Fatshark, it's time to be diligent

You’re naive if you trust ANY gaming journalist outlet at this point. These are the same people that tried to hype up games like concord.

Gaming journalism outlets are simply extend PR arms of large publishers. If you want an actual indicator of a game’s reception and quality you should consider a mix of player count, metacritic, streams and youtube review sentiment.
Even then it’s hard to find anyone truthful out there.

The only way to get decent reviews is to find a niche youtube reviewer that shares your taste and check his opinion.

You actually are. There was a giant helldivers 2 thread lamenting about all the shortcomings of Darktide back when it was released.

Funny enough the curse of being a swedish developer struck them as well, as they too blew their initial hype by ignoring community feedback, pushing out bad patches and displaying general swede-dev arrogance. It must be a cultural thing at this point.

Damn sorry I’ll try to catch up!

Space Marine 2 will be the Darktide killer!

I get what you’re saying, but leaning on them like this, with threats and demands, aint the way to do it.

I’ve been doing the opposite of this: demanding stuff, politely, every week or so :smirk:

It broke its own legs at the start of the race, so it didn’t have to race, dude.

Dead horse. Though I agree, they should do roadmaps. But no, they won’t, because they know for a fact they SUCK at keeping to them.

That was actually quite funny to watch. The big hit was Sony f*cking them over with PSN nonsense (which still hasn’t been rectified as the game is still unavailable for purchase in any country not allowing PSN, which basically tells people Sony is going to reimplement their BS the second everyone’s collective backs are turned).

Then Arrowhead kept deciding to nerf popular options whenever they killed chargers too effectively on the bug front which made everyone mad, and their slow roll of unfixed issues and idiotic refusal to listen to a community screaming for fun has slowly whittled them down.

At this point I’m wondering if Autodesk Stingray is cursed. Both devs using it seem unable to function properly. The major difference seems to be that Arrowhead 1) had content saved up that they then blew through rather than releasing an outright unfinished game, and 2) communicated more often but with even less substance to back it up.

Although blight survival looks like a game that could maybe compete.

I wonder what’s gonna be Space Marine 2 killer after it’s out?

Joke aside I probably gonna try it if player review is good, but in no way in gonna drop playing Darktide altogether just like how I’m also playing Helldiver 2 along with it when that game came out.

That’s one I’ve been watching for a while. It’s rare to see a dev passionate about the little things these days.

Ok so I do agree that FS can give a " Road map " with a disclaimer of " Works In Progress " with " Works In Progress are subject to change, discontinuation, or directional development decisions" which can keep things open to where the furthermore release of any content can be given an exposure, yet a open end to show that anything they work on can be different yet satisfactory to the means of the product.

On the other hand, Space Marine 2 does not affect the player base other than wagon jumping trend gamer mentality. Those that devote their time to games they enjoy, play the games in the equal balances they see fit. A gamer such as myself has shown that I may enjoy BoltGun (which is like Space Marine, yet in a “Doom” 16-64 bit style) and even WH40K: Dawn Of War series (even to this day), SM1, Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries, and mobile games-- yet over all I choose to play Warhammer 40,000: Darktide over any game I enjoy playing, because I feel like I get the most immersion.

Sure I intend to play SM2, yet I do not see myself or other players that enjoy Darktide to altogether abandon playing Darktide over SM2. If they do, they are amongst the wagon jumping trend gamers I mention. I seen this pattern, and know it too well.

Will play it in 3 hours because I’ve preorder it but I’m almost already sure I will not like it as much as Darktide… got a not so good feeling about arcade fight and the clunky gameplay. For me the sensations I have with Darktide are priceless.

Looking at the gameplay trailer those 2 are ENTIRELY different games with literally nothing similar about them. They cant compete with eachother because they arent even in the same playing field.

It was announced by @FatsharkStrawHat When the next update releases, with dev blogs and a trailer.

if you didn’t pay attention, that’s your problem. Everything is released in a seasonal matter. This is not a Mobile game where they’re releasing things every week. They have been able to release things every few months. They work hard on a bunch of things that are beyond our ability to even make ourselves. They even go as far as releasing hot fixes and new material every 2 weeks, if not on a vacation or after a vacation or before a vacation. Who cares they do their work. I’m tired of this toxic bs ppl say and make up in their heads of how devs owe it to “community playerbase”

That’s largely how come even Nintendo created games they found pleasing to themselves as developers, not expecting to please their player base. Every time FS even releases any kind of news to make it good news, all I see is ungrateful. Toxic people making their little opinions made up about things they have. Their minds made up about everything. It’s really not cool. If I was a developer I would not be very popular. I would probably be very hated because I would tell people off.

Anything WH40K is beyond superior to anything ppl try to say that it can compete to bc hardcore WH40K Players play games based on WH40K.
I may be one of them but there are still others and many
Also anything based upon WH40K Is very enjoyed and played in ratios if desired players choices

People trying to compare another game to WH40K,makes me laugh

Reminds me of the jocks that wagon jumped onto Halo and made fun of me for my WH40K fanaticism

I must agree the melee system in SM1 is vastly different from what we see in Darktide, and I’m sure the melee system in SM2 is about the same, if not clise to as what was in SM1

The entire combat system of Darktide in all of my experiences of games has been unmatched and 10/10 in entertainment

Gonna tell you right now, I didn’t get into the Tide games for Warhammer, whether it is fantasy or 40K. I am a gamer first, IP follower second.

They have a literal one of a kind combat system surrounded by a lot of the coop game mechanics that I liked from L4D. If literally any other studio on the planet could do it better, I would jump ship in a heartbeat.

For now, Fatshark is the only one doing what they’re doing, simple as.

40K is dope, but that alone is not going to keep me playing a game past the 40, 500, and 1k hour mark.

I am concurring your statement! Even if it may be unpopular opinion due to so-called “hardcore gamers” which is folly due to the hipster-trend-driven way “gamers” seem to “hop onto” a game, entirely harass devs about things that end up making toothpicks better than chainsaws + pea shooters better than fully automatic or semi automatic (up to) .75 Caliber gun, and do not gaf about WH40K in general. I know this by gameplay experience, asked players if they know or like WH40K. There is a fair share of responses I get that respond with toxic replies, rather than “Yeah love WH40K! I like (faction name) and the lore!”

Much of the toxic responses I cant even repeat on here, much of them are really like the most toxic side of “4Chan” forums. Smh.

Concurring though, SM2 is Oranges Compared to the Apples of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, and how gamers can choose to play both or either as they deem desirable.

It’s certainly not more diverse I’d say the class customisability is more on par to pre skill tree update and the weapon sections are pretty limited to for most the the classes like less than ogryn weapon choices.

But the classes in space marine 2 are definitely much more diverse than each other in more direct playstyles and abilities than darktide’s

So I’ve been told that each class in SM2 will have 5 weapons in total, with 2 being pistols?

I don’t know if there are weapons that are used on multiple classes, and if so, if those were counted up.

But from a 1st look, it’ll be 30 weapons (5x6)

In the consideration that archetype vs classes or branches vs classes ?

Cause I would think that the archetype offer more difference inbetween each other than SM2’s classes

in about 2 hours + download time give or take i’ll be wiser wether it scratches that warhammer itch or not.

one downside right from the start though compared to darktide:

NO ogryn

on the serious side, when “comparing” both games, its not like you can’t enjoy both games simultaneously.

the only thing one can “run out of” is spare time.
both games gonna stay were they are for the foreseeable future
