Let's not be too pessimistic

Although Fat Shark has not added a new element to the Dark Tide for a full four months, the launch of “Path of Redemption” is a good sign. I believe that Fat Shark will increase its efforts to update the Dark Tide this year, and launch more new content faster. I’m hopeful.

I’m don’t feel pessimistic, but for me their is just nothing much in this patch that really interests or excites me that much. I’ll play it when it comes out, but that’s just to see how the new tox grenade thrower changes the gameplay dynamic if at all.

I’m just whelmed.

Don’t you think this title is a bit on the nose? I guess we will see if the bug fixes come through. Perhaps the next patch will be titled mission accomplished? Job’s done? Cleaning up in preparation for summer break? Another step toward full release? Any more snarky, embittered titles?

For the life of me, I don’t understand why they don’t lock and ban more often on this forum. It’s the Wild West out here guys!

Seems aspirational to me, rather than snarky or embittered.

Considering how tone deaf FS tenda to be, I think the title of this patch is quite literally only referring to the redeeming path our “rejects” have to take. I don’t think they think they need “redeeming” ir anything like that.

Hopefully this new penance system adds some progression for people who like the style of character progression in Deep Rock Galactic. Crafting redesign should address more issues related to progression and player feeling “robbed” of their crafting mats and time by the “casino”.

I just wish Fatshark does not forget about adding new content as they are working on those changes: new maps, weapons, hopefully careers.

They did say this about their plans for the year in the announcement:

new missions, new enemies, new weapons, new conditions, and new features alongside balance updates, quality of life additions, along with some other surprises which we will share in due time.

And Catfish confirmed whole new weapons, not just marks.

New careers/classes…gah, I wish, but the amount of work seems absolutely massive, especially with all the VO. That’s one area where my optimism is severely tempered.

Yeah, I suspect that part is sadly a pipe dream, but one can hope.

For me it’s apathy, not pessimism. Fatshark has done nothing but underdeliver and disappoint.
Why should I get my hopes up when they’ll obviously just crush it?

This is still a bit pessimistic. However I agree I am totally apathetic to this coming update. I don’t care if it’s good or bad. I don’t care if the cosmetics look cool or really ugly. I don’t care about the puzzles they add. Etc. Etc.

Maybe if it comes with some balance updates some shred of interest will be spared.

A little bit clueless for sure too, considering that the patch contains exclusively things that nobody asked for. Redemption could imply they were taking the negative feedback into account, yet that clearly was of 0 consideration when this patch was made.
Not that I think it’s bad concepts in this patch, I enjoyed okris challenges, it’s just clearly none of the top 20 issues with the game that keep getting repeated though, at which point the redemption angle turns a bit sour. Clearly still not listening. I respect when devs do their own thing, but then the question remains, why pretend it’s some sort of redemption if they just continue trucking the way they have been?

People keep saying this, and I really, really, really don’t think this is what Fatshark was going for.

The main “”“”“”“”“”““story””“”“”“”“”“”" in Darktide is the redeeming of our rejects through service. Therefore, path of redemption goes alongside that. For a new person, it is a track of their progress towards redemption etc.

Basically idk why people are focusing on the name of the update ao much. :man_shrugging:

I dont think it’s that at all. We are already official members of the warband with inquisitorial rosette and all that. Auric level operators. The story is progressed well past the point of redemption for the players. The new missions reflect this.

We are. But the path of redemption will be available to new characters as well. Considering they are still calling us rejects in their comm links I believe that is the intention of this new system.

I have hope that the next patch should fix the issues with how lame Penances feel, and how frustating some of the broken ones like the Ogryn Grenade box one is. Beyond that it’s not really a system I care a ton about, I do enjoy cosmetics and unlocking penance cosmetics is the only reason I ever bought cosmetics. I need that Crafting and item aquisition fix.

I don’t care about the rates of updates.

I just want them to get rid of the RNG BS and reward me for playing.

Oh, and kill all the BS specials do, like shoot through walls etc.

Otherwise regardless of what they do, it’s just going to be annoying and frustrating to play and being trolled is reward for playing.

Pessimistic is probably the wrong word. I’m personally just in the wait and see mode. I’ve heard the talks about improved rate of updates many times before.

mad if they dont say anything, but also mad if they acknowledge it

i see this as a huge win

Luckily you arent a parent

Just because they don’t address your specific issues, does not mean they arent on the right path

the people who have faith are V2 veterans, the people that dont are the new ones
