I honestly think they’re having to do MORE work to resize everything and not make it look entirely janky.
This bit about other people’s comments being framed as “a manipulative trick” while they express a valid distinction between what is a realistic expectations of beauty and what social media show us.
This part where women are regarded as a sexual being. Essentially they’re either A “sexually pleasing to look at” (attractive) or B sexually arousing for kink purposes.
Pointing out a double standard simply based on the fact that people are being polite.
An observation no one would’ve made unless the thought of a double standard between men are women doesn’t stay rent free in their head. (A possible indication of bitterness towards women)
The logic stems from these indicators often observed amongst incel communities.

What life experience have to do with genes you are given during birth?
Am I missing some biology facts here or something? Since when attractive faces are not realistic and extremely ugly are realistic? It’s just a statistic who is given what kind of genes at birth. Since when life experience changes that?
Let’s say that only 3% of people on Earth are considered “beautiful” so top of the top and only 5% as “very attractive” and 10% as “attractive”. That’s overall 18% of population. 8 billion people total. So 640,000,000 attractive+ people.
So Imperium. Rough population estimation says on Wiki: 15 Quadrillion humans.
You can calculate 18% of that…

OP said about more attractive faces, without specific examples. Yet you are bringing up exaggerations like Skyrim mods.
It’s not for you to decide. Noone is asking to remove something from the game, so you can run what you want. People just asking for more diverse options, and not on the Skyrim porn mods or milfs from anime gacha games, or shittones of make up to look like CP2077 characters.

Exactly. I don’t understand amebas like @FrankJack - we are not asking to remove meth addict faces. If he wants to have ugly face because “mah wohammer 40k!” means everyone in gene pool are ugly - fine. But what does it have to do with others who want to have an option to chose better looking faces than local bum?
I start to see pattern here from other group like that when it comes to “diversity” - diversity is only ok if “diverse” means excluding options that don’t suit ones pushing for diversity. Much diversity, much wow.

I’m getting serious indications that some of you need to re-watch Shrek…
Personally, I like the direction they’ve gone with faces. Somehow I’ve come out with 3 I feel a connection to, to the point where changing them feels… weird.
They are really messed up by our modern standards for sure, but we don’t live in 40K (thank the bloody Emperor for that). Post all the fan art you want, FS’s vision is just as valid.
I respect the arguments about backstories, and I think it’s really reasonable to factor that into face selection. All this talk however about “I don’t want a 2/10” honestly strikes me as bizarre. Slap a gas mask on and purge some heretics. The voices are where it’s at anyway!
If limited character customisation is the reason you don’t play this game, it’s evident to me that we are playing (or not) for completely different reasons. No wonder you hate this game lol, the customisation does leave one extremely wanting.
(More hairstyles and male eyebrows pls)

Okay but there are maybe three faces at best between both the men and women that don’t look like they’ve been beaten in the face to near death with a brick daily for five years, a few more modest faces would be appreciated. It’s bad when the gigachad face on ogryn coupled with a beard is better looking than every single humie.

A small reminder that selling skins is supposed to be darktides main source of income post launch.
So the people buying skins are the ones that will keep this game afloat.
And shockingly enough the people that buy skins like to have a body that fits the outfit.
So what you should find more shocking is that fatshark refuses to give players options so that they would want to give them thier money.

At this point, I wish they would re-work the female torso and add more ‘normal’ faces for both males and females.* They are topics that come up semi-regularly both here and on Reddit. New faces won’t affect me, as I like the character of the wonky ones we have, but if it will help others to feel more comfortable with their Reject/Operative, then so be it.
I’d also like to echo @Frish et al on separating facial hair & eyebrows for males, and to include more hairstyles. Also, more tattoos for faces and bodies.
*Depending on your definition of normal; different mileages will apply for different people.

Not against updating the body model on 'fits that warrant it btw. Armor for the most part being unisex/appearing makes perfect sense though.

I’m not saying you’re incorrect, but consider newly added Commissar Dukane, who is attractive and wears a female body rig.
Male faces also require a great deal of work, and I believe that no matter how bad things go, pretty individuals will always be pretty.
Crooked teeth and broken noses, yes, but look at historical photographs from many hundred years ago. The pretty born folks were attractive regardless of their social position.

Have you not travelled much?
Go to a fairly impoverished part of a large city. Go to an impoverished country. Go anywhere poor that has a high density of people. You’ll not see lots of typically attractive people. In 40k this is vastly exaggerated compared to modern day. Some of them barely get to see daylight.
Also people change during their life, especially if it’s been hard. It’s a well known fact that people look as if they age significantly if they have toiled more than normal. Again, 40k is seriously full of horrific toil.
Go Google the photos taken of soldiers before and after ww2 and you’ll see what intense and prolonged stress can do to someone’s physical appearance. That’s just an obvious example.
I’m quite shocked that I need to explain this. Does no one here actually leave their house or their pleasant and sanitised local shopping area??
Sorry I’m not entertaining an argument on numbers you’ve plucked out your @rse. But on that point, if you think that “attractive” genes are magically evenly distributed by pure random chance across geographical locations then again, I urge you do some global travelling.
I also think many of you would be shocked, genuinely shocked, if suddenly not a single person on earth wore make-up anymore. I think your rose tinted glasses would explode.
The last thing I’ll say on this matter, as it’s gotten pretty boring, is that I actually want lots more variety for customising faces etc. I just don’t need them to be typically attractive.

And a commissar is a high ranking officer though, likely born in to a higher cast and has an actual bed to sleep on and real food etc. her body looking better nourished is quite believable no?
If you’re refering to the cosmetics shop and their super lazy shrinking of male torsos onto female characters and calling it female then yes I absolutely agree that is garbage and shouldn’t happen. It’s cheap and its treating players for fools. Men and women have clear physical differences in shape and stature, bone and muscle density/structure etc. They should 100% be different.
