Framerate degrading over time

Issue Type (Required):

Performance

Issue Description (Required):

First and foremost, thanks in advance for any assistance provided.

I’m having an issue every single time I attempt to play the game where my frame rate will degrade over time, without ever returning to baseline. When I launch the game, I will have ~180 fps in the hub. Once a mission is launched, my frame rate will be around 120 - 150, which is expected, since now there’s stuff to do, enemies to kill, etc. As the mission progresses, my frame rate will slowly decline more and more. 100 fps, then 80, then 60. The lowest I’ve seen over a span of two missions was a frame rate of 32. When I return to the hub, my frame rate does not increase, but instead stays within 5-10 fps of the lowest it was in-mission. Restarting the game remedies this issue, but it will immediately start again as soon as I launch into the next mission.
I play a handful of games, such as Destiny 2, Granblue Fantasy: Relink, Incursion: Red River, and Ready or Not. Darktide is the only game giving me this issue.

My hardware is as follows:
OS: Windows 10
MOBO: Asus PRIME Z690-P
CPU: i7-13700k
RAM: 64GB Corsair DDR5 5600MHz
GPU: EVGA FTW3 RTX 3090ti 24GB
SSD: Samsung 970 Evo Plus

My thoughts and steps taken: At first I thought it was a resource issue, but my CPU stays around 30 - 40%, GPU around 45 - 50%, and RAM around 30%. My temps are fine, and no component is passing 70 degrees Celsius. I do play on a 32:9 monitor at 3840x1080 so I tried switching the game to one of my other screens that is 16:9 1920x1080, but the issue repeated. I’ve tried updating my graphics drivers, Adjusting settings to minimum, changing settings in the Nvidia control panel, Restarting my pc, Turning DLSS with frame gen on/off, Turning FSR frame gen on/off, Changing ambient occlusion and screen space reflection settings, Verifying files via Steam, Deleting appdata folder, Full reinstall, disabling mods, uninstalling mods, and calling my beloved computer rude names.
If there’s any more info you need from my end, don’t hesitate to reach out.

I have exactly the same issue. Although not the same rig as yours ( much weaker ) the problem is the same. I start with 120fps, then go to 60 in first mission, and by the second it is 30 barely. Third mission goes under 20 and it is unplayable. fps does not recover on the ship.
What can we do ?

FTS respond to this please !!

I have this issue too. after two games the morning star is choppy for a few seconds of loading and opening the menus are extremely choppy after first opening them. Eventually after the third or fourth run the gameplay gets a lot of stutter. I think this started two patches ago for me but before that I would sometimes get out of memory crashes. The crashes stopped but now performance degrades over time and I have to ALT-F4 and restart to get it stable again.

I have an issue where when using 3x frame gen it will suddenly drop by 30-50% and stay that way- can happen at any time. The only solution is to turn frame generation off then back on (or restart the client if you didnt know to cycle frame gen).

There’s a problem with the way this game handles it. I didn’t used to have the issue on a 4090 at x2 frame gen a few weeks ago and, for me, this started on a 5090 when using x3 frame gen. All other games I play are fine (including Borderlands 4 which is an optimization dumpster fire), so this is an issue with Darktide. It’s either a recent patch with Darktide that caused this or it doesn’t like 5xxx series with x3-x4 frame generation.

Have you had any success with this issue ?
