FOMO tactics

As someone with 1400 hours in this game I have probably spent about $20 on cosmetics. That number would be closer to $100 if they didn’t have this god-awful store rotation. I hope they realize they are only shooting themselves in the foot with these tactics. Majority of people playing this game are only going to be around for 40-60 hours. That means with a two week store rotation the average player will only see that store rotate ONCE. Fatshark has screwed themselves out of probably tens of thousands of dollars (minimum) at this point all in the name of “fomo”. It’s actually hilarious because these tactics are costing them more money than what they are gaining - in money AND good will with the player base.

If this game was more popular and well received with a wider playerbase I could maybe understand the scummy tactics but averaging 3-4k players a day and you guys still maintain this god-awful fomo BS, its completely laughable. Tencent really holding up to their name lol

But it enable them to sell variations of cosmetics.

Which is something that FS & GW want to be able to do so

What do you mean? Couldn’t they just sell variations of cosmetics on a regular storefront like V2 has? Or are you saying they don’t want people to have easy access in terms of viewing all their cosmetics and realizing 75% of them are just reskins/recolors of other cosmetics?

Basically, yes

Well that actually makes sense. Take away people’s ability to see the laziness of their cosmetics and no one will ever know the skin they just bought actually looks like dogsh*t compared to the other skin with a gold tint and red pants. Nice

I purchased some “currency” just as a thank you for 2k hours of “free” AWS time, especially I have been playing less and less recently.

The cosmetic shop is a commie shop cosplay, empty shelves and no goods in sight, even if you have money to spend. A great business plan, as the Eastern Block had proven.

This is why I want repeat revisions, these new ones that are just old ones mixed up with maybe 1-3 actual new items introduced are probably the laziest yet. And it has been an extremely lazy effort.

Meanwhile ogryn cat pants, krieg shovels, the giant combat shotgun, tanker jackets, most of these appeared one time.

Bingo! Fatshark “cosmetics” quality and variety is another scam that they mastered. Lazy reskins with clipping/missing textures. FOMO allows them to “trick” naive players into thinking that they sell something “new”, while it’s just reskins with minimum effort behind it. But 40k fans are masters of wasting money

I am simillar to you. I dropped really fat money on some cosmetics in like Warframe, Vermintide 2, Guild Wars 2 etc. becasue If game is good, monetization is fair and cosmetics are great quality - why not?

But FOMO + poor quality pretty much only makes Warhammer 40k dierhard whales to buy them but these are people that are so used to getting dried by GW poor quality and cashgrabs - it’s like oxygen to them to throw money at 40k without thought.

I would have bought more funny bucks if fatshark weren’t deadly afraid of adding this

There’s a version without the visor I don’t understand what’s so immeasurably complex about slapping a visor on it.

I think it’s because of the situation they had with the enforcer shield skin for the ogryn. The “glass” interfered with vision. Ofc that’s kind of odd when we do have other over the eye cosmetics like goggles that dont interfere with such.

We literally have 3 helmets where there is a glass visor for veteran

Literally just copy past the material and have it fit the gap on the existing carapace helmet

HERE HERE!!

I’ve played a stupid amount of hours in this game, and yeah I bought a couple of cosmetics in that time.

But the store and its design made me resentful of buying cosmetics, I started feeling ashamed for spending too much money on a poor quality cosmetic, thats being cruelly sold on a limited timeframe. It made me completely stop supporting the game, in all ways.

@FatsharkStrawHat (sorry Strawhat, hate dragging you into these)

We, your players, have said for a long time that we feel that the current design philosophy of the premium cosmetic store is damaging your reputation, and failing to meet the standards people expect for that kind of money.

Do the right thing, Fatshark, fix it. For yourself, and for the players that want to support you.

I have added this to the Book of Grudges.

Fun fact: after itemization and the RNG obsession (which, well, brosgw can tell you about that) and Fatshark’s abysmal comms and dev pace (which is very slowly improving), the shop is probably the thing people complain about most.

Absolutely nobody likes the FOMO tactics, the reskins, or the prices. Nobody liked being lied to and insulted about it either.

agreed

I still have the aquilas from the DLC on steam and haven’t used them because I don’t know what would be best to spend it on since the store keeps rotating and I can’t see a full catalogue. (I mean I can with mods but you know).

I know precisely what you mean; why spend them today when I might want to spend them tomorrow? I will probably save mine up forever unless something absolutely mind-blowingly great is released. Going by the quality of the majority of what we’ve seen released so far, that might take some time to happen, if ever.

The cms are completely quiet on this

I’ve never seen one cm ever respond to do with anything to do with the premium store be it pricing, quality, fomo

The only thing they do respond to on that topic is is either if a premium cosmetic has some sort of fault usually clipping.

The only thing that might break fatshark’s dogmatic stance on this horrendous ‘premium’ shop is seeing how unbelievably much more successful the space marine 2 one is not doing any of the anti consumer crap fatshark are currently doing and fatshark investors perhaps maybe going hmmmmm this warhammer live service game do this with its Microtransactions and make all this money why you not do this thing that makes lots of money

I doubt the camera is actually on the head. It’s often lower in the neck or chest to allow players to see the arms.

Also I believe anything can be made transparent by the player camera (like when you walk right up to an Ogryn, they basically fade into invisibility so as not to block your vision).

Alas, visor technology is yet to reach the Middle Kingdom .
Our esteem artisans simply are unable to craft such artifacts on their own.
