So I own Darktide on Steam and it’s installed on an SSD. What happens is I boot it up and get the client to pop up and I press “PLAY” and the game boots up to the black screen and crashes a few seconds after with no game loading icon in the corner. I get the whole crash report screen and send it on it’s way. Now when I “specifically” have Discord up and running and boot up the game and press “PLAY” it goes to black screen and few second later the loading icon appears in the corner and runs fine from here on with the login screen and character select.
I can replicate this 100% and I even went the length to turn off Steam cloud saving, Uninstalled the game, deleted the %appdata% file on darktide, reinstalled, and it still refuses to boot properly without crashing unless the Discord program being active

That’s very odd Discord would have anything to do with this, let alone a positive interaction!
As for the error itself, (0xc0000005) indicates a conflict, usually with the Anti-Virus. Please have a run through the steps in this article below and let us know how you fare.
So I didn’t know which one to use so I did both file and folder just incase. It still crashes on Bootup after pressing “Play” So I did a restart after adding the exclusions but the difference now is that after pressing “Play” it flickers black and immediately crashes instead of pausing there for like 3-4 seconds before crashing.
Of course starting up Discord and running it does allow it to proceed and not crash but now another funny interaction after adding the exclusions. I saw the little load icon in the corner spin at a rapid pace faster than usual and the game ran it’s intro cutscene that I know I turned off. Sure enough all my keybinds and graphical settings got defaulted and even the emotes on the emote wheel where defaulted. character, cosmetics, and all my items are fine however. Rebooting the game doesn’t default them again so atleast it seems like a one off occurance.

Sorry to hear it wiped your keybinds and emote wheel. What a pain! This next crash report of yours is still showing the same Access Violation error as before. I see from your attached image that you’ve added EAC to your list of AV exclusions, but did you also add Darktide to that list? Or if you included Darktide and that didn’t help, did you try a Selective Startup?
Ok I added the Darktide file and Launcher.exe to the Exclusions and did a reboot. The 1st crash report starting with “62372” will be for that attempt. The 2nd attempt is with the “Load Startup items” unchecked and with a reboot. The crash report for that will be the “feb1bca”. Same results for both with the flicker of the blackscreen with an immediate crash.
Also, holy crap but I did accidentally turn off “load system services” instead and rebooted and gave myself a heart attack when it locked me out of my PC and being unable to PIN in my password or go into Safemode. Had to do a whole System Restore a week back to fix that mistake. God this box should not exist lol

I’m afraid that the next two crashes are also Access Violations. Do you have any Darktide mods installed? If so, could you please try again with them uninstalled?
I did have the Bat. executable and Mod file in place but they weren’t installed. I ran the Bat. executable just in case to reinstall and uninstall mods again and promptly remove both it and the mod file from the Darktide file and gave the PC a restart and tried running it but still flickers black and crashes.

Ahh, I’m sorry! I’ve made a mistake. I saw something that hinted at this being caused by a mod, and assumed it meant a mod for the game. It turns out, the mod suspected of causing the issue is actually for Discord. I’m not familiar with the Discord mod, but if this rings any bells, please try without this mod.
The only thing I can think of even touching it would be a Mod for Monster Hunter: World to display current hunter duration as a status info but that was years ago. But just incase I went ahead and uninstalled Discord again and even deleted the %appdata% Roaming and Local files to scrub it clean and this crash report would be for that when trying to boot up Darktide after

Not sure what else to check because I don’t currently have mods or plugins that play around with the Discord’s Rich Presence that these people fiddled around to have installed. Especially sense I uninstalled and deleted appdata files.
And the Monster Hunter:World mod I used long ago, HunterPie(HunterPie - Overlay and Rich Presence at Monster Hunter: World - Mods and community) wasn’t currently installed because I ran the executable and it had to unpack before I could even use it. did go into it’s settings and flipped off any discord interaction it may now want to do now that it is installed XD
The crashes also don’t run the “Building Shader Cache” that you would normally see when it is booting up but not sure if that helps narrow anything down.
After removing the Discord_game_sdk.dll, crash monitor_plugin64_release.dll, and Darktide_discord.dll the game boots up properly without Discord needing to be active. Finally free from this weird curse! lol
