Frame generation appears to be on and working, however, in horde situations I am now dropping down from 100 fps to low 50’s. I’ve attempted clearing the shader cache and uninstall/reinstalling the latest Nvidia drivers, and it hasn’t changed anything. These low drops in fps are exactly like the Expedition update which made FSR not work at all. In this case it appears to be on, and it does work somewhat, but the frame drops should not be happening like this, it wasn’t like this pre-Skittari update. I’m at a loss of ideas for what the cause is.
Could it be that your base framerate could be dropping during hordes? (e.g. 25-30 range). Darktide is CPU-intensive, so perhaps during hordes, Frame Generation can’t compensate if the CPU is bottlenecked.
Can you monitor your GPU utilization during the drops, and if your GPU usage falls below 95%~ while FPS dips, then this could indicate the CPU being the limiting factor.
You mentioned reinstalling GPU drivers and clearing the shader cache. Potentially shaders are still being cached again - but this should be fine after a few missions.
It may also be worth double-checking your graphics settings, and to try disabling and then re-enabling DLSS/FSR and Frame Gen to force reapply them and see if the behavior persists after.
Reinstalling drivers and turning FSR on and off did give me a smoother fps boost. However, I think I actually found the fix to my issue and it’s on my end. I re-tweaked some bios settings after resetting it to default settings. The game runs much more smoothly, it is only dipping to 80ish from 100 fps now in hordes, which is playable now if I cap my fps lower or just keep it at 100.
